Fodder for demagogues. Blaming the poor, the French, foreigners, public employees, unions, blame and blame. Worry and Anxiety. Put it all together and you find a politics of nastiness and an inability to debate. : (
If we have to look hear this, Reich is the man to do it.

Tragedy is not when the unethical triumphs over the ethical, but when two separate ethics are in conflict. Consider the conflict between liberty and life in the issue of abortion. Debate and compromise between two absolute values can only result in the gulf of political civility.

+Kenneth Slayor interestingly, this isn't a conflict in most of europe. But then again, in most of europe "evolution" or "climate change" is not a conflict, so maybe we europeans are just wrong.
