I watched a lot of perch videos but I like this when the best, simply because it's REMOVABLE without damaging anything, easy to build, inexpensive and really doesn't require extra space.
We call the window "channel 1".😻

Nicely done! I need something like this for 2 heavy plant pots I need by my window, but my window doesn't have a lip or groove to put the angle braces in. It's window with 2 crank out windows on either end. I would need to find a fix to put a shelf in the middle section between the 2 crank out windows for those heavy plants.

I have 4 kitties who have a Catio. It used to be my Florida room. This would be a good addition for their Catio.
    Thanks!

For sure. You can never have too many catios and window platforms, especially with 4 kitties!

Love how you did this! I just bought a cat window perch off Amazon. Similar concept, except not as big and sturdy. It was supposed to hook on to the window seal like your L brackets did and if the window seal track is deep enough, it would make it possible to close and lock the window with the perch still attached. My thermal windows do not have a deep enough track for this to work for me. I have rigged it to where I can close the window almost all the way and stuff a towel between to close the gap, but I feel like I could do something else to make it work better. My windows have to stay closed because of weather conditions. Thanks for giving me some ideas.

I will attempt to build one following your guidance. This is what I need for my cat and what I like the most is that it is removable without attaching it permanently to the window sill. Thank you.

Love this idea! Are you able to close the window?

That specific window is closed. It's a sliding door window. With the ledge you can open it from the side the ledge is. Not the other side because the ledge will stop it (hope I made it easier to understand)

You should have done a link for a cat. But have it send them to various places where they adopt out cats.
    Nice window shelf.

I’m about to go check our windows for mounting options like you show.
    Thanks ✌🏻

I would have made it slightly larger. It gets a little cramped when they're both on it at once.

This is awesome and thank you for sharing! Is that L corner bracket flush against the window or is it just "clipped" on to the track?

This is cool! A cautionary tail (har har) - I had a cat way back who loved looking out the screen like this and one day pressed against it and pushed it out. Later, wondering where out cat was we found it outside the apt. complex in the shrubs. It fell down a couple of stories onto an AC unit (ouch). But thankfully was okay. I know, I'm an idiot. I didn't realize the screen would push out that easily.

What about closing the window? Why not just drill it into the sill with king screws? Genuine question

    • @ScapeSketch

Depends on your window. With mine, the platform fits on the right side with the window open and fits in the left side with the window closed.
