The bravest 50 against 500. His company was under fire and they were lesser in number than the enemy, by a ratio of seven to one. But he didn’t budge. Due to his bravery and heroism along with his troops, the Indian Army was able to save the Srinagar Airport and the entire Jammu and Kashmir from the Pakistani infiltrators.

@@Anonymous244kk ahir company in 4 was A Company. Rest were pure Kumaoni Rajput Company. Sepoy Dewan Singh, Mahavir Chakra, Subedar prem singh mehta all were kumaoni martyrs of Badgam. There is no ahirs names in memorial too

D company soldiers were all Ahir /Yadav's of Haryana.
All the soldiers of battle of badgam 1947 from the Kumaon regiment are kumaonis not ahirs . In 1962 , 13 Kumaon consist of ahirs not 4 Kumaon. 4 Kumaon is a kumaoni battalion not ahir battalion.
