khaza1wolfgurl It wouldn't surprise me if Bioware pulled a "hey, all your heroes share some dragon blood" or something making them all related to each other.
I made a fanfiction story about this actually... I imagined Amell and Trevelyan were sisters. (In Amell's wiki, it said she had siblings, that's where I got the idea).
I like how if you pick a circle Mage you're actually related to Hawk.. I really wish there was dialogue for a sarcastic Hawk like "so I heard you wanted to bang my cousin".

Thanks to this video it just clicked with me that this Cullen is the same one in DAO and DA2. Been playing the series for years. I don't think anyone is a dumb as I am.
Not sure that would fly. They don't usually have repeat romances... but I had hoped for something in the DLC Trespasser epilogue of him reuniting with his Fem-Amell/Surana. (only if he wasn't romanced in DA: I)... just a thought... hope...

I actually think they're ready for it. Bioware is going all in, they ditched ME:A and Jade Empire 2 for two more Dragon Age games. (THERE BETTER BE A WARDEN APPEARANCE!!!.) Arkane gave voice to Corvo, they chose Stephen Russell from the previous Thief series. (Since Dishonored was inspired by Thief) Bioware can choose their previous Warden VAs from DA:O: Mark Hildreth for the male human Warden(Wise). Mark Meer(Shepard!) for male elf Warden(Experienced) or Yuri Lowenthal(Violent)(Ben10) Fred Tatasciore for male dwarf Warden(Wise) or Keith Ferguson or Keith Szarabajka(Smart), Hellena Taylor(Bayonetta!) for human female Warden(Wise) Corri English(That one Skyrim VA actress lol) English for female elf Warden Courtney Taylor(Jack from ME, female protagonist from Fallout 4) for the Dwarf female Warden(Cocky) All of these VAs are very experienced and have voice showcases. Maybe except for Hellena Taylor and Corri English, (I mean voice showcases!) but they had iconic roles. (Bayonetta.) (And Corri, voicing every female in Skyrim lmao) Bioware could even pick Ben Browder! A sci-fi legend and co-star of Claudia Black(Morrigan) on Farscape! Would be funny too, if the Warden romanced her.)
So I'm new to this series and I've played through the game's main story (plus Tresspasser). But I find these videos and people seem to get....different characters than I've seen. So if you've played the other games previous to Inquisition---does that effect thing IN Inquisition?
+sailtheplains Hi! :D Late reply... Yes, it does. You can use the Dragon Age Keep to weave the story of the previous DA installments-- DA:O and DA2 for your starting world state in Inquisition... but it's much better to play the previous DAs especially Origins(Yeeeessss!)... :) so that you can really immerse in the story and that you understand each choice in the Dragon Age Keep tapestry :) P.S. the default world state in Inquisition is the worst world state ever. >_< (hope I explained it clearly... though i think I made it complicated?) Hahahah! :D
Morrigan, the Orlesian court mage, is from Origins. Alistair, who is the warden you go into the Fade with if you don't get Straud or he is the king of Ferelden, is also from Origins. Hawke is the protagonist from DA2 of course. Cullen has been in all three games and is much nicer in DAI than the other two. Leliana is from Origins. She is one of your companions throughout the game, and a character the Warden can romance. Cassandra appears in cutscene throughout DA2 to comment on the events of the game, as it is framed to be a story told by Varric, who first appears in DA2 as well. That's all of the DAI repeat characters that I can think of. I would recommend playing Dragon Age: Origins, but DA2 was garbage in my opinion. The story is good, but the gameplay is super boring and all caves have one of three or so layouts, so nothing ever feels new. Dragon Age: Inquisition is much more open world than either of its predecessors.
For any new people reading these comments I recommend playing DA:O and DA2 so you can put together a good keep state. It’s well worth it even though Origins is 12 years old at this point.
cooler because the amells are related to hawke branch of the family, so HoF would be cousins to the champion. Seems prestige and fame run in their blood
It's so sad that he killed three apprentices in the circle tower and then escaped prison in Origins ): I never knew that until I just finished my female mage playthrough ):
The epilogue slides in origins were written in a time when they didn't know they were going to have sequels so I'd take them(all epilogue slides in general actually) with a grain of salt I mean if you crown haramont the origins end slide indicates that he should be dead by now but he's not(same with a conscripted Loghain), shale is said to regain a mortal body but the last we hear of her she's still a Golem in the asunder novel, Anders clearly doesn't stay with the wardens post awakening regardless of what the ending says etc So take them more as rumour until they're either confirmed or denied by future entries And somehow I doubt Cullen would have been able to hold a position of authority in even the kirkwall circle if he actually canonically did that
I dunno, straight/bi Amell/Surana not giving a shit about Cullen despite technically not having incompatible orientations (leaving aside all the other obvious incompatibilities, which he doesn't seem to mind, specially if you go blood mage and show up covered in the blood of her enemies), really makes him seem all the more desperate and it's glorious.
Its a bit disappointing that it feels like cullens entire personal arc is already resovled by the time inquisition happens. He was a typically overzealous templar in origins, and in 2 he still had strong opinions but you could tell he was an honorable man. I would have loved it if he was still mostly on board with the templars or even still a templar when we meet him. Would be a more fascinating questline to see him slowly turn from the templars. That lyrium addiction just wasnt very exciting.
What? In Origins he started as a mild Templar that liked mages, never faced a demon and wanted to take it easy with mages. Then he experienced blood magic and demons - you meet him while he was still in shock. In DA2 he was in the "never again will I allow myself or anyone else fall victim to what I was once". In DA I he finally accepted (with seeing how Meredith was insane) that there are bad guys on both sides and left both orders alone - stopped hunting mages and stopped being a templar. (It isnt him growing soft overtime, its much more complex than that)
Your DA:O has to have been a mage, and I think (not 100% sure) you also have to be a mage and in a romance with him. He drops hints when you talk to him about it here and there like "Are you with anyone?"-inquisitor "No, I haven't have feelings for someone in a long time"- Cullen. I guess if you romanced Lilliana and are not in a romance with him he will ask her how the warden is doing and if she is well showing he is still in love with her, in DA 2 he has a diary you can read if she was a mage that talks about her. He has been in love with Mage Warden for 10 years. But sadly I think most of this is left out unless you were a mage in DAO which is sad cause it really is a good story for him. If you were not a mage he just says something like "I...I dont want to talk about it". Going from loving mages to hating mages to beating them and others up in Kirkwall to falling in love with a mage again. He is one of my favorite romances because he shows a large amount of maturing.
