In a surprising move, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have come to the defense of referee David Coote, dismissing complaints from clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal about referee bias. They argue that Coote’s alleged comment, calling a manager a “German c***,” doesn’t necessarily mean he’d show bias against that club. Even more controversially, they downplayed the existence of referee bias altogether-despite having previously acknowledged it in past discussions.
Meanwhile, new footage has surfaced involving Coote, and unverified reports are circulating about him allegedly messaging a minor. The situation is escalating quickly, with fans demanding transparency and accountability from PGMOL.
What are your thoughts? Is referee bias being brushed under the rug, or are fans overreacting?

Fan are overreacting, let's be real refs are fans as well and they will always have bias, no matter if you bring a ref from the bottom league or another country, they will have a bias based on the team, a player or even the ownership and it's culture. The most important thing that needs to be worked on is consistency with certain decisions in the game. What coote has done is expressed himself like all football fans do and trust me there are many refs that have something to say about other managers as well, it's just that they've never been caught on tape saying it. I want you to take into consideration as well there were some refs that have openly said they were afraid of giving decisions against united during Fergie days. 1. isn't that bias? 2. Can you imagine the things that have been said about your greatest manager behind closed doors or what other refs really think of him?

It’s being brushed under the carpet.. and referees on fake accounts are rife in the comments aswel 😂 but seriously if the pgmol have enough power to somehow get ex-players, the main stream media and organisations like the fa to blindly back them regardless of what they do then I think it’s fair to assume they could employ people to leave comments online that help to set a certain narrative.
1 other thing I will say is, a ref can seriously effect the outcome of a game, which is perfect for match fixing, which earns ALOT of fu’ckin money!! It’s an age old strong arm tactic and business venture by the underworld, which the pgmol seem to emulate. There’s some serious problems going on here and the only way it won’t be able to be brushed under the carpet is if fans as a whole come together, and then clubs follow suit but it will take a huge stance by the fans first!!

It is clear that there is a huge disconnect between fans and mainstream media, mainstream media loves to vilify fans and blame fans for issues. "Refs aren't bias, fans just love to whinge", "X player isn't in poor form it's just fans aren't showing enough support". During my refereeing career (not in the UK) I encountered several referees who made their onfield decisions based on their bias. Ultimately they were suspended and relegated down to disrtict level football and those that reoffended were banned for life. So this Coote issue is not something new with referees, it's always been there at every level of the game. So for a bunch of professional pundits/former players I can't believe they are so naive.

Calling someone in you industry a C*** isn't really that bad, all kinds of people are sniffing. The issue here is the fact your are part of a multi billion pound industry, and part of the that flow of money is dependent on your decisions. You cannot be seen to bring that into disrepute, as the integrity will be questioned as we are seeing.
Further to that, if there are videos like this floating around of you, if they end of in the wrong hands, it's very easy for you to black mailed that in itself makes you a liability.
I don't think it's a coincidently that the sniffing video surfaced after Neville and carragher made such comments, it feels very deliberate to expose them.
If refs feel they can get away with this, then what else?
A friend of mine works for a flight company that recently hosted a groups of English refs travelling to a conference, and he mentioned that Anthony Taylor was one of the most arrogant passengers he's ever had. They clearly believe their own importance and this runs back to some of the decisions making.
There's a litany of evidence of bias, and there has been known to be match fixing my referees in other leagues. Surely we are not so arrogant we don't believe it happens in the prem?
With all the corruption on going in the government, the exchange between the media and govern officials and how they use them, it feels an absolute certainty that our league is tainted.
Time and time again they have failed to deal with issues such as Oliver taking payments to ref overseas, by owners who have a vested interest in a club in the league. and the decisions scream it to, it's just not possible to lean to one side so frequently.
    No smoke without fire. Corruption.

This lot don't respect the fans, they are so out of touch and co-opted by the system. Wrighty and Keane not as bad but G Nev is by far the biggest disgrace of the lot. As a Liverpool fan I can't disagree that Klopp can be a C*** (as many managers can be) but as you said they are all ignoring the xenophobia. Considering G Nev's issue with Tuchel and with foreign foods and beverages you begin to wonder. Does the fact that the FA have a Kick It Out campaign and now a German as a foreign national manager not cause issues??? Surely refs are subject to this as employees.
Neville showed a real lack of understanding of what probability actually is as well here which for someone that worked as an analyst for England and makes a living off of on Sky speaks volumes. Lack of qualification and ability for the role. He's all about his feelings which is why his own predictions were so laughable this year and why no one should take him seriously when it comes to analysis. Refs have evidenced their own bias and corruption on camera yet these stooges want to say the fans are conspiracy theorists ranting wildly on social media, they are so detached.
It's shocking that they are sweeping it under the carpet and feeling sorry for the wrongdoer here. The complete lack of judgement and professionalism Cuunte has shown are very relevant to his role as a ref. 'Professional' referees need to act professionally.
You are right when you say this isn't cancel culture and also that Carragher was one of the biggest whiners in the game.

And Careagher has to be careful what he says after his spitting video could have destroyed his pundit career. If Coote was an unknown ref being interviewed for a PL Ref job, do we really think the PGMOL would appoint him if they had sight of the Coote video, or knew of his innermost bias? Of course they wouldn't. If the video is Coote, then he should be sacked immediately. All the other talk around bias in the PGMOL may be affecting decisions is a separate issue, and I don't believe Coote is typical of PL Refs.
