Have you ever gotten scammed while travelling before? This was a first for me (and I'm pretty sure it won't be the last unfortunately) but the rest of the day was still amazing!
Well, I think that It was not a scam. I'm a local in Danang city, so I would say I have to pay 1 million VND or maybe a bit higher, but it's also around $50 from the morning to the end of the afternoon about 6 PM or 7 PM. Because the driver will wait all the time. Taxi here is also paid for waiting time, If you reached the spot and told the driver to wait for you, the fee for waiting will be started from that. Don't be upset, it's the right price!
I don`t think you were scammed . As a Vietnamese , i even paid 80 USD for a full day drive , more than what you paid . Also since you didn`t tell the driver exactly what places you wanted to go to , so he drove you to where most of the tourists usually go . And don`t forget the gas price went up 25% in VN those last 3 months . With the galloping inflation everywhere in the world , don`t expect that Vietnam will always stay a dirty cheap country that all the foreigners can take advantage of
I don't think you got scammed. The driver took you to a spot that he felt you would like since you were doing all the other "touristy" things. If it was something you weren't into all you had to do was say no.
