This is a beautiful series, I am proud of TVF for producing this masterpiece that shows the innocence of village life. Believe me when I say this, even as a generation who grew up watching all sorts of Indian dramas of all kinds, there were comedy, satires and many kinds but I've not seen something so deeply grounded and rooted as this. What you see on TV is often exaggerated or simplified or messed with to make it entertaining, but they have made the show in such a way that it shows reality in a comedic tone while dealing with serious issues like despite given power women in rural areas dont show interest in actually ruling anything except their own homes, ineptitude of governance that barely reaches such villages, The haughty nature of people in Power and how they deal with people below them, huge disrespect to people who earn lower wage and much more. But honestly speaking they are not trying to satirize everything but rather to them very little things like someone having a bigger and more comfortable chair than them is a big deal to them, such small stupid issues which wont even be considered issues but in this slow and innocent village life, life has a very different nature. Its beautiful and reminds me of my childhood at Chandigarh where eating that little local cola candy meant the world to me. Somewhere in a fast paced city life we dont revere such small subtle things in life because we have just too much around us.
Thank you so much for sharing your insight and Yoder thoughts…. You made a lot of good points…. Yes, it is a very realistic look at small time village life. It’s a comedy with dramatic overtones, but it’s not a comedy like Seinfeld or Modern Family. It’s just showing the truth thar these people live every day.
