Not saying this doesn't already, but saying the tone changes and parts not mashing well are alright because the song is based on a bootleg version of a game is not a good excuse. It's possible for a song to have tone changes, but you really have to do your best to make it still sound consistent and good.

I like to think that in the SonicNES game if you don’t go exploring the levels to find secrets related to John Walter’s crimes you get the bad ending with the victims not being freed but in the good ending the victims are freed leaving John to rot in his own creation
