- Christmas in your heart
We try to escape this period before Christmas. we know that we cant jump into celebration without all the futility? shopping lists, cleaning, cooking.
And everyone ask themselves: what is Christmas?
Christmas?
Truth?
Celebration?
History?
Event?
How does it effect me?
And why the peace that i am trying to achieve with all my heart somehow mixed with all the stress and futility???
Everything that happens before Christmas is a mirrow of our heart.
Yes, my heart is full of stress(futility), impatience (neterpinnja), insults,longing, tiredness, pain, unforgiveness, misery, anger, greediness, worship of idols, vanity, fear.
A m trying to suppress all this with christmassy tunes, blind with fairy lights, and tasty food, overwhelm with presents, decorate with ornaments.
What has this got to do with old stable, cattle, shepherds and hay?
If one looks at christmas with Marys and Joseph eyes then frankly speaking, they felt a bit out o place, when they didnt find where to stay overnight, and that feeling coincidents with my christmas feelings.
Probably Mary wanted to give birth to jesus somewhere more appropriate rather then a stable.
I alsothoght that this year everything will be different, that i will upload video in advance, clean the cobwebs away, make dumplings, prepare presents for loved ones…
i dont know a person that doesnt have the same feelings that mary and joseph had before christmas. all that way, all 145 kilometres from Nazareth to Bethlehem was full of discomfort.
Comfort
We are obsessed with pursuit of comfort:
We like to be warm, cosy, coca-cola, caviar, champagne…
Bethlehem- its an impression of human heart, its comfortable for all, except Jesus.
But Jesus demonstrates us ,that he can be born even in the most uncomfortable conditions!
Even more so he wants to be born in my uncomfortable apartment.
Who am i in that stable?
Mary?-lack of obedience
Joseph?- not as brave
Maybe i am just a sheep, who followed a kind shepherd?
Maybe i am hay that surrounds Jesus?
Or maybe i am a stable that hosts unwecomed guests????
There is a strength in the weakness of newborn baby
Because the fragility of newborn child has a huge strength, the strength to change my disbelief, my stubborness, my egoistic tendencies , my unforgiveness.
I am so self centered that i dont give him a chance to cuddle me.
All those circumstances , mistakes and problems that broght me to this stable - they are all blessed circumstances, mistakes and problems!
My Bethlehem is becoming alive again! i am living coldness, rejection, misunderstanding and in the same time manifestation, mistery, peace, joy, hope , confidence that my erthly life will not end. because life that started in bethlehem is only beginning and there is no end in him!

Евочка, ти як філософ сучасності, заставляєш задуматися над такими важливими для кожної людини питаннями. У нас дійсно спотворене сприйняття Різдва. А Різдво це набагато глибше має бути, ніж звичні дії, які ми робимо кожного року (прибирання, готування). Різдво має стати тим період в житті, коли ми стаємо трохі кращі, трохі добріші, трохі милосердніші. Я вважаю, що саме в період треба робити добрі справи, які нам не вдалося зробити раніше, нести доброту, щирість, любов в світ, дарувати це все тим людям, які, можливо, і не чекають цього всього.
