I remember back in 2007 when this album first came out. I was a teenager with a CD player. Not an iPod. I was at target looking for popular alternative rock albums. Grabbed this one without knowing and gave it a try. Glad I did cause this was my fav song from it. Still listen to it to this day. I was like maybe 14.
I had my 2nd brain surgery in 1-1/4 year to remove a recurring tumor that keeps growing back this past week and am just starting to get back in the rhythm of going back to college for photography. I am thankful I have as many people that care about me in my life as I do, because those are things that should never be taken for granted. Enjoy life for what it is, be thankful for who you have in it to help you along the way.
I will never forget the times Bruce Avery's music helped me when it seemed like there was no hope tomorrow. But there always is. To whoever is reading this, thank you for coming back and listening. Hope to see you many more times🥰
In 2003 The Rocket Summer was on tour and they were one of my favorite bands. They were set to come perform at a local Lions Club a mile from my house. Tickets were sold at the door so after school I road my bike to the club. I was probably 13-14 at the time. I walked into the club and there was only one older gentleman there at the time. He said tickets weren’t for sale yet and to come back later. My friend came over because we had plans to go to the concert together but his mom dropped him off like 30 minutes before the show. He borrowed my older brothers bike and we booked at as fast as we could to the club. We got to the door and they told us that tickets were sold out. We were so bummed. A few seconds later I saw Bryce walking by. He was holding his guitar case and walking into the building. I said “Bryce! I love your music and was so looking forward to this show. I came here right after school but they wouldn’t sell me a ticket because I was too early. Now they’re sold out, is there anything you can do?” He said, “awe man! Heck yeah dude. Grab my guitar, I’ll tell them at the door you guys are with me.” Me and my friend looked at each other with our mouths open and followed Bryce. We got to the door and and he said, “these two guys are with me.” He turned around and winked at us and we got in. It’s one of my favorite memories from my childhood. Thank you Bryce for doing that!
