- 1979 & 1981 NCAA champion Gene Mills takes on Anatoli Beloglazov of the Soviet Union at the 1981 World Cup.
Beloglazov was the 1980 Olympic champion in Moscow. Gene Mills was the 1980 Olympian for the United States but was denied his chance to compete due to the United States boycott of the 1980 Summer Games.
Way to go Carter!
I train at Pin2Win Combat Club in Phoenix NY!! Gene Mills owns it and hes amazing. Its an honor to meet him.
This was great to see!! I knew Gene was much more familiar with folkstyle wrestling, which I also prefer, but I watch all types of wrestling and I knew it would be tough for Gene to switch over back then to a style others, especially in Russia, do all their lives. Gene is interesting because he never really looked that powerful but he obviously had strength and technique for days. A lot of us guys from then 1980's high school days copied Gene's style, especially the series of turning people from on top. Beloglazov brothers are both legendary and hard as nails, but if this was a folkstyle match Gene would have won more convincingly.
mean gene mills is my wrestling coach, and what hes taught me even with all his injuries, i always listen lets make it to sections again phoenix!!
those arm drags were money! well done, gene.
Had the honor of having Gene as an instructor at Russ Houck's wrestling camp over 30 years ago. Words can't describe this man's talent.
Mr Gene mills came to our floridajetswrestling camp today What a wonderful wrestler, He is very very funny if you ever meet him in real life very nice guy.
That was great
Gene is my coach, he still sounds funny
came to examine the front headlock escape great work from both fighters
Gene Mills is such a cool guy, i met him at a camp last summer and he saw the school shirt i was wearing and asked me about my coach, it was sooo cool, he called my coach on my cell phone
Me too, i wrestle for the pin2win club with gene mills, we just went down to NJ in the summer.
I heard that they invented the tech rule cause of Mills. thats pretty bad ass
Anatoli must've run out of gas for him to let Mills reverse and turn him like that. Those were the days when they had 3-3-3 with a one-minute break in-between. Gene Mills was really one of the good guys of wrestling. He was always respectful of his opponents, even when he destroyed them.
Who else watched his half Nelson video tape a thousand times?
great match
Gino was one of the great ones and for a period of about 1 year Geno was simply invicible.
Lester Ware
Da Aurica,eu ziceam ca in 79,a iesit primul la Tbilisi 50 kg.
sweet!
Since you are from the US, I understand that you mostly post matches involving Americans and them winning. I was just kind of offended that the Soviets lose in every match I saw on youtube, before I searched through all your videos.
Well, my point is that Anatoli should have won the fight!
I found that you do have some videos of Soviets winning against Americans.
No 1 point for the extended exposure at the end?
👍👍👍
Схватка супер,но белоглазова засудили
Belogazov was not the clear winner. Maybe his points were more dominant-looking than Mills' but every point he got was legit. Because of his early dominance of the match Belogazov seemed to burn himself out hence giving up three points in the last 20 seconds. As for the early two point move he was awarded, Mills had control, though brief, and tilted the Russian beyond the 90 degrees. In the background you can even see Gable put up two fingers.
who won the space race?
I am not making ignorant statements, when I said all Soviet athletes are better than American athletes, I was talking about in Freestly and Greco-Roman Wrestling.
who won the cold war?
and what did you find after you searched?
Fuk u
I'm talking about Soviet times when all sectors of sports had more than enough financing, and attention from the government. Now Russia neglects Olympic sports, even still Alexander Karelin one example I can name many more.
and your point is?
Now compare the country to what it was during Yeltsin-Kasparov's time to what it is now under Putin and you would see the difference.
9:5 Beloglazov
haha so do I what classes do you take there?
4 балла не за что дали американцу
I have posted many Soviets, as well as other International wrestlers, winning matches. Please check before you comment. Thanks.
Just like he’s ok no problem
Слишком много сил отдал атаке.
Физически что-то Белоглазов
Был не в порядке
I see that you do have 3 videos of Soviets winning against the US, but I could not find them throught search. Searching "freestyle wrestling" brings up too much so I did not look through all the results. "Wrestling soviet" turns up too little results. More tags would have helped like ussr, soviet, us, olympics, world championships.
go coach mills!
same
I try to post some of my favorite Freestyle wrestling matches. Some have Soviets, some don't.
If you are simply looking for Soviets (or wrestlers from the former CCCP) then you might want to try www.chechenfighters.com.
За что???
Why are there only wrestling vides of US winning? The Soviets won much more.
It doesnt matter what it shows on these videos, because all know the Soviets are better Athletes than the Americans. A guy that is ranked 50th place for weightlifting or wrestling in Russia is ranked 1st place in America. Same goes for all other sports.
The majority of Olympic Gold medal winners for Soviet Union were Armenian.
This is not fair. Not only Beloglazov dominated the entire fight, he should have ended 9-5 ahead. Mills didn't turn him at the end for the two points he received and at 1:58, Mills received undeserved points. Beloglazov should have won the fight easily. The referee was biased towards the American.
Beloglazov is viner. you can see it. if you are real wrestler.
.... Милз как истеричная девка!.. 👎👎
done points in critical moments..deserve to win
cant russians always win XD
