You managed to end years of searching with an under 10 minute video. downloading updates now and hoping it'll solve a deluge of issues I've been having. I've done everything as you said it, still I get and error " There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the wrb or contact support for information, this may help: "....and then it lists all the updates that have failed including driver updates, security updates etc. This is so depressing.

My problem is that checking for updates does not load, I waited for a long time and it does not load. I checked in services - Windows update. It is deactivated, but when i try to start it. It just shows an error 1058 and deactivates again.

Life saving... and so easy to follow. I always have such anxiety when I arrive at this point of troubleshooting and have to turn to YT. Too often it's unintelligible; someone is running an uncommon set up; they aren't doing voice over narration, it's all typing into notepad kinda garbage.... this was so relieving to just follow completely expected and understandable steps.
I am getting an "error deleting key": "Cannot delete waauserv: Error while deleting key." And then when I try to load in the .reg file I get another error: "Cannot import ...." Any idea?
wow, this is actually legit. Although when I restarted it caused a blue screen. I force shutdown it again using the power button then it started normally and now updates are available! Thanks

it does fix my wuauserv but when i restart my pc it just vanishes.... so i just manually apply it to make windows update working but whenever i restart my pc it all vanishes again
This is to much work, check if u have any ''stopupdate'' services running, disable them, then activate your update services to automatic or manual. that fixes it

I have the opposite problem. I have a computer that I built for only one purpose and that is to run scientific modeling software - only one program. I could care less about any other functionality on this computer. It only has one purpose and that is to run a single program. The latest Windows update prevents me from even starting up my program. Could I use this method to stop Windows updates? What would I do?

Unfortunately nope,my windows update is STILL missing completely,saying 'Something went wrong, please try reopening settings later.' :( And also noticed the update history files missing as well... Basically the update seems to be inexistant on my laptop...
I'm having an issue trying to install Nvidia drivers. Couldn't update it at all from Geforce experience, so I tried the manual install but still failed. made the mistake of selecting "Perform a clean installation". When I rebooted, it still didn't let me install the drivers so I simply had no display drivers except for intel. I've tried everything. I got to the point of trying to update windows to see if it would help. And to my disappointment I was unable to search for updates. Despite this video being over a year old it still worked and I am now able to search and update windows. So thanks for your help. I can now only hope that this windows update will allow me to finally install my Nvidia drivers. PS. I think it would also be helpful to have the reg key available for download so that it makes it easier and quicker for people to activate it. This would also avoid any mistakes in the pasting and saving process on notepad.

So what if I don’t have it in the first place, and after I do all that and restart. It disappears and it’s the same all over again?
