    hi aveline! i wanted to let you know that they way you’re laying the tatami mat flooring (going all in one direction) is considered bad luck in japan and mainly used a funerals! most times people lay out the mats in the Shyugi Shiki style (which is kind of hard to explain but i’m sure you could find pictures!)

    • @AvelineYT
      @AvelineYT  3 года назад +19

      I saw some pictures where they put them like this, so I thought it was fine, but I'll keep it in mind 😇

    Hey Aveline! I just wanted to say I love your builds and really appreciate your respect for culture and architecture. Don’t worry about making mistakes, its the thought that counts, and when it comes to the tatami it is really the sims and not everything needs to be in perfect realism. Love your builds!!

    This is amazing! Just thought I could point out that usually, when putting tatami down, you may want to avoid having 4 corners of thr tatami joining together, so like no cross connection. (not sure if i explained it clearly, but if you search something like tatami funeral you'll find picture about it) Anyway, this is just a little thing, the build is beautify!

    I don’t know if someone else already mentioned it. But I thought I might tell u more about the Tatami mats.
    They are out of straw and are super fragile. You would never place them in the hallway since you would walk on them a lot and ruin it. They are also really expensive! You wouldn’t place them everywhere except you are like SUPER rich. Also you wouldn’t place heavy furniture or furniture that you would have to move a lot like a chair or similar.
    That’s why you traditionally would only place it in the bedroom and dining room. The only thing you would place on them would have been cushions or pillows - soft material.
    Also the layout is a bit more specific then that. You can easily see it on Wikipedia. Bad layout brings bad fortune. Straight lines are more common at funerals and similar. You literally role them out and if you have to place heavy furniture on top of it you would have a rug in between. But really... Most Japanese Homes would only have one Tatami Room if they can afford one. A typical layout would be a circle shape. But please look it up!
    One other thing I wanted to note:
    The Daruma Doll: The cute little figure (round shaped) with a small face on it. Typical it’s red, but also available in other colours.
    The use: You would give someone a daruma doll as a present. It would have no eyes. They would be blank white. Once the new owner has a dream, wish or goal, he paints one eye. Once you achieved it you paint the second eye.
    That’s the background behind the item.
    With the Tatami mats you should be more careful in using them.
    I love your builds and wish you a great day.

    • @insertname1857
      @insertname1857 3 года назад +3

      I completely forgot about daruma dolls! we made them once in a clay working class I was in. teacher told us to give them to loved ones, but I kept them... maybe that's why I have never been able to paint the other eye for years

      well someone already said this in less words, if you would read the comments you would have noticed. you can’t expect for everyone to get every aspect of a culture correct as soon as a pack comes out. people are allowed to make mistakes and grow from them. not everyone has time to research each and every culture’s architecture in depth.

    I really enjoy watching your builds,I would like to see you try a 60s,70s inspired House and interior with a sunken floor in the living room. We need some packs based on the (40s,50s)(60s,70s)and (80s,90s) for people that build like you and others so that you have color swatches ,furniture and clutter that we can build houses in these generation of time lines.

    As far as I've learned about bathrooms the most traditional way is to have a room with a sink and two doors leading to the toilet and to the bath/shower room, so that it would be possible to use a toilet and a shower at the same time and someone else may wash their hands without interfering with the bathing/peeing people

      @@AvelineYT even so, I'm excited to play with it. I did think about why they chose this particular mechanic instead of giving us an adjustable/multilevel foundation ability. I wonder if they will play with that after seeing builders use the platforms.

    I watch a lot of Japan based RUclipsrs and apartment tours, and it's actually more common for the toilet to be completely outside the shower room and sink and not accessible from either.

    the new showers we got in the pack are used to rinse dirt and bacteria off before you relax in the bath. because we already showered before we took a bath the water is clean and other people can reuse it or if the water is still clean we'd use it for washing clothes.. etc
