Monty is one of the greatest players of his era. Won the order of merit virtually every year.
I was there that day. Loved watching Monty, Els and Vijay smash the ball around that beautiful West course.
Some great golf played around Wentworth in late 90s 👌 all the big names
He had the best tempo. Sets up over the ball, a quick look at target. One waggle, occasionally two an then he whacks it! If pros today played like him we could have two tournaments per day.
I know it is 2 years late, but I just watched a Video with Peter Finch, a You Tuber, play 3 holes with Colin only a few days ago, and guess what, Colin mentioned slow play on it. Made me laugh, and then I saw your comment. Cheers
Loyal guy. Never changed his caddy thru out his career.
Totally untrue.
One of the greatest players that Europe has seen.
The European crowds are much more polite and subdued than in America. And there's no A-hole screaming, "Get in the Hole". Congrats Monty.
More of these types of videos.
Wonderful rythm !
He had some speed through the ball.
Confusing title. Should say Volvo PGA Championship. 3rd straight PGA Championship would be what Koepka is going for next year.
Probably to do with sponsorships ie it’s not sponsored by Volvo now, but they can’t refer to it as the BMW PGA because it wasn’t called that back then.
Incredible how much the game and equipment (driver/ball) have changed in 20 years... Monty wasn’t exactly short and he looks like he’s dinking it round...
Yeah he averaged around 270 which was still respectable around 2000. I miss the days when 280+ was considered a “big drive”
Just to make it clear, this was the 2000 Volvo PGA Championdhip on the European Tour. Monty was 37 years old.
He never won a major on the US PGA Tour . Never won The British Open. He has won 3 Majors on the US PGA Champions ( over 50) Tour but not a British Open.
One of the greatest player to never have won one of the 4 "majors"
Greatest player to never win a major
Hasn't he won three ? Two Pga senior championships and one U.S Senior Open ?
@@theclarinetjooddsandends3753 they don't count
@@aidangriffiths5075 why ?
@@theclarinetjooddsandends3753 because they're senior majors.... Nobody asks how many senior majors a golfer wins, they ask how many majors, because they're played at the highest level of competition and have history and prestige that the senior ones can't come close to.
By far the best player never to have won a major
Strange errors with the hole captions during the first five minutes (and the scorecard). Constantly one hole ahead of the one he’s actually playing.
What year was this win????????
2000
@@jonathanlynch8372 - Thanks!
Joel Farmer Thanks
Effortless swing
Did Julien Tutt swear?
Yes.
Great player , shame he looked so miserable all the time...
