I'm a retired mechanic. Excellent video. Excellent diagnostic procedure. Excellent verbal communication. . . Your question, after finding the broken wire, is especially telling of your skills. It's one thing to find a problem and fix it. It's another thing entirely, and a different level of thoroughness to ask the question of how did this happen, because the "how" might happen again, and the "how" is the REAL problem.

The mother of skill is repetition. Your doing a great job of teaching. Don't worry about repeating yourself. I had a motor cycle injector that had a open intermittent power inside of the wire insulation. Eventually I think the insulation would of broke apart from the V twin vibration. I found it by running my fingers along the wire and found a hard knot inside the insulation.

I have a 22 year old Peugeot 206 and it's become my forever project since blowing a head gasket 2 years ago. As the car only cost me £500 I was not going to spend thousands for a mechanic to fix it so I decided to teach myself. Since then i've done pretty much everything you can imagine to this car and recently after replacing the CAT and exhaust i've been having a misfire, as the car was so old, I just went ahead and replaced all the injectors, coil pack, sparks did a compression test (all fine) and all I am now left with is an electrical fault and your video has very simply explained everything I needed to know to go and find this wiring issue and fix it, kudos to you and thank you. @@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair Thanks for the reply, so to update in the end I tested every wire on the ignition circuit and there were no issues with any of it. Voltages and continuity were all fine. However I did find a cracked and disintegrated knock sensor which I replaced and that has resolved the P0200 open circuit issue, however, the P0300 random misfire still persists. I am almost at a loss now, I am thinking to replace the fuel filter, MAP sensor and do a battery condition test as a next step, those parts will only cost me about £40 but I wonder what you would check?

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair Thanks for the quick response... spending money on diagnostics for the ECU is about the same cost as buying one, but my point in all of this is to try and learn and teach myself, I'll start with the fuel filter in case it's a pressure issue and a MAP sensor (both are original it seems so 20yrs+), I can get both new for a total of £10 after that then I'll think about the ECU. Out of interest, do you think it's possible it could be a timing issue? I did have to do the head gasket 18 months ago, but it ran fine until this year.

Joe Gonzales I'm sorry to hear about the experience with your truck, I hope you can find a pro mechanic who can diagnose the problem and fix it for you!!

Great vid and easy to follow your thought process. One big question? On a modern 6 cylinder like a Chrysler 3.6 L the intake upper manifold would need to be removed to get to cylinder 2-4-6 This means there is no running the engine to test anything or checking compression right? So how are all these things checked.

I have those codes on my I have a 2004 Chevrolet Express Cutaway 3500 van with the 6L engine and 106,000 miles. I hope the fix is that easy!

@@ryanshawdee2708 yeah, the problem was a broken injector wire!!!

@@ryanshawdee2708 I took it to a mechanic that I thought I could trust but he just threw parts at it but didn't fix anything. I'm flushing the injectors with bottles cleaner through the gas tank. It only misfires under deceleration but runs smooth at cruising speed. I'm getting 10 mph on trips. How about you?

Excellent video. Very easy to understand and follow your actions. I do have a question though: on my 1999 Pontiac Firebird 5.7L, I have code P0200 only; no other codes. I do not have a scan tool that can tell me how many times a cylinder has misfired. The P0200 is intermittent, and does not always misfire, and I have no misfire codes. What do you suggest that I do? How do I find the trouble cylinder or injector if I there is no specific cylinder code or a way to see how many times a cylinder has misfired? Thank you for your work; keep it coming...

myk sanchez My Pleasure! To identify what cylinder is misfiring you can disconnect one coil at a time and watch for rpm change, if the rpm doesn't change after disconnecting the coil or the plug wire then that's the cylinder that doesn't fire!

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair wow thank you so much for responding! I just tried unplugging one coil pack at a time, but the misfire is intermittent so it isn't doing it right now. I'm guessing that I'll I have to wait until the car starts misfiring again to try and find the bad injector?
