A big plus to stocking stuff like this is the ability to stay home. I've lived through 3 catagory 5 hurricanes. I never once had to venture out and stand in lines to get 'handouts'. Being able to stay home for the first week or two, when things are lawless is a Good Thing.

    Hi Pat,
Based upon what I see, you don't have much preps.
First start getting buckets worth of food. Buy some 25\50 lbs bags of oatmeal, barley, wheat, beans, & potato flakes, and build a large stock pile of canned food: Soups with meat, canned meat, fruit, veggies. A years worth of food is about 750 lbs per person. Also get a small propane camping stove & a 20 lbs Propane tank adapter. You can cook a lot of meals with a propane camping stove with a 20 lbs propane tank.
Second, Get a small inverter generator like the Honda 2200i that runs very quite and can run ~600W load for 8 hours on 1 gal. of gasoline. That noisy Generator makes a lot of racket, and burns a lot of fuel.
Third a bug out plan, is no plan at all, as you just be a refugee with limited access to supplies. Consider re-locating and building yourself a homestead which you can been food, water, & energy self-reliant.

This video is kickass!! More people need to be thinking beyond guns and fighting so they don't become predators after getting caught without these things presented in the video when the shit hits the fan!
As someone who's been preparing for over a decade, I've learned a lot! Folks, you should be thinking long term, and homesteading. Having food stocked up is ONLY a buffer, but when the crap hits the fan, and you tap into your stocked up food, you've begun the countdown to starvation! Becoming resilient means you are actively making yourself less and less dependent upon the system and government. Stocking up on food and water is short to mid term preparedness. Y'all need to be thinking longer term. Growing food requires a lot more than just seeds, and its harder than you think it is. NOW is the time to work out the problems and fail, so that you may learn while the system is intact. You absolutely do not want to fail when the supply chain fails, or when fuel runs out and grocery stores can't stock their food. Wells are long term water solutions, but always always have water redundancy!! One is none, two is one and three is where you want to be! Focus more on long term food growing while you stock up your buffer supplies. Food on shelves is a buffer for when things don't go as planned. The Porta Well is one of THE BEST water filtration options on the market! A gallon of water per minute! The owner Bob is fantastic! I have two Porta Wells and a giant tub of filters!
Generators! Gas generators are great except they make a lot of noise. Not a good thing. You don't want to attract unwanted attention. Its good to have, but think solar. Many robust solar options on the market, however, in light of current global events between EMP capable super powers, I can only recommend Solark EMP hardened systems if you can afford it. They make several sizes of inverters and they are the most thoroughly EMP tested systems on the market and they provide ferrite suppressors for your appliances! Get Solark! Veteran owned, and one of the very best companies I've seen in a long time regarding customer support/service. Solar power is silent, and the energy they gather is replenishable for 25 years! Go with ARK batteries! They have field replaceable battery management systems. They are expensive, but the batteries are safer and last longer than lead acids!
    Food operations:
Get the Home Biogas 4 with composting toilet! It will create gas for you to cook with, and liquid fertilizer to store for growing food! Get your cow or horse manure stocked up! You can get free manure from farms! Learn composting NOW! DOWNLOAD VIDEOS ABOUT IT, AND SAVE IT! LEARN NOW! YOU'LL THANK ME LATER!
Buy and plant comfrey! Get the Aero Mixer and Aero Brewer, and a white plastic 55 gallon drum to make comfrey tea brews for your gardens!
Go to Lehman's website and purchase a good US made clothes line, and the Lavario portable clothes washer! Remember... LESS DEPENDENCY = MORE RESILIENCY! LEARN TO DEAL WITH BUGS IN YOUR GARDEN! I cannot stress that enough! Get a UV Beast light to find tomato and potato horned worms at night! They will decimate your tomatoes and potatoes! Tomato fruit worms as well. Learn about and take disease seriously. You have to make a life style change to survive what is apparently coming. Live in the city? GTFO! Agenda 2030!! Research it!
    I love you all!
    Good Luck!

You have made an excellent start. I recommend you add insulation to the walls and ceiling of the shed and then sheath the interior with thin wood paneling or gypsum board or pallet boards. You never know if you might have to live in that shed if something bad happens to your home or you if decide to give shelter to neighbors, relatives or friends whose homes have been wrecked in a disaster. The shed will need at least two screened windows for cross ventilation in warm weather and a small source of vented, grid down heat for winter weather. Fold-down bunk platforms with twin-size cot mattresses or sleeping pads can let you covert a shed from storage area to cabin in minutes. Sturdy wooden or corrugated metal shutters over each window can better secure the shed from thieves when it is not being used as living space. Obviously, the shed should have a sturdy exterior door equipped with deadbolt locks to keep out amateur thieves. And do wall mount a fire extinguisher inside next to the door and also mount a CO detector inside if you plan on using a propane heater or small wood burner inside the shed.
Also recommend you store your fuels and any gas-powered or diesel generator in a different shed that is at least 30 feet away from your home and your main supply shed. Plan on removing the fuel-powered generator from your fuels shed anytime you need to test that generator. Ground the fuels shed against lightning strikes and make sure the shed has plenty of ventilation so fuel vapors cannot build up inside or just one spark could turn a tight shed into a bomb.
Consider moving your long-term food storage to a location that will be a lot cooler during warm weather (air-conditioned room, dry basement or root cellar). Temperatures above 75" F will reduce the storage length of your long-term food storage. Solar power banks need to be kept below a certain temperature or they will not work -- a closed shed in full sun during summer months can exceed those temperatures.
Temperatures at freezing or below will cause the wet foods in cans and jars to expand and break the seals. Store wet foods in a location where they will not freeze.
Make sure that field mice, rats and other small rodents cannot get to your household paper products, or they will shred them to make nests. Empty, steel, oil drums with tight-fitting lids are rodent proof. A healthy house cat living in your prepper shed or food storage area at night is also a good deterrent against gnawing rodents. There is always something else that can be done to be better prepared, but you have made an excellent start.

Entertainment is critical. You will be stressed out and need to take care of your brain/mind as well as your body. I LOVE reading, but during the stress of a hurricane, I couldnt concentrate on a book. I pick up some cheap DVDs when I go to wally world. I can run them in a laptop or small portable DVD player that is easy to charge by solar.
A deck of cards and some board games help keep families together.
Also on the brain/mind thing, have some benadryl on hand, not just as an antihystamine, but as a sedative if you or someone else needs to calm down/go to sleep. A bit of alcohol can also be handy, but be careful it doesn't get abused.

One quick suggestion - bleach is a popular stockpile item, but it degrades fairly quickly, even when sealed, and may not render water safe to drink when needed most. It's better to store some calcium hypochlorite powder (“pool shock”) instead. It’s inexpensive and, in powder form, it has an indefinite shelf life. A 1lb bag (about $5) can purify 10,000 gallons of water.

A couple of points on alcohol. I don't drink, but store some anyway. 1.) for medicinal purposes, 2.) For trade, 3.) as a fuel.
I like pure grain alcohol, like Everclear. You can mix it with something to drink, use it to clean/disinfect wounds and other things, make tinctures with medicinal herbs, and use it as a fuel in various stoves.
For trade, I keep different grades and sizes of booze. You can get rotgut vodka for just a few dollars. What would someone trade you for a fifth in times of trouble? Also have some better quality stuff on hand for more valuable trades. I also keep pints and the mini-bar/airplane size as small 'denomination' units if I'm trading for something small.

Good stuff. One suggestion I would make is to swap out that siphon hose with a clear one. I got a mouthful once siphoning from a pressure washer and the suction caused a good bit to rush down my throat, it happened fast as hell!

Great vid! Before the pandemic, I always joked about the three things we all need if shit hit the fan were water, toilet paper and ammo. Everyone laughed but I was right.

Regarding emergency food, I think variety is unimportant when the alternative is hunger, but nutrition will be more important than ever. I've stocked protein rich foods like Spam, corned beef, and canned fish alongside a bunch of white rice, and also included some canned cod liver and multivitamins. Don't skimp on the stuff that will keep you healthy, it's not all about simple survival.

Agreed. A lot of those prepper meals are really high in carbs, low in protein.

@@wcc1212 Old comment I’m aware, but the science on carbs mixed with proteins is that carbs are protein sparing. Coming from the molecular standpoint, carbs will increase your body’s ability to synthesize proteins which would increase the amount per serving that you’re actually using. In essence, decreased protein intake can be acceptable as long as your carb intake is steadily higher.

invest in a freeze drier then you can scrap a lot of the premade foods.. shelf life on freeze dry is insane too..

au contraire, I had to scramble to get toilet paper the first time around. Now, I have a probably a two year supply. And I ain't even a prepper. People learn. Same with disinfectant wipes, baby wipes the other weird things that flew off the shelves. And SpaghettiOs. Didn't realize so many people thought SpaghettiO's are a necessity besides me💪💪

Nice job. If you want that food stuff (like coffee, creamer, etc) to last longer, get zipper Mylar bags and oxygen absorbers. Seal that stuff in those bags and it will last much longer.

Preparedness is something to joke about until it's needed, then it ceases being funny. Prepping is a way of life or mindset, many gen x were raised that way. Stores run out of stuff when people panic. If everyone would just buy 1 or 2 extra items each time they went to the store the logistics system could handle it. Those same people are the ones that panic buys with every storm. No matter how many times you tell some people they just won't listen, they deserve what they get. Have a wonderful day!
