i think most people forget to atleast apply like a slow or knock the guy back when being ambushed, because you only get the 10second Cd on your mount when you hit someone, you will most definitely be running or trying to get away for a much much longer time than that. So cartwheeling the enemy to get the distance and getting the movement speed buff at the same will be more helpful, however if you really think you can get awayeasily without getting the purge then just try getting away or if you are already near the exit ( though the exit isnt always the best choice of direction )

If you’re on mobile and you turn up your volume without headphones you’ll be able to hear them when they dismount even when they’re way off your view
There are also a couple more of tricks about this on windows that of course I am not going to disclose😂
