    Brazilian here. Great video as always. As a kid in the early 90's i've watched Cybercops and it was mindblowing. It had a huge scale and every battle was consequential. The rivalry between Mars and Jupiter was the best element of the show. Also it's impossible to forget Lucifer that is by far the most bad ass characther of Cybercops. Man... This video felt like a time travel... Thank u for this video.... It was awesome

      Thank you so very much, Luis! I'm glad you enjoyed it. This show is so good! I hope Toho revisits in the future as I can only imagine what they could do with today's visual effects technology. The large scale of the battles in Cybercop were so ahead of their time it's hard to believe the show was made in 1988.

    So weird I remember getting these toys from KB Toys when I was a kid and never knowing where they came from UNTIL NOW!

    I have a vhs of Cybercops but dubbed in a different language. I loved watching it as a child but wanted more. Years later I finally figured out what they were called which was cybercops. I was only able to watch the Brazilian dubbed version. So I never understood the story except for the 2nd arc.
    It was really helpful how you explained the plot well here. I love the op and ed song of cybercops. I still have the ed song shooting star saved to my phone today.

    Cybercop had a very odd relationship with Brazil, as a very popular Tokusatsu along with Kamen Rider Black.
    i still remember to this day being gifted the Kamen Rider Black Toy Car as a Christmas Gift... but the only memory of Cybercop that linges in my mind is that Funky Opening Song.

    Ok...lemme get this straight. Cybercop had a lot of crazy elements which till this day inspired a LOT of tokusatsu and media with moving character developments and other things that would be used till this day, had its sequel toys be used be scrapped and turn into Gridman and Metal Jack which Metal Jack is supposed to be the true sequel to Cybercops and the same writer for Metal Jack would reuse story beats in the Brave series entry - J-Decker and funny enough, during the late 90's, ANOTHER anime which had the same elements as Cybercop would then be seen in the anime Virus/Virus Buster Serge but that was directed by Masami Obari who not only worked on a bit on J-decker but was also drawing art for Hyper Red Jack from what I've seen.
    DAMN!! That's a huge...HUGE domino effect and Iceberg there. Cybercop - Metal Jack - J-Decker and finally Virus Buster Serge (though even though it doesn't look anything like CBC, you can see some designs of the Mark Armors there are somewhat inspired by the Cyber bits and Erika being in love with the main guy - Serge in the anime though the anime itself took a much serious approach). Now we can see Takara's unofficial trilogy...this Cybercop unofficial quadrilogy if you count Virus B. Serge since it was made by JC Staff and Hudson Soft at the time and see just how unique and insane this police force drama is.

    I recently watch several episodes of Cybercop. They were good. The visual effects were not so good, but I chalk it up to being a product of its time; they were saving money because of the ambitious plans for SFX and locations that did not exist in the real world; and they may not have gotten permission to shoot at the different locations. So, I give them a pass on that. My only issue is why Tomoko did not get a BIT suit. I believe a storyline was that there was not enough money to finish hers. SMH.

    • @JapanHero
      @JapanHero  3 года назад +3

      Thanks for contributing your take on the series! On Tomoko not having a Bit suit, it was somewhat touched on in the series and in the supplemental manga that was running at the time. You're spot on, it came down there not being a budget for it because each bit suit was worth the same as several real world ships/rockets (I forget exactly what military gear was being described).

    • @disneyboy3030
      @disneyboy3030 2 года назад

      @@JapanHero funny how the real world reason for her mot getting a suit was addressed in the show itself. Also I did hear thar Brazil was planning on making a reunion movie. Not sure if it's going to happen.

    The Kaijin in this show were called Destroids and they were separated into three groups: Harcos, Ominos, and Garoga.
    Harcos and Ominos used the same costumes throughout the show with only minor alterations

      @JapanHero  3 года назад

      Thank you for sharing those details. I really didn't get to spend too much time going over the details of Death Trap so I appreciate you posting the names here. Yeah, they definitely recycled a lot of the costumes for the Destroids in this series, but they still made it work to great effect.

    Hello. Obligatory Brazilian here. I suppose you watched the recent fans7bbed episodes so... you didn't have a chance to have your brains blown up with the DVD extras' pilot episode. To much to talk about the series but try to watch the mentioned 5 mins pilot and check out the canceled Venus suit concept.

    • @JapanHero
      @JapanHero  3 года назад +1

      Hey there and thanks for sharing this. I was not aware of those episodes or the 5 minute pilot being available. I've read about it and how the series was originally going to be a more straightforward competitor to the Super Sentai series, but that's about all I knew about it. I'll have to do some research on it now. Thank you very much!
