Probably my favourite Wet Leg song. The vibe is oh so familiar. As all of their other songs. It’s like I travelled back in time and brought back this gem with me. There is a new Renaissance in music because of Wet Leg. At least for me.

This album, finally, may just be the album by the band that may FINALLY bring back rock n roll back to the masses, there was once a scene called Grunge reported to have started in Seattle, in reality, a bunch of great new bands migrated there because it was said any good band there were being signed, like 77-78 NYC Punk scene, D.C. hardcore scene. Now with the internet the world is connected, no more ,sadly, lil scenes from this region, that city, State,Country . Now there is a Rock n Roll rebellion sweeping the GLOBE!!! It's the most exciting time in the history of indie rock, garage, punk, new wave, new genres like CCR (Current Classic Rock, bands like Dr.Dog,Delta Spirit & of course a 100 more) .History repeats, Rock music has been smushed down, suppressed for so long we began seeing it creeping onto shows like American Idol , onto the soundtracks of superhero films and series, drama and romcoms, car commercials. You cannot silence Rock n Roll, its always been, it IS. Straight, queer, trans, HEDWIG ,ROCK has even ,always had its spot in Broadway. I thought, prayed Jay Reatard was an inch away from being the next Nirvana, the next to unlock,swing open those long locked up floodgates , then ,sadly he died the way he'd always lived, doing cocaine, manic but productive since a couple yrs b4 14 when he hand delivered his self home studio recording of his songs, all original punk rock all songs, music lyrics and instruments written and played, sung by him. The elder record store owner, punk band leader, recording studio engineer/ label owner recognized this newly teen aged boy's talent, drive,ambition, work ethic and began working with him, 2 band albums, 3 solo albums and 7 other bands later, all that plus the number of bands and artists Jay himself worked with and recorded Jay passed away from , well to me it really doesn't matter the "from" but that we lost a force of nature. A musical,creative genius who evolved,challenged himself,dug deep ,gave all of himself to us. The world is seeming now to speak on this issue at least with one unified voice ,as Joan Jett sang out ,so is the world ,and they are saying "I want Rock n Roll...!"
Myself and others like me have never stopped listening to great,new,signed, soon to be signed and unsigned local rock artists of all sub genres,listening to scenes, microcosms from different worldwide locations ,Memphis,Jay Reatard & his 8 bands including the members of those bands and their projects, the Southwest Nobunny,Shannon & the Clams,Hunx & his Punx, Canada&Germany has some sort of crossover scene with King Khan & the Shrines , K.K. & the BBQ SHOW aka Mark Sultan, Bloodshot Bill, then The Black Lips and the fact each band member each has 1-? Other bands ,then jump across the pond to the entire European, British, German, Swedish,Icelandic scenes, Die Antwoord from South Afrika and all of their side projects, Ethel Caine's entire scene. Then Guardin's indie,emo,underground hip hop scene which includes so many emcees, dj's and Guardin just returned home from a very successful tour every single one of these scenes mentioned is only the part of the iceberg thats visible underneath the surface 9f course are many more artists yet to appear outside their local hometown, all the recording studios, engineers, designers, flyer artists ,album artwork painters, cartoonists, videographers. As i said to each new artist emerging they're the tip of the iceberg . It is beautiful. There's power un numbers, country & r&b have held onto the reins for far,far,far too long. Welcome the new regime...REJOICE!
