I have huge goals to be a very successful photographer, RUclipsr, creative and teacher. I am in it for the long haul. For 10 years I have been learning, exploring and working as a photographer.
This is literally all the needed. WHAT to shoot and HOW to get the angles. No one else got to the point the way this video did. thanks for this.
my pleasure!
So many blurry shots 😬
Hahahahhahahaha. Good try
@@DetourswithJeff He's right though. With how fast you're moving combined the low shutter speed, most of these outside shots are unusable.
Not true.
@@DustinNuttall I can only imagine what your photos look like.
Nice and fast video, but i think you got to much photos out of focus.
Great video thank you for sharing. This is definitely something both myself & my son are wanting to get into in the UK. What is the best way to approach a used car dealership?
Do you offer to do say half a dozen car shots for free so they can see the quality of your work and then at a later date agree a fee for each shoot you do for them? If I was to go freelance what should you be charging.
Do you charge per shot, per car? Any advice would be really appreciated.
Looking forward to more car photography videos. Thanks again.
Your tips helped me a bit, so thank you.
Glad to hear it!
im so glad im here. i shoot for an audi guy and he rents his european cars. tapping in to club house is changing everything,,,,,, dopeeeeee
Clubhouse rocks. Yes I’ll be doing some more automotive and there is a car channel I create for!!! Bayougarage
Bro super helpful thank you
You are welcome
definitely want to see more of this. i enjoyed your talk on learning from failures on club house
Me too. Hoping to share more automotive soon too. Thanks! I got my start in automotive photography.
What len are you using? Nice video
I still would like to know what focal lengths you use on a shoot?
For almost everything I was a sigma 2.8 17-55mm
@@DetourswithJeff Thanks for the info and your time! That really helps a lot.
Sorry I didn’t get to it faster!
Great vid how much would you charge per image as a beginner?
Charge per vehicle. Can’t say how much, it would depend on area and competition around
nice video!! I'm looking to get into this market myself, anyway you would be able to tell me what kind of job title this would be or what type media of companies I should be looking for?
Photographer, media, content creator. All of those titles. There are positions at the dealership and also companies that just do pictures that you can work for that sign contracts woth dealerships
Hi Jeff, any idea on a typical "per unit" fee to charge dealerships? That seems to be their preferred method of payment.
It depends on everything you are doing for them. If it’s only pictures and uploading them to their computer system I would say around $25 per car. But I would say there needs to be 4 cars ready to shoot. Or 30 with a day count to 25 at 4 and discount to 20 at 10 or something like that. I can shoot 20 plus in a day
@@DetourswithJeff Thanks for the insight! What is your typical file size for your images? Uploading remotely from a slow internet connection can be a problem with large files. Any thoughts on best practices for image size/quality? Thanks!
I down size everything to 1920x1080 is fine for websites amd social.
@@DetourswithJeff what about if you have to edit the pictures?
Impressive trip and photography!
Thank you!!!!
Great Video
Thanks!
Weird angles tbh but thats something dealership wants so be it
How much do you charge per car?
Just depends, alot has changed since then and it depends on what you are offrering to do and the time it takes to get it done
Like most photogs, we are in bad shape with regards to work. This might be a resource for additional revenue, I might just look into this. I reside in Houston, so there should be no shortage of dealerships looking for quality work. I am guessing that this ”freelance’’ as opposed to a staff position...?
You can do both. While staff will be less money but guaranteed money while freelance will be more hit and Miss.
Been doing videography for many years. How can I get into this market?
This was meant for photographers but there is a huge market for content creators. If you can make a 30 sec to 1 minute commercial on a car and learn how to publish and get traction on social media then you have an in with many dealerships. They pay tons to be on tv yet the tv market is not where the buyers are. Also the ROI is horrible on those commercials rather than a 100 dollar budget on Fb. There are many needs for video in dealerships. Get a few cars and make some killer examples then show it to a dealership
Whats a good rate to charge dealerships?
Hey Jeffery, I was just looking at some Truck pictures and this one dealership, they really need a better photographer Man some of the pictures were awful, I don't even know why the posted them they were blurry and way too dark, SMH... Have a great one!
That happens all the time. Their game is weak.
How much to charge per car for photo and video?
Depends on the market and area and what you offer.
great info thx!
I bet he shoots in Jpeg
At the dealership! You damn right I do
Focal length?
thanks
Thank you
If shade is available, why would you shoot in direct sunlight?
Dealership choice. You don’t get to pick a choose sometimes. If I was doing my shoot, feature for a magazine, or things of that nature everything would change. They want a certain back ground and look.
Wouldn't you want to take pictures of the trunk inside as well? I'm thinking of trying out this career.
Absolutely, some places will require, my place does not but the basics are still the same.
@@DetourswithJeff ah okay. thank you.
I just saw this in my automotive photography feed. Great job on the keywords and title!
What happened to the mic/lapel? It started out hot.
When is the higher end video coming? I know a young guy that might be interested in joining. You could come up to Marksville and we could all get together and make that video? Nov 25.
So, do you have a personal video on the other channel, yo sure got a motor in yo mouth!!! LOL!!!
Not sure what mic video?
Did you ever do the video about using a phone to take pictures like this?
Detours happened. So I’m not sure if I can anymore but I might try something in the future
Why not just shoot in the shade to begin with?
Because we had none.
These are pro camera tips.
Basics settings. Good starting points
Do you need me to break anything down for you
How much do you charge per car?
Depends on where you are, your experience, how many your shooting, and how much other work your putting in but it could be anything from $20 to $50 per vehicle
