What's one small change you've made (or want to make) to save money and work toward financial freedom?

I stopped reading the commercial brochures that were delivered to my mailbox. They just created new "needs".

I must admit, i did similar at the beginning, and unsubscribed to emails to stop temptation...clothing stores mainly.

Getting a divorce and a separate credit card so I can see exactly how much I actually spend and on what. You have to keep track of what you spend and on what, and……tell yourself no!

Lovely video- i raised a daughter as a single parent and have had periods of extreme difficulty- most recently, nearing a retirement age, my corporate position was eliminated. The last year has once again been full of financial challenges, and i have been on a careful, frugal journey. I look forward to hearing your stories and wish you all of the very best.❤

Thank you so much for sharing a bit of your journey with us. Raising a daughter as a single parent and facing financial hardships is so difficult, but it teaches us lifetime lessons that we can pull from when we need them most. It must have been tough to lose your corporate position just as you were approaching retirement. Being frugal is a valuable asset, and I truly admire your perseverance. I hope that things start looking up for you, and please know that you're not alone. Wishing you strength, peace, and brighter days ahead. You've got this 🥰

Thank you for sharing and how strong you must be! People struggle, you did with both a child and ill health and got through it. I think people need to hear stories like this to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The toughest times does create changes, it forces you to look outside that box and see what else is there. I think now, for me, there needs to be three different bank accounts. One pays the bills; one is emergency and one I call the 'old lady account'. That is the one I try really hard not to touch at all until I am basically, an old lady.

I think thats a great plan. For us, we have our normal joint account, then our regular savings account. We started out with just a small emergency fund that gave us finally a bit of breathing space, but we're building on that. Maybe one day we'll look into investing in a Stocks & Shares ISA, but happy with what we're doing for now. Good luck on your journey 🥰

I can relate to what you have said i was in a similar situation with 3 young children on my own after my husband died, i didn't eat for days so my kids could eat couldn't see and end to it didn't want to live at times and to proud to ask for help, my life has turned around now many years later ,even though I'm financially stable now im still very frugal as you never know what is round the corner xxx

🫂 Its tough isn't it. Im so glad you found the strength to keep going...i sometimes wonder what i'd have done if i didn't have my daughter. I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband...i can't even imagine. You're right though, we never forget and are always on high alert.

Very nice video…thank you for sharing. It’s shocking to hear that bailiffs can come in and take everything you own. Here in the in the U.S. that was outlawed decades ago but they can take a portion of your income monthly to settle a debt. I get paid once a month so I pay all of my bills at one time or separate out cash for a future payment. I also do once a month grocery shopping and then stay out of the market the rest of the time. Since I bu8lt a small stockpile of extra foods I have shopping once a month great for my finances. It was hard at first but now I love it.

I'm glad you have a set routine that works for you. It really helps doesn't it...It's very difficult at first to make that happen and adjust, but isn't it a relief to know you have everything covered.
The worst part about the bailiffs is that they give you a very short time to pay up to get everything back. If you don't, they sell everything for pennies almost to pay off some of the debt, but you still have to pay off the balance.
Thank you so much for sharing today 🥰

P.S. I don’t have children but I have a pet and I buy her foods first before I buy my own. So if we are short money, she eats before I do.

Thats wonderful. One of the best and most valuable lessons you can take from your childhood. If you can share any of your favourite frugal tips here with the community, that would be so appreciated 🥰
