    The problem with a lot of sports now is that we expect people to top quality by their young 20s when most people don't hit their physical prime until late 20s/early 30s along with being smarter. This kid still has plenty time

    I played against him when he was coming through at youth level with Celtic when I was 10/11 years old and he was ridiculously good. Surprised he’s stagnated but he’s still young so plenty of time on his side. Him and Xavi Simons were the best from that age group

    I am so disappointed that he wasn’t used more at Celtic, we’ve had decent wingers in the time he was there but I’m sure he could’ve been given more game time than he was. He was showing good signs in preseason (2021), showing he might be worth a bigger role, but got a bad injury. The tackle was fucking awful as well if I remember correctly. Really wish he got more of a chance. Also, fuck Bristol City.
    He’s still a very capable player and he’s only young yet (19). I truly hope he makes it to the very top. (Possibly another stint in the hoops before he’s too good for the Scottish league 😂)

    His ego was massive. Went to the school that has the academy and people who played with him said after he started getting recognition online his attitude and ego took over and he thought he was too good. Never seen him play well in a Celtic first team shirt either.

      Honestly heard this and it's been debunked he's humble and doesn't talk much people assume and make assumptions and his only problem at Celtic was injuries not attitude he doesn't post anything like his training and etc. He's not on social media like that he was more focused on getting back from injury he never had an ego

    On Dembeles debut he was up against Aaron Hickey who was the same age but had played that whole season for Hearts and was immense. He went to Italy and developed in Serie A before moving to Brentford

    Good season at Blackpool last season realised a bit of his potential I think he’ll keep improving and make it to the top when he reaches his prime in 5-10 years time

    Heres the deal for these wonderkids since 2010.
    1. Either they are way in over their heads. or given that confidence.
    2. They get so much so fast its not handled well by themselves.
    We have seen so so many boys getting there. and yet alwasy falling short in any case you wanna take into account. Whether its Bojan, Bendtner, Halilovic, Ibe, Rodwell.
    I do accept the examples given are very very odd except Bojan but these were those breakouts. I am not certain at all that Dembele would get far either. But if he has that mindset to persevere, he might. However a longshot!!!

    early 20s is when people break out, or even mid 20s. even then for defenders/gks, lates 20s can be their time. Jamie Vardy was at Fleetwood Town til he was 26 or so. Messi/Ronaldo were freaks, skill and physically.
    Its probably good they're not playing him much. He has a small frame and the last thing you want is some 6'3" / 85kg central defender putting an elbow in his ear or someone giving him a bad tackle, and then you get Ousmane Dembélé’s situation at Barca.

    I'm from Brest. I remember reading up about him after hearing that he arrived in town. I thought he was going to be a good deal, bringing speed and dribbling. But right now, he's only been used as a spark plug off the bench... Except he rarely does anything. Whether it's from him not being in the right position or not being given enough opportunities by his teammates, something is wrong

    Talk of attitude etc are way off the mark. He’d have got game time last season at Celtic if he hadn’t picked up a bad injury in a preseason game. Just bad luck but he still has time to prove himself in France

    He needs a growth spout, like 4 or 5 inches. He will make it regardless but his career may resemble insigne. He needs to find a club that loves him for what he is and not his potential.

    I think the kid made a good move. He had a big spotlight on him, which isn't always beneficial. It creates hype and expectations that in turn create huge pressure on a young kid. Taking 'a step back' to a different league turned that spotlight off, allowing him to develop himself and giving himself time.

    I remember the hype around 17-18 year ood Ronaldo nazario back in the early 90s, all the big club is chasing after him but luckily he took an advice from Romario to join the dutch league first just to settle into europe football and culture. Nowadays too many youngsters sign for big clubs end up being a total flop, and these youngsters is not even proven yet relied heavily on their youth stats.

      We may have slightly different definitions of what
      "breaking into the first team" means. He was in amongst the first team squad and made several appearances, hence he broke into the team. Sure he didn't become a first team regular during his time, but he also suffered several injury setbacks throughout.

      He did. He left them for more money and because Celtic wouldnt guarentee him game time (game time shouldnt ever be guarenteed, it should be earned).

    He's still very young but I think the managers are not confident because his body is too small and weak.
    I'm a fan of karamoko but if I was his manager in an amateur division no matter how good he was I wouldn't be to rely on him because of that.
    He must get bigger he looks like he's 12.

    he holds onto the ball for too long just like Simons was doing, you can do that at lower level, but not the top one. Once he learns to distribute faster to teammates before defense closes him down he should be fine.

    Was at his debut and he was amazing. He got too big for his boots at celtic fell out with the manger at the time. New manager didn't want him. hope he screws his head back on and finds the right attitude
