Between master strokes and criticism, the last 10 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government have been marked by religious polarisation and increasing Islamophobia.
A spate of communal incidents have come to define the decade: From a Muslim MP being subjected to communal slur in the house to mob lynchings, riots, rise of anti-Muslim Hindutva pop, and increasing violence against Muslims in the name of “gau raksha”, or cow protection.
The community, which makes up about 20 crore Indians and was once considered a kingmaker, has been recording its lowest electoral representation in the Modi era. In 2014, a total of 23 Muslim MPs were elected to the Lok Sabha, but not even one from the BJP. This number marginally improved to 25 after the 2019 polls, still lower than the period before Modi.
Bihar, one of the most backward states in India, comprises 17.7 percent Muslims and 81.99 percent Hindus. Out of the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats, 31 have Hindu population of more than 40 percent and nine have more than 20 percent people from the Muslim community. The latter are mainly divided into three castes: Surajpuri, Shershahbadi and Kulhaiya.
Newslaundry spoke to the locals of the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region, which has four Lok Sabha constituencies: Kishanganj with 68 percent Muslims, Araria with 43 percent, Katihar with 45 percent, and Purnia with 39 percent.
Besides unemployment and price rise woes, Muslim locals told Newslaundry there is a haunting fear of targeted violence, and the fear of being relegated to a “second class citizen” after the implementation of laws promised by the BJP, such as the Citizenship Amendment Act and the Uniform Civil Code. What do Muslims in rural hinterlands think about Asaduddin Owaisi? Will they choose their own leadership in the country?

In Bihar, majority of districts are facing huge demographic changes.
It has been 7 years that Sarasvati Visarjan is not done by Hindus in Jatuka village, Thana- manigachi.
Hindus are forced to leave their villages and buy or rent rooms in cities.
Daily clashes has been a normal things.
Names of old villages are changed not by govt by majority Muslims.
In marriages, there is always a possibility of clash due to celebrations
22nd March 24 was the only exception without religious fights
And revenge of it was taken on Sarasvati puja24. Idols were broken, people in procession were beaten and internet was stopped for 2 days in Darbhanga.
Language is being changed. Hindu People going to someone’s last rites is now called “Mazil” this is the impact. And there are many more examples to go.

The fundamental problem is giving tickets to any politician who has a record of orchestrating communal riots, yet blinded by religious sentiments people of India get fooled by politicians time and time again. I know that my voice will never reach the people of India but please if you want India to be a developed nation then do not give away your precious vote to any politician who talks about religion. Indian politicians should also be given exams like upsc type to qualify to get a lok sabha ticket and in this way we can ensure to elect educated, geniuses of India running the country and throw out criminal and ill minded politicians. Just look at the condition of hospitals, villages, education, seems like everything has gone to almost down by any data. This is really sad indeed. After PM’s hate speech, I’am now in fear of another communal riots or an emergency like scenario. Look at poor Kejriwal, he tried to do something good but he got to go behind bars. I have faced myself discrimination and many people have told me and made me feel that im a ghuspatiya muslim, and this used to happen during early 2000, and imagine now me and all muslims are really scared because we as Indians do not want any communal hatred and speeches because its our families which will be in real danger. Please wake up Indians, we are all one, there is no difference. Shameless EC should take action and ban any candidate politician violating the rules of election.

Amid this environment of fear and hatred, I still believe deeply that 90% of the people of this country don't want a dictatorship or a Hindu Rashtra they want a democratic secular India. Though many of them might still vote for the BJP as they might think there is no viable opposition, there is still no way the BJP can cross 400 this time. What is most important for the people of India from all communities now is to not fall for these speeches given by these right-wing extremist people and cause riots amongst ourselves. the problem in India is that we never celebrate our diversity and still judge people depending on the community they belong to and not as Indian, and these politicians have always used it to their advantage we are just so motivated by religion that everything comes second to us.
