Yes, 2016 was really the best edition ever. The songs, the contest itself, the presentation, the hosts, Sweden, the logo and design..... Everything really was perfect! I totally agree with you, Wiwibloggs!
Our readers totally agree with YOU! Thank you for watching Thibaud.
@@Wiwibloggs and the slogan gave us the best dirty joke potential EVER. LOL
They didnt discuss that 2016 had the best hosts ever by a mile....best interval show (Love Love Peace Peace) etc...
Petra and mans were a perfect pairing. Class acts. They know how to put on a show. 😍
Ja Sverige är best😌😌
Don't forget guys that 2016 was the first year that the jury votes and televote were announced separately which added extra excitment
LOVE THAT DETAIL! It added so much DRAMA!
@@Wiwibloggs love you guys. Big fan of your enthusiasm and work that you put in for us Eurovision aficionados. Keep it up and stay safe
Australia was robbed because of that!
Looking at Eurovision 2019 Israel did so much more then we expected the technology the leds the screen the stage everything was so well prepared the hosts were good the postcards were amazing it was my fav Eurovision ever!
They made a small arena look enormous! I also loved the opening shot of the grand final with the plane. That was very memorable!
I was just having a discussion a week ago with my friend, and we've both agreed that 2016 is our favorite edition of ESC of the last decade, bc of the quality of the songs, the staging, the postcards, the hosts, everything basically was impressive and memorable.
What good timing!
2016 was my fav, but 2015 was my second fav and I feel like it's so underrated. 😕
Yeah, Austria did a great job that year.
But the host were like robots 🤖
2015 was brilliant. Australia, Belgium, Israel, Serbia and Slovenia were superb.
2015 was lit 🔥
Every song and performance in the final was excellent
Agree! Austria 2015 was so amazing
everything about 2016 was perfect.. the stage.. the music... the hosts it was actually FUNNY and a really exciting voting sequence. definitely my fav eurovison year
2016 was the best (and my favorite) contest year of the past decade. Almost every song in the final was so good (or at least had good merits), the hosts were funny and great (to think they had the responsibility of introducing the voting system that we have been having since that year), the production was professional, the postcards were incredibly creative, the interval acts were spectacular (and best part is the artists weren't even overshadowed by JT!), and the voting drama made for great live TV (mind you, this contest occurred during the height of tensions between Russia and Ukraine!). I couldn't think of any contest that can top this, and it's kinda sad that 2020 would have been as great as 2016 if it wasn't cancelled.
Next year.
@@alanagallacher9144 Yeah, we'll most like have most of the participants who would have performed next year, but we'll have to wait for the quality of the songs to make a fair comparison.
I can't say a specific year when it comes to my favourite Eurovision edition of the 2010s. I need to combine elements from different years to depict my ideal Eurovision:
-venue: 2012 or 2018 (big enough, but not too big as in 2011)
-stage design: 2012 (how big the stage is) and/or 2018
-opening-flag parade: 2019 (best flag parade ever)
-presenters: 2016 (not too awkward + able to sing as guest acts)
-song quality: 2016 or 2018
-guest acts in opening and/or interval: singing presenters in 2016 (semifinal 2) or 2017 (semifinal 2), and 2019's switch song.
-voting announcements: 2019 (especially the televoting announcement, adding more excitement).
2015 my favorite by far with the amazing stage and latvia, belgium, and italy were amazing. Also the debut of Australia
YESSSS THANK YOU totally agree
From a production point of view 2016 was unbelievably good: staging, hosts Måns & Petra. It was my first Eurovision as a keen fan and after every year I just need to go back to 2016
You raise a good point. "Best edition" has many different facets.
I truly believe no one will EVER Match the brilliance of their joint hosting.
William: Every top7 act should have won
8. Michal Szpak: cries in all colors of his life
And "If I were sorry" from Sweden ended up 5th, but it was awful 🤢 My least favorite in 2016.
My favorites are 2012❤ and
2019❤
Love you wiwibloggs❤💫
I can’t decide on my favourite but I am very fond of 2011. It couldn’t be the worst. I think people just don’t like the winning song.
I was literally thinking that during the live chat on the video. I think the overall show was so cohesive!
2016 set such a high bar, and still holds it
2016 is a really good edition. The most impressive fact about this show is that it is under a tight budget. I've read that it almost costs the same as 2013.
2015, 2018 and 2019 had the best music, postcards and running. I am biased to 2019 due to my lineage from TA in one side, but 2018 was all about the music, Toy v Feugo was unforgettable, and the postcard music was superb. How would it have been done in 2020, and how would the postcards be done for a contest with all the acts, but few fans and some HODs not travelling.
Totally agree. 2016 was my first year watching Eurovision and it definitely got me hooked!
So glad your love of Eurovision is here to stay!
2019 has the best songs by far for me ❤ but I love the whole production and show of 2014 and 2010 was my first contest so that's really special to me too :)
As a pole I have to admit - 2016 was the best editiong ever despite fact that Michal Szpak was 2nd in televote and 2nd to last from jury ;__; I loved ,,love love peace peace"
3rd in the televote.
@@sav0001 Upsss... You are right :)
To me 2015 is my favourite because the quality of songs was so high. I liked most of the songs in the final and even some of the non qualifiers.
Me, even before the video starts: Yes, yes it is.
Most of my favorite songs ever are from that year and also it had the best interval act EVER.
So memorable that interval!
2016 is definetely the Best produced and the memories are connected with the 2016 Stockholm are just extremely stunning, and of course one of the reasons of being the Best is the Queen Iveta Mukuchyan💋💋💋
Glad you have these beautiful memories about THE QUEEN!
From 2012 to 2019 they are all my favorites, so good!!
Nice streak!
I have a special love for 2018 because it was my first ESC liveandwe had such a blast in Lisbon (and the fooood😍). The songs were also amazing! But I do agree that 2016 had amazing songs AND the best hosts we've ever had!
Omg 2012 was one of my favourite as well. The songs, the stage, the performances. Wow
A beautiful year for sure 😃
2012 was a year of the biggest hits in the world and it impact Eurovision too, my fav one for sure too 😊
2012, 2016 and 2019 were the best eurovision edditions of this decade 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I also loved Düsseldorf 2011, and don't get why it's so unpopular :D I started watching Eurovision in 2010, so 2011 was my first year where I followed like a real fan and I have so many great memories listening to the songs.
YAY! There was great diversity that year I thought.
Because of the winners
I agree, Düsseldorf was amazing ☺️
Düsseldorf had one of the best stages but I wasn't a fan of the songs overall
Great to see you both looking so well. 2016 was an amazing production; thanks Stockholm. The performances that year were incredible, and the hosts (Petra & Måns) were surely the best hosts. But I also love 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015... so perhaps 2016 was when it all “came together” after years of successes.
Hahaha, nice pun!
My favourites:
1. 2012 ( Baku was just on fire, I loved how big the stage was, I loved almost all the songs, the vibe was great)
2. 2016 ( the stage out of this world, the hosts were just amaziiinng, I loved the songs and Sweden just know what to do)
3. 2014 ( my favourite stage, i loved all the songs)
In terms of songs I personally like its 2015 for me. Having not been to an actual contest..yet I can't comment on the venue/city but I'm hoping Rotterdam will be fab. X
I think 2012 was the best Eurovision. There was the debut of the Queen of Eurovision, Valentina Monetta 😎 the stage in which all began 😎 And what can i say about Bulgaria's performance... Amazing! Only Sofi Marinova and a microphone on the stage. No earphones, no dancers. PURE SHOW!
I’m writing this before seeing the video, even the comments and I can easily say that Eurovision 2016 was the best year for me - my fav song won, Dami’s song was amazing, Sergey too and also my country Bulgaria got the best result before Kristian and became the most memorable song in the Eurovision song contest! I can never forget this year! Also the hosts are just perfect 🤩
🇸🇪 💙💛
@@Wiwibloggs and you are of course the BEST 💖
Аааа българин 😁 😁 😁
@@harithoma-a-8157 yessss 🤣🤣 🇧🇬
I LOVE the 2016 one but I think I'd have to pick 2015 for sentimental reasons. I'm Swedish and was living in the US at the time and I was quite homesick and my mental health was really low. Watching the semi finals on SVT play with the Swedish commentary made me feel closer to home. And then, watching the final and seeing Måns, and us, actually win - that was huge for me and a big comfort somehow. I'll always treasure that show for that reason. I also love their slogan, the theme song slaps, we got Guy Sebastian killing it in Australia's debut, all around just a really solid year!
That's a really lovely memory! We are so happy the show was able to help you!

Thanks for sharing! William will approve of your #1 while Deban will shriek! haha
@@Wiwibloggs 2011, hosts were great especially Anke, scoreboard and logo were great with that 💜purple and 🖤black combination, the voting was on edge, 🇩🇪🇬🇧🇮🇪🇸🇪🇺🇦🇸🇮🇦🇿🇷🇺🇧🇦🇫🇷 had great songs and even non qualifiers and low placers were still great🇳🇴🇮🇱🇪🇪🇧🇬🇸🇰🇨🇭.
And it was the first Eurovision I ever watched.
The big 5 were extremely strong (except Italy controversial 😂)
To me, nothing can surpass the 2018 contest, the songs, the stage, the presenters.... everything was gorgeous! 💖
Girl Power! We loved the array of hosts as well, and of course the Netta v Eleni battle.
You guys make me so happy, love all your videos!
Interval acts in Eurovision 2019 was amazing. Switch song is the best thing in Eurovision 2019. It's the best show for me
LOVED THE SWITCH SONG INTERVAL!
ESC EVANS Thank you for Madonna's autotune.
2016 for me purely because of the postcards. I absolutely loved the typography animation for every country.
2016 was an amazing show. The songs were really good and the staging was fab. Later years were very good too but 2016 takes the gold from me. I also have a plan for my wedding which involves the Eurovision album for that year.
Best opening at the grand final 😍😍 the catwaaaaaalk..
Fashion, fashion, baby! Loved how modern it was!
I just love it when these two get in a major spat LOL
READY! haha!
@@Wiwibloggs ok who exactly responded to this? William, Deban, or someone else? just curious LOL
Deban zoning out gives me life 😂😂😂
My ultimate favourite is ESC 2018. I can't believe BONES finished 14th and all songs above it could also compete for the 1st place. Such a tough year and ZiBBZ not qualifying for the final proves it.
1. 2016
2. 2014
3. 2019
Thank you for sharing!
arena - 2011 or 2018 (huge)
hosts - 2016 (obviously)
intervals - 2016 (love love peace peace)
opening - actually 2011 or 2016 (2011 underrated) 2012 (fireworks)
stage - 2011 (led) 2014, 2015
theme music - 2018 hands down
It was one of the best, but not the only one. The best Eurovision is not only determined by hosts. 2016 has the best hosts, 2018 had the best songs, 2019 had the best interval/opening acts (together with 2014) and the best winner, 2017 had the best stage (all in my personal view), 2011 had the best diversity, 2012 was the best 'show' so you can say something for all the contests actually
Based on the songs, i say 2015. However i also loved 2018 because it was finally in my country.
So awesome you got to experience Eurovision in your country!
This last decade the best years were 2016, 2015, 2012 and 2019
The worst years were 2013 and specially 2017
Best ones in my opinion are 2015, 2016, 2017, 2011 and 2008 (My first one)
2015, 2018😍❤
Those years both featured some awesome songs
I miss 2016!
3rd: Vienna 2015
2nd: Stockholm 2016
1st: Lisbon 2018 - I submitted my undergrad dissertation on the Tuesday of Eurovision week that year so I treated myself with some relaxing time watching the shows and visiting one of my best friends for the final.
Funnily enough, Darlington FC were playing Soldi before a match just a few weeks ago and it was very distracting because I was live on radio reporting on the pre-match news while it was playing.
Production from 2020 technologically was the best ever. They had moving stage and it was felt it was several different stages not same one. Production was perfect, the best ever.
It’s 2012 as my favorite and 2016 as my 2nd favorite (but favorite winner, I LOVE 1944)
2016. Four words: Love. Love. Peace. Peace.
My favourite years in this decade are 2016 & 2012 )
Strong choices :)
I feel like the Eurovision has step up it's game since 2014 in all aspects. I really like all the editions since then.
2016 my favourite because i watched it with my mom,she passed 3 years ago.❤
My favourites are 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018
Barei with her Say yay! was amazing, I thought Spain would be amongst the winners. One of the favorites. But not even close in the end. 20th position or something like that.
My top 10 is I think:
1. 2019
2. 2018
3. 2016
4. 2012
5. 2015
6. 2014
7. 2010
8. 2011
9. 2013
10. 2017
In terms of songs, 2017 had the best ones in my opinion. The venue, I'd say 2019 was best. Hosts? 2016. There's something good in every year :)
You're so right -- each year has its perks and highlights!
So unpopular opinion, but my fav 2004 lol😉. So traditional, unique, crowded a year!
You do you! Many fans of that edition!
@@Wiwibloggs 🙏🏼
Don't forget 2017, that was also very great for me!
Salvador was an amazing winner. Loved the tense race between Portugal and Bulgaria.
Yeah I love 2017, it deserves a lot more love. The top 6 were really good in my opinion ❤
2016 is definitely up there with the greats in this decade - but the scale and approach feels so different from say 2011 to 2014 for example so it makes this question quite interesting!
For me:
1. 2016
2. 2019
= 2018
3. 2014
= 2013.
So many greats this decade maaaaan!
BTW, William's hair looks amazing
Thank you Monica!!!
I should say that 2016 is the best edition ever because of Dami Im, Jamala, etc.
Deep field! So many deserving acts near the top.
By far 2019 was much much better than 2016! The Swedish one felt a bit too forced and not so imaginative. The Israelis, from the beginning, showed innovation, originality and modernity, from the slick logo and stunning stage design, to the beautiful and original postcards and screen projections. Everything was flowing and nothing felt too forced on the viewers. Just perfect! And not to mention Bar Refaeli, the most beautiful host to ever grace the Eurovision stage! ;-)
The hosts were terrible in 2019....the stilted English and attempted humour
made me cringe
@@garrywallace1007 , Someone complaining about the English from a non-English speaking country in Eurovision, now that’s a major cringe! It’s Eurovision! We live for the foreign accents and diversity in this show! 🤷🏻♂️
I’ll never forgive the political jury vote-2016
2018 best year ever
2016 most definitely was
2012! Albania! hellllooooooo!!!!! Rona Nishliu - Suus! i think 2013 was an amazing line up of songs too - Norway, belgium, Italy!
I remember a discussion on Gagadaily after all the competitors had been announced, someone posted "poor Sweden!"
I was less salty back then, but today I'd say something like "you got a one-way ticket back to reform school!"
2016 is not my favourite edition, but it was really well produced. My favourite is probably 2014. I like a lot of songs from that year(that I still listen to), the stage is the most beautiful of the decade and I liked the presenters as well. I loved 2019 too, but Madonna kind of ruined it for me. Also the most memorable for us Dutchies ;)
My top 3 would be
1. 2014
2. 2019
3. 2017
A lot of love for 2014! #JoinUs!
"A house divided yet again..." wow that got me 😂
Draaaama! 😂
Maybe you just forget it and I understand but 2009... nothing to say: the stage, the logo, the POSTCARDS, the songs, the Cirque du Soleil!! But 2016 still deserves the best Eurovision show EVER
They considered Eurovisions since 2010 that's why
to answer the question - yes
... talking about late broadcasting hours in Baku...
Me (UTC+3) - what do you mean, of course it's late, it always starts at 22:00! Skip the introductions and chattery - boom 22:30 before the 1st song hits
Wow! You need coffee for sure!
William your hair is amazing 😂
And I feel so happy that you like Portugal :) even I don't appreciate it sometimes... It just warms my heart to know that you were well received here
Thank you Marina!! We have nothing but warm feelings for Portugal :)
My fav is 2018 (then 2019, 2015, 2016/2017 etc)
2016 is my favorite edition, and it wasn't even my first one (first was 2018)
I'd say even the top 15 from that year could've won and I'd have been fine, that's how strong the competition was, and it's the only edition where I don't skip from the performances to the voting, as I also do enjoy the hosting and the interval acts (well... except for Justin Timberlake lol)
2023, along with 2021 and 2019 were amazing! But 2016 is slightly better than those cause great hosts lol
2016 Stockholm, Love love peace peace made
it.
I like how no one mentions anything about 2017 in the comments and how it just gets left out among the neighboring years of 2016, 2018 and 2019
omg i can agree that 2016 was one of the best editions ever!
Glad you enjoyed :)
2016 is the best show of the last decade for sure. Actually, it's the best show in general following by ESC2009. I can't choose my favorite edition. ESC2009 had the rightful winner. On the other hand, Sergey should have been the official winner of 2016.
yesssssss my favourite what an amazing year
2016 is indeed still my fav one 💕
For me, 2015 is overatted! The edition was not so spectacular! My fav was 2016 and my least fav was 2011 also
Of course 2016 because there was Poli Genova :-) ❤
Everything was the best! The songs, the hosts, the organization. All!
We feel your PASSION!

5) 2016
6) 2019
7) 2010

Yes 2016 was indeed very strong overall. Not that shocked it won. At least 10-12 songs were top notch and most of them ended on the left side of the board. Ukraine won but Australia and Bulgaria would have been worthy winners too. Icebreaker is my guilty pleasure though. 2015 is a vague year for me..Regarding 2019, i only listen to Soldi, KEiiNO and Hatari. Everything was meh about it.
YES
Yes Svt hosted great show and there was great music
Eurovision 2016 had some beautiful songs but on a stage level I preferred 2014 and 2015. In my opinion, the 2016 show was too hasty and the message was not clear.
for me 2015 vienna had the best songs! almost every song was good!
I want to say 2016 but going to go for Malmo 2013 for 2 words Lynda Woodruff.
Love love peace peace. Need I say more?
2016, 2018, 2008 top 3.
I didn't like Düsseldorf from the point of view before the tv screen either. the fact, that it was in a stadion made it so bad for the intimate song types.
I definitely miss Denmark on this list! 👌
