The freedom is the best part of it. My family lives minimally, which allows me to work very little and spend a lot of time with my son. The mental burden this has taken off me is immense, I am so grateful to have this lifestyle.
One lesson I've learned is that minimalism looks different for everyone and everyone is one their own journey. Meaning, you shouldn't beat yourself up or feel discouraged if you're not at the same point in your journal as someone else. Don't compare yourself and do your best!
My grandmother and grandfather and their entire community in their Ranch in Mexico have been living minimalism their entire lives. Everything is organic which I believe is why people out there live longer years. My grandma has had the same pair of scissors and same pots and needles as when my mom was a baby.
I’ve learned that I have a L O N G way to go. I look to you and other minimalists to keep reinforcing that mindset and to keep me on track when the FOMO makes me want to surf the web for new clothing purchases. Clothing shopping has been a hobby and a way to fill time. Seeing others living simply helps reinforce that perspective that we have enough and to appreciate and utilize what we already have.
Minimalism really helped me to work through a lot of mental clutter that I didn't even realise I had. I can know live and think with so much more clarity and enjoy my hobbies and passions because I can devote time to them that I previously gave to maintaining my stuff. I can now spend a whole afternoon reading, baking or writing on my blog and it's amazing! Thank you for your video.
After years as a natural minimalist I realized the more I have the more bothered I become. I would have decors on the wall (THE LEAST YOU COULD IMAGINE) and sometimes looking at them makes me want to take them down and just stare at a blank wall. Lol, my husband says I live like I'm in jail. 😅 But I tell him, the less I have the more space I have to be stress-free.
I absolutely loved this video 🥰 I’m just starting on my minimalist journey and have come across your channel!! Thank you so much for inspiring me and making me see that it can bring so much peace and calm to my soul 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I've learned that minimalism will look different for everyone. I've had comments on my minimalism videos that I'm not a true minimalist, that I just have less stuff. I think we should be less concerned about the number of items we own and more focused on how we use these items, how often we welcome more items into our homes and, as you astutely mentioned, how we declutter the items that no longer serve us. xo, Enza
Me and my husband had to start minimalism. There was one time he was like I DONT HAVE SHIRTS TO WEAR! I counted all his shirts that night and counted 74 shirts and 8 pants. I told him afterwards, he was very disappointed with himself. We started to sort out his clothes, sold some and then donated most. Now he has 15 shirts and is very happy with it. He gets to wear all of them in 2 weeks (just in time for laundry) and we have so much closet space! IT is the way to go
thank you for sharing these 7 points of true experience. i find them insightful and honest. i went for many rounds of decluttering thru time...listening to my body, heart, surroundings, and yes, even the things...i thank them before find them new homes.
I am so very much happy for you and your husband for being a born again Christian, rightfully following minimalism yet not fully focussing on it but what makes us happy at the end of the day. May God continue bless to two
Thanks for all your videos, l just want let you know that your videos are change my life, l have so much peace in mind since l started watch your video, and tbh l just want to say your channel is my favourite, GBU :)
Found these tips very useful Christine. Hope your Cookie Business is running well. Bless dear Christine, Peter and darling Cooper. Much love from Zurich - Switzerland.
Love your ideas for minimalism. The thrift stores are overrun by donations of consumerism. Too many items to consume. Most items at thrift stores if not sold within 6 weeks are then recycled or goes to trash. Stuffed animals are unstuffed then sent to a recycler who shreds the stuffed animals for rug liner. Plastic items are shredded too.
The best way to start minimalist is, stop buying. Use what you already have. Don’t throw things out just because you want to become a minimalist. Take as long as you need to clear and clean your house.
My biggest barrier to minimalism has always been the guilt of getting rid of perfectly good things that I don’t want to waste, from a sentimental perspective and also from a zero waste perspective. I want to declutter but it’s hard for me to get rid of gifts from friends and family and I’m also concerned about a product’s end of life. I usually end up trying to wash out and save plastic containers and save them for that “one day I can use it” and I still end up with clutter. I feel like if I could just overcome that initial hurdle of decluttering in a sustainable way, I’d be able to start really practicing minimalism. Would love to hear your thoughts on how to get started! 🤗
Would you consider making a video on being zero waste during the pandemic? For example, my grocery stopped the bulk foods section due to safety measures. I guess I'm just wondering how you manage to be zero waste when everything seems to be packaged in plastic.
I especially like the last sentence"Minimalism dose not define me or you." Ya.Minimalism is just a part of life. just a tool to open up opportunities for other things.
Some of the minimalism videos i see are clearly OCD related...Minimalism shouldn´t be a result of a menthal disorder but a healthy and conscious lifestyle.
Do you have recipes? I really liked the dish you made at the beginning of the video... was wondering what did you make and what ingredients did you use? 💚 Love your videos ^^
I am not a minimalist , however I did a huge purge last summer and I have been getting rid of things ever since . I do love my space and my life now that it’s a lot lighter. Why keep around things that you haven’t used in years ?
Thank you Natalie! Many of them are thrifted, but one is from Black Crane, the other is from the brand Flax. The last one I have no clue because the tag is missing!
Yo cada dia intento ser mas minimalista con todo ropa objetos etc porque me agobia tener tantas cosas. Ademas intento que todo lo que se tenga en casa sea de usar pero no de tirar y si se va a tirar que se le de un segundo uso.
Less stuff- less things to take care of, spend time to repair, fix, clean, ugh Imagine doing laundry with TONS of clothing, washing 1000 cups, forks everyday! Nah, I love myself and my time
No children in the home. It's easy to clean up. Does she have any visitors? Do they stay in a hhotel? How does she afford a pet? What kind of salary do they make?
I discovered minimalism about 2,5 years ago. I took me so many rounds of decluttering and I am not done yet. But this weekend I got rid of the colors on my living room wall. I finally feel like my house reflects my values and I actually feel like a minimalist. So, it might take a while till you get where you want to be. And that's okay.
I love how you talked about minimalism not being the only thing the defines you. I think that’s the issue with RUclips channels is that they only show the one side of the human, even though you are a multifaceted person!
Its amazing that you have been practicing minimalism for 7 years. Your life looks so free of clutter . I just started with minimalism and hope to see my life as clutter free as yours.
I started being a minimalist when I was 20 yo and it saves me a lot of money but also showed me that minimalism is not (only) to have less things but (also) to just keep what I need and use.
I believe that your minimalism is a by product of you being content in the Lord.. you bless me Christine in many ways. I realized that im being covetous which turns me to acquire things.. but God is full of mercy and grace that He brings influences in our lives... and that influence is you in my life.. thank you very much for this meaningful content.
This year, I decided to start a minimalistic lifestyle. More than working on my personal finances and letting go of things I no longer see myself using in the next couple of months, it made me realize how much non-essential things I own. Who are at their 20s who are working on themselves this year?
I work for a lot of different people. I look and see all their beautiful things and comment on how lovely their homes are, yet it’s overwhelming for me to be surrounded by so many things. Many were surprised that I became a minimalist about ten years ago. They are curious but they say they can’t part with any of their things. My house looks boring to most. But it’s a calming place to come home to.
Your space...your videos....they are so peaceful and calming. Definitely motivating me to continue decluttering my home and simplifying as much as possible!
I feel minimalism can mean different things to different people and there is definitely not a single way to adopt minimalism into our lives. What helps is to find out what really serves us and what not and lead in this lifestyle in a more intuitive way :) I like how you try to portray that in your videos :)
Why do most minimalists have only white? Have a white kitchen with color accents. Put some nice art in your walls, people! You can have these. It’s the amount of things not the color!
Trying to be a minimalist when you are a craftsperson isn't easy. I had to acknowledge that I need supplies and tools that I won't be using regularly, that my space can and will be messy while working on some projects, and that it doesn't need to be perfect. Still, I've been able to be more organized and aware of the things I use and how I use them, and I'm learning to buy only what I'll actually use in the immediate future... I'm not just saving space and avoiding clutter, I'm also saving money by doing this.
Thank you for this vid 💞 especially loved the last one and was just talking to my boyfriend about this - despite the niches that are shown through social media, we are all multidimensional people and each on our own journeys. :)
Thank you for this, been trying to gradually more live a minimalist lifestyle in an attempt to improve my mental health and this video made the whole minimalism thing seem less of a big tidy up and more of a lifestyle change.
It has greatly improved my anxiety. I'm glad that I really put thought into anything I purchase now. My mindset has completely changed with consuming and advertisements of people telling me what I need. We would be surprised to see how little we really NEED to live a meaningful life. ☺️
My husband and I recently purchased a trailer last Jan and I kept buying stuff for it (which was necessary) but it ended up draining me. I'm at a place now where I'm content w all that I have, and I'm done purchasing all around and want to focus more on myself instead and need to save more. Let's be honest, a huge advantage to minimalism is the financial side of it, no debt, more freedom, more money left at the end of the month.
The freedom is the best part of it. My family lives minimally, which allows me to work very little and spend a lot of time with my son. The mental burden this has taken off me is immense, I am so grateful to have this lifestyle.
So true !

Im still trying to practice minimalism in our life and noticed that I spend less & less time now trying to organize our home. Thank you for this video

Its definitely a process, but the strong motivation keeps me on track. One step at a time.

Love this! Have you done a video already on how you came into minimalism? If not, would definitely be interested in seeing that.

Loving your words about minimalism 🤍
I especially like the last sentence"Minimalism dose not define me or you." Ya.Minimalism is just a part of life. just a tool to open up opportunities for other things.
It totally brought me closer to God, minimalism helped me realize just how temporary this world is.
I love your house decoration
Beautifully explained!
I learned to notice small little things along the way of decluttering and realised how much attention I didn't even pay to them before buying them.
What a thoughtful video❣ ... and helpful aswell... thank you❣🙂

Does minimalism mean not embracing any colour? Why do all minimalist homes have a neutral palate?
ahh, the wisdom..

Ooh, I saw that tofu and thought of something I've long wanted to know. Does a plastic-free tofu package exist in the US? Are you making your own?
You can buy tofu from Asian store, bring your own container to scoop the square into.

Less clutter
So a trend with these minimalists is that everything should be white? I like to have color in my closet, my walls.
Definitely not! Neutral colors make it a bit easier to match things and can have a calming effect, but it's not a requirement. (:
