making ori mains real proud w/ this 1 mr peckingsworth... . . . . ps. i probably don't need to say it, because everyone probably knows these arent the buffs ori players were looking for. like, bump the shield back up, lab out a way to fix the power curve the CDR and AP item changes ruined, remove the passthrough falloff on the Q (is2g her waveclear and poke is the worst it's ever been), hell, maybe give her back the ability to use ult right after her ball leashes? why was that /really/ changed? but riot doesn't want to give her any decent sauce: those monsters, they won't let my girl cook! They don't want her to be the first-pickable safe-scaling midlaner again. Imagine ori being competitive in lane... Once she was the baseline for a meta. I remember in season 4 I read an article or a blog post or something claiming riot considered orianna to be perfectly balanced, the gold standard for the midlane, the champ every midlaner was balanced against. but now they think safe control mages make the game boring, so here's another ult buff nobody really asked for to close out the games we were already winning. Eat when you hit a lode, starve when you don't, i guess. mixed feelings, man.
This game was so impressive, just a perfect example of building a lead through good laning and then translating that into a win. Even with a Draven that was trying his best to lose
Another person who plays Orianna in high elo is Zianni whos kinda crazy even against his counter matchup pretty chill player if anyone wanted to see more orianna content, Pekin played very well here too for someone who doesnt touch this champ on a regular basis
12:02 - For those of you wondering, Pekin had a total 650 in items over Talon and kept 900 in his pocket for his mythic. Information you didn’t need nor ask for, I provide
@@markabc178 it's the opposite. early game, her passive does nothing because of her nerfed base AD and lack of AP. in the mid and lategame, that last auto frequently secures a kill. Frankly, i don't want them to change it too much. Right now it's kind of a nothing burger when it matters most, but if they buffed it, she'd invalidate a ton of matchups again, the way she used to. Riot has for the past several years wanted ori to be a champion you can straight up walk at and win against whenever your cooldowns are up, and having a strong manfighting passive or good defensive tools (her E) is not a part of that philosophy.
if they just let it stack on q-e hits (dmg from the ball) you could really try to stack its dmg and trade with buffed autos early, or make it so increase dmg also applies to ball hits, or even get rid of stacks and make subsequent hits shred mr. You'll just need to add more stacks and nerf ratio per stack to balance it out. Like her passive could really emphasize on Orianna being a low cd spam champion.
I don't recall her being considered banworthy in a long time, if ever, but it's certainly been a moment since she was favored as a safe pick in competitive.
Watching this really does reinforce my hatred of reworked duskblade, it makes assassins so safe to just full send with, most of them already have a safety net built into their kits.
usually they have two safety nets, and are incentivized to use one of them to get in. That's on top of edge of night, hexdrinker, stopwatch... and having more damage, way earlier power curves, more map presence, and in some cases just as much CC and teamfight potential vs the control mages that haven't felt at home mid in, what, half a decade now? I get that riot wants to reward assassins for knowing their kill windows really well, but going 1 for 1 on a priority target in teamfights is literally what that role was balanced around. Control mages still don't get to have the defensive tools or raw AP they had back in early seasons, so why are we giving assassins more safety? I think the answer is pretty obvious: assassin-heavy metas are considered more entertaining to watch, and assassins are much more popular to play.
@@ditch_magnet Pekinwoof actively disproves that tbh, the plays he makes with control mages are absolutely insane and really show off how high the skill ceiling is with for that role. I absolutely agree that there's a huge amount of assassin bias, even just looking at mythics they've gotten the most beneficial changes outside of maybe tanks. Mages have yet to get a mythic, and only just recently have ADC items been touched in any way.
@@johndelanie3649 you're half right. The best ori players - the best control mage players - do a great job of playing the archetype to its strength at the highest level. Those champs are balanced around competitive, where a patient control mage player can zone you out and scale safely until ganks or coordinated teamfights happen and where your teammates are fully invested in keeping you safe and making plays you have the ability to react to. But even Pekin isn't picking champs like ori routinely anymore. He's a zoe main, and she has more in common with assassins than she does with control mages. I will say that mythics like crown and glacial show that riot has genuinely thought about giving control mages tools to deal with assassins and mobile bruisers, but they have a habit of reflex nerfing those tools really hard when they end up working, and what you end up with is a champ with no edge over assassins besides the ability to use all its spells from the backline and a bunch of items that don't really do anything. With items like shadowflame and serpent's edge being in the game on top of the repeated nerfs to shield scaling on control mages, I feel like the archetype has just lost a lot of its versatility over the years in the name of balancing assassins into prominence.
Talon really shouldn’t be able to jump walls in combat, at least not several in a row. Maybe give the ability a long cooldown but refund it if it’s used out of combat? It’s supposed to be used to let him roam and find weird angles to attack from, but it’s usually used as a get-out-of-jail-free card.
Even if the qwen was getting hard camped I loved that they still kept the pressure up and kept contributing to the win con. If more players in LoL were like that I would've probably still be playing this game. Alas, the Draven is sadly more indicative lol.
thx for the video gotta some question hope u can answer when do I use phase rush ? I really couldnt think of any situation for it why not using ignite instead of teleport ? sometimes enemy would left with really so little amount of health so Idk why not maxing w first ? I saw the difference in maxing q in terms of mana but still not convinced so idk
Ori is such an underrated champion Ludden is also very strong on her And you can always go Red+Blue Runes for more damage i.e Dark Harvest/Electrocute with true dmg(red)+Burn(blue)
At this point I just basically almost always ban draven not because I don't want to play against it but because every single draven player is like this and I don't want them on my team lmao
@@Icidulon if it is already low cooldown, I don’t really understand the reasoning behind building liandrys. I understand that low cooldown abilities and liandrys work well together cuz u can proc it over and over. But I still feel like if you are snowballing, ludens is better cuz of higher overall damage output, correct me if I’m wrong
it's for udyr. If Pekin buys ludens there's a good chance he never gets fed enough to burst anyone with it in a typical rotation. he was watching gwen take the tumble toplane and decided he had to build it so his team can handle udyr's pressure. You can and should build ludens, liandrys, or crown on orianna depending on the game. She can use any of these three mythics very well. That said, liandry's is good enough on her that you can build it most games, especially if you think your build is going to lack CDR.
