  • * Preview* of a Series to come by the TITLE name. You may notice some repeat scenes as my editing program appears to have a mind of it's own (workin' on it). This is an extended mix of the previous mix.
This series will feature nearly all major 747 operators. It is a tribute those who had the foresight to shoot video back before it was popular so that we (today) can look back and see 'what once existed'..and see it in motion! People like Willie Kaemena, David Maxwell, Craig Pilkington and Nao Nakagawa and a few more.
The 747 that are seen here (many in original 747-100 form) will be from these carriers:
Aer Lingus * Aerolineas Argentinas * Aerosur * Air Canada * CAAC * Air China * Air France * Air Gabon * Air India * Alitalia * All Nippon * American Airlines * Ansett * Avianca * BOAC * British Airways * Braniff Intl * CP Air * Canadian Airlines * Cathay Pacific * China Airlines * Delta * Egyptair * El Al * Emirates * Flying Tigers * JAL * Korean Air * KLM * Lufthansa *Northwest *NWA * Pan Am * SAA * TWA * UTA * United Airlines -
    Enjoy it everybody!
After the 747 Series is complete, there will be a 707 Series followed by DC-8s and the supercool jumbo Trijets!
Oh, and see if you can spot the pilot having a smoke in the cockpit...!

This is one of my favorite videos to watch on RUclips. The 747 is still the Queen of the skies. Her reign is over 40 years long & with the 747-8i she still rules. Thanks for your long hours of work putting this together. It's much appreciated.

Lol I've always thought of the Airbus 380 as a wale too & ugly airplane plus 747 been around longer as we all know. Short lived the 380 as Airlines have slowly retired them I think & some been scrapped. Yep the Boeing 747 is & always be a beautiful airplane which ruled the world. 🙂👍

  • @Starboard76
    @Starboard76  12 лет назад +3

    Technologically yes, it's newer.
But looks wise..not a chance. For photographers, it's a difficult aircraft to shoot - I have 4 A380 vids here and from no angle does it look 'graceful and/or majestic'.
BIG? Yes, inside and out. But next to a 747, if it were a beach, one would be the hot slim chick in a bikini, the other...her fat friend.

@landman1973 ok, that one is way out of my league of expertise, landman1973. The heaviest 747 roll I've ever seen .. probably ate up 8000 ft at 'sea level' LAX on 25L. As for takeoff consumption..I'd pose that question on airliners net in their tech forum...I certain on eof those guys will have a dead on answer within 20 minutes of you posting it. Knowing me, I'd look at the cost of that much fuel and then turn..get a headache!

I am nostalgic for many of them, from the Clipper Ship boat planes of the 30's, the Boeing 314, the Boeing Stratocruiser to the DC series, Boeing 707 & the widebodies of the 70's - the L1011 & DC 10. I even admire the Airbus 380. However, the classiest dame of all has & I think will always be Boeing's 747. Great video! My only suggestion would be adding interior shots or maybe that could be "part 2". Thanks for uploading & keeping the "Jumbo Jet" spirit alive.

@vanhalo Thank you! It's good to hear from someone who can appreciate just how much time & effort goes into creating something like this. Thanks again.
Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how to do this.. the final right now is over 4 hours long, I've gotta trim it down to 4 - 15 min clips...and it is truly agonizing at cutting up some of my favorite scenes. This is why it's taking awhile, plus some footage needs to 'worked' on individually to be made presentable.

@EAMR262 ..yeah and look how long it took me to find this..! That is unimaginable that they flew them for nearly 20 years and no one bothered to record one of the the most colorful 747s ever. I started to record in 1997..so I missed them by 3 years, they would have been on the top of my list. I've plenty photos - which bothers me even more because looking back .. it was a waste of time..everyone has photos! There is one source for sure with some great footage - Colombian TV news!

@landman1973, yes Flying Tigers was an American carrier. It was absorbed into Federal Express. It was started by the late Gen. Claire Chennalt, he was the leader of a renegade band of US war pilots to gave the Japanese hell fighting 'guerilla style' in Southern China, Burma and other parts of Southeast Asia. They took on jobs the US military was not in a position to take on. They contributed greatly to the Allied war effort in WWII.
As for 747 takeoff speed, you're right in the ball park.

@Starboard76 Thnaks for the info, its much appreciated! another question for you...I know 400 series carries approx. 63,000 gallons of fuel, with that in mind, and taking into consideration that its heavy would use approx. 10,000 feet of runway (I think?) and that take off speed is approx 170 knots, give or take 10 either way, but I don't know how fuel it burns on take off. Any idea? I am taking a wild guess here and think its 5,000 - 10,000 gallons? -- Cheers!

I guess was recalling the days when you visited LAX and JFK .. there were easily 20-40 747 passenger ships on the ground.
A photo I took at Kennedy had 3 Alitalia 747 tails clustered together, 2 for Rome, one for Milan. SAS would have 2 or 3, KLM two, Swissair with 2 or 3 and on an on.LAX had them waiting for gates after long pacific flights...JAL would have 4 on the ground, Korean had 5 on some days, you could fly a 747 LA-SFO or Chicago easily....those days are long gone.

Starboard76 hi starboard, as a huge fan of yours, I have some spectacular american747, big glossy interior pictures of round table dining, first class and coach lounges w/ piano bars. at my age and a " ground family" , would you like to see the aforementioned, plus stewardess hats, wings, and film footage my dad took back in1962, of me gleefully running along the tarmac at Chicago midway while ORD was still under construction? I grew up in the beautiful/ golden decades of commercial airline industry, and don't have the heart to throw away my airline treasures. would you like to go thru my storage, and decide if you can give the aforementioned a good home??! 702- 600- 3522

I sure hope you are still hanging with my channel it's it only gotten more focused and more interesting (to me anyway). I remember going to the viewing areas and watching planes at many airports as a kid with the parents. In 1978 I saw a ward air 747 land in Ottawa in winter. It was the first time seeing one for me & unforgettable.

Way back when I was a flight attendant for the French airline, in the late 70's until the mid 90's. 747s were my favorite to work in. I spent so many hours in these birds working my ass off on long haul. But I loved them and I really had a crush on the stewardesses with their tight light blue miniskirts, their little cap and their white gloves...Yummm! I had a 15 year party!

Such a short period of time between the debut of the 707 and being surpassed by the 747. And more than 30 years before the 747 was surpassed by the A380!
