- Hey Friends! I felt like it was a good idea to share the consultation of this incredibly high risk, difficult colour correction I did today. I am currently editing the full breakdown of the video so I just have this to offer as a bit of a teaser and some backstory to how this appointment went.
the full video will be uploaded very soon, i promise!
this is a pretty typical consult for a CC with me and im sure there will be a handful of people who find this kind of content interesting, and hopefully a few within that group will find it helpful to lead their own consultations in the future.
Hairstylist here! You did such a great job explaining everything, love how you gave her different options and explain in depth of each option and the potential risk! I can’t wait to see this transformation!!! ❤
Thank you so much! I'm really excited to share the final results! 💕
That’s what I said (fellow hairdresser here)😂
11:45 I'm so glad you paused at this point in regards to the shadow root and coming back later to highlight. "Down the road"... you were thinking ahead. You are AWESOME!
I've been waiting for this one ever since the community post. That is a massive undertaking, kudos to you for tackling it!
Thanks, I knew you guys would be excited about this one! 💕 currently editing the voiceover for the full big video!! It's a long one 😮💨
As a former hairdresser, I love how you talk about expectations etc. and explain everything especially the risks. Good communication is everything. Especially when the hair is such a mess as this was. I know so many wouldn’t want to tackle this as it is alot of work, and high risk of damage. Especially when it’s someone else’s mess👀 And I love how you’re so understanding and doesn’t force anything which many hairdresser has a tendency to do especially cut trigger happy and cut away everything that’s damaged. I’ve had so many clients who were super scared of getting a cut as previous hairdressers had cut it way too short due to damage. I used to show and tell them what’s damaged and how much one should cut away, but of course if they don’t want that I won’t force it, and just cut half of what should be cut off… I used to be blonde for years like it was my signature look besides red and turquoise. Either a ton of highlights or lighten with a 7-8 and then do highlights…
Exactly!!! It's still their hair and they have to wear it. If they don't want to cut it, that's up to them!
You are so professional! How fascinating to see someone REALLY skilled at their work. Thank you for uploading
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm sure the follow up video will be very interesting 😘 I'm excited to upload it!!
I cant wait to see your fix for this. i live for your color corrections!
Thank you!! I can't wait to upload it!! Working on the voiceover right now
I’m always so impressed with your skill and compassion for your clients! You’re such a joy to observe!
Thank you so much! 💕 That means the world to me
I agree! Her clients are so lucky to have her!❤
Fellow hairdresser here. You did a wonderful job exploring all the options and listening to her expectations. I can't wait see the next video!
You’re amazing - I would have slapped black dye over that, cried and come back in 3 years.
The video of this color correction will be epic! Can’t wait!
OMG who did that poor girl's hair. I know things don't always turn out the way we want, but this is one jacked-up head of hair!!!
Bobbie has her work cut out for her, as usual! Can't wait to see the whole process!
The fact the former hair stylist decided to bleach their roots was an insane choice
@@angelicsailor1st I feel like this was an 'at home' experiment that she doesn't want to admit to... coming from someone who has botched their own hair at home and had to own up to it to my stylist 😅
Cannot wait for this! I'd love to see the inspiration pictures when you do these transformations. Great job on the consultation! 👏🏼
Feels so good to listen to this consultation, you are so intelligent Katy!! I can't wait the loong video about the procedure! 🙏🏻 your talent is amazing
Coming soon! Thank you so much! Years of colour corrections and this is the scariest one of them all!!
Great consultation 👍 I would feel very safe sitting in your chair. Your very professional and knowledgeable about hair.
As a fellow stylist I feel like I could see the wheels working and I LOVE it! I can't wait to see the results i know you did AMAZING!!
I had to be strategic! This was definitely a challenge. 😂
@BobbyHairStudio it came out stunning 😍
She is STUH-NING!!! That previous stylist did her so dirty. Hopping right over to the next video! 🏃🏼♀️
She came in with the color of a tortoiseshell cat 😮
She was so relieved that she didn’t have to go dark 😂
She really was!!
That's such a shame, dark hair is so beautiful. So I think it's so beautiful. Ultimately, it's just a matter of taste 😊
@@Cerbera66I agree. She should do obviously do what makes her happy and the stylist is amazing, but I think she would look beautiful with dark hair. The “blonde” she came in with was so close to her own skin tone that it just washes her out. It also would have been so much easier and less expensive to fix this disaster if she were willing to go dark.
The way you explained everything was amazing. You have her all her options with pros and cons. It’s too bad she didn’t choose a nice dark chocolate
She would have definitely looked beautiful! I’m sure she’ll look great with the blond correction too
I agree...I think it would've been a better match to her skin tone too
What a pleasant and calm human post having her hair destroyed!! Especially compared to that last purple horror story 😅 Props to you both
She is literally the sweetest too! We had great conversations in the chair and she tipped generously! I don't know why the other stylist treated her badly enough to have her get away cause she's my client now for life!!
This is the hardest possible client to walk in. I can’t wait to see the results (I’m watching the consultation)
I know! This was one of the toughest I've worked on!
This is the first video I've seen of yours and I immediately subscribed. You're basically my internal monologue lol. You said everything that goes through most hair stylists minds when looking at hair. I can't wait to see you do this.
What a mess that the previous hairdresser left behind. That’s a massive job to recorrect this
Omg ! I’m so excited to see ! It certainly makes me nervous talking to someone about fixing this type of hair , I always always end up undercharging cuz it makes me nervous !!!😅 and it turns out beautiful in the end and I am way overworked and underpaid
It is SO HARD to know what to charge for these crazy jobs! I always overthink it, but I'm learning to value my time and skill more.
@@BobbyHairStudiooh course ! You’re the best at color corrections ! ❤❤❤❤ I just gotta get back into being more confident and consistent when I’m talking about the prices :)
Oh no you need to ask more because you work hard to get the best results you can get ❤
You are so well spoken
Thank you! I gotta figure out how to permanently cut the words "umm" and "uhhh, aaaand" out of my vocab tho ahaha
Wow 😮 youre amazing ❤ i dont get how a hairdresser sends anyone out the door like that and ask money 😢
Me neither! It actually upsets me. So many stylist pour themselves into this craft to bring art and chemistry to new levels.. and then others are lazy and charge too much and disrespectful
Caramel tone really suits her. I wish she kept it.
I saw this and couldn't wait to see the full correction video.
I love how informative you are with your clients. I've learned so much re: consultation from you. Among all the other things I've learned and ive been a stylist for 10 years❤❤❤
It was definitely a challenge to tackle! I'm glad you've found it helpful! 😊
I can’t wait for the full video !
I'm Speechless...
This is a Color Correction Endboss . It's going to be great - but I'm already nervous just thinking about the upcoming procedure
Okay that would be an amazing title tho? Colour correction Endboss hahahah love that
Oh I fully thought this was going to be the video of doing the service and then found myself at the end of the video
Same here. Cliffhanger ending!
so excited to see what the final result will be! 🤗 she's in the best hands
this colorist has the patience of a saint!! She mentioned looking ay each strand--that's insane
Good on you for working on her wow. Who ever did her hair prior did her dirty.
I can't believe another stylist did this to her hair! She has strong hair because my hair would have already melted off down to a buzzcut!! I would have to wear wigs and extensions until it grew out.
Yeah! THE correction!
Coming SO SOON! Just editing right now!
very professional & upfront about the process!
It's so important to be honest and transparent with clients from the start.
I love how you stepped thru the hair choices and the pros and cons of each choice. I cannot wait to see how this comes out. I'm also curious as to the final price point.
It’s definitely a high-risk, high-reward transformation! I'm excited to share the final result in the next video, and I’ll definitely include the price.
Yep that is most certainly a mess. I had different options going through my head as well and I would do the same option. Looking forward to seeing your master piece on this one. 💕
Normal human here! You did amazing!
OMG THANK YOU for not forcing her to have a haircut. I always have to fight with my stylists over this. My hair is healthy, not fried, not dry, it's something I take very good care of and proud of. So when I say "just a trim" I mean JUST A TRIM. Don't take 10 cm off. Don't give me layers. Don't suggest a short cut just because I'm 45. Don't tell me that "men LOVE a pixie!" (Idgaf what men love). Just. Give. Me. A. Trim. That's it. I wish more stylists were like you.
It's all about communication and respecting what the client wants! ✨
Honestly, best POLICY ALWAYS ❤
I have so much respect for your work, and it feels good to know I would have told her the same information. I've had this same exact situation, but with SUPER damaged hair. hair. It was so scary. I did the same thing you are going to do, but It took a couple more sessions. And Redken CAT treatments saved her hair. I recommended 4" come off, though, and that really helped.
Can we see the coloring process? Love ya, happy new year!!!
Coming soon! Check back in the morning! Happy new year to you too!!
She's still so gorgeous even with messed up hair! Caramel & blonde would look so good on her. U did amazing honey & u know u did 😂😂😂 !!!
I'm so excited to see the result!!!
Can’t wait to see the process and results!
I'm not a stylist but binge your channel anyway ha ha - I love the problem-solving involved, how you explain it, and I've always found hair colour / colour correction fascinating for some reason (I'm in my 40s now, so obvs too late for a career change to be a colourist!). Living vicariously thru your videos. :-) I understand your solution options here, but not how this hair fail originally came about (?). She is so pretty if she did a jaw-length bob or modern shag / mullet she'd look incredible. Many clients only ever see themselves with this v long hair look though. Look forward to the follow-up :)
The client is so beautiful she even makes this look OK 🤣 can't wait to see the result! Fantastic consultation.
I was a hairdresser for many years and loved colouring and highlighting hair. Fixing this might have taken 2 trips to my salon and some K18 or OLAPLEX treatments.
My hair is straight like wavy 😅😂...whats goin on with clients ?
Exactly! Her hair was out of the bun for 15 minutes, and still a solid 2B. That is definitely not straight hair!
That's a proper consultation!
Highlights low light and no shadow root would probably be best for the upkeep so you don't have to lift a shadow root with already bleached roots underneath then the next time once it's grown out she can then have a shadow root ❤ can't wait to see what you dk with this
So this woman had her hair done like this by a “professional”?? Holy moly, I figured she just played around at home. That’s crazy, I hope she got her money back.
Omg! Cannot wait to see the next video
What a tease, 😂 lol, I am so looking forward to seeing your whole process unfold. I just found you on utube and love your calm ,methodical ,thorough approach . Not to mention your color knowledge …….Isn’t it sooo fun when you really understand color theory and something that was terrifying at the beginning of a career can be your favorite thing to do! 🫶🏼
Wow...😮😮😮 Omg 😱
Love watching your videos even if I am not a stylist, I love everything about the hair, I do my hair on my own because I can’t afford a hairdresser, thank you for your sharing of your experience with clients and knowledge
It means so much to me that you find it helpful. Thank you for watching!
She looks like she is one of those women that goes to the Salon once a year and goes from dark to blonde, then puts box color every time she gets new roots and has 4 inches of growth until she goes back to the salon a year later or better, yet she gets a color service at the salon and then goes hm and puts a darker color once she starts getting new roots, , who knows what color she puts on the roots and went to the salon to get it a lighter blonde that's why the previous stylist had to put bleach on the scalp and 4 inch from the roots. You can tell on the consultation that she doesn't know what you telling her, is like you talked in another language, she had no clue what you were saying. I can tell you she is the one who messed up with box color or even went to Sally's beauty supplies to get color and did it herself or someone she knew did it for her. I know Hispanic women do that a lot and they lie when they call to make an appointment and you ask do you have color right now? Or is your natural hair color? Have you ever color your hair, they say No, then come in and you see they had highlights but they put a dark color close to their natural hair color, but they swear they didn't put dark color . To be honest once you started sectioning her hair I could tell she was the one who messed with her hair , the dark with highlights on mid section to the bottom ends she got that done at a Salon the rest was her own mess.
you are absolutely right. Now the colorist is gong crazy explaining options. If it were me, I'd refuse to work on her. It isn't worth it
I cant wait to see this!!!!
Well done consult. When you pulled strands of the customer's hair it literally looked like porcupine quills !!
I'm sure it's a fun challenge but I'd have said go dark, her natural colour and then let her grow her healthy hair back. This will be so expensive and keep being hard work for years trying to deal with patches of extra damage.
Same. I would have pleaded with her to go dark and be patient. All follow up appointments will be tricky due to the last session. It’s a tricky one for sure.
@@call_in_sick Yeah people value being blond more than having healthy hair. I keep seeing these people that started with a baliage and they always end up with a lot less hair than they started with. I guess in follow up appointments there is just too much overlap and it breaks off.
Poor girl! I once had a hairdresser dye my hair orange. I didn't want it to be orange. I had to use a brown tea rinse to dull the color down. I did a better job correcting it than he did. The owner of the salon was so embarrassed and gave me my money back. I never went to that salon again.
This is what I thought all stylists should be like but I have only encountered this once in my very long life.
Ain't no way she has naturally straight hair. Wavy hair *is* a type of curly hair.
Exactly
Wow what a challenge!!😮😮
That is some shocking 😳 work!! WTF
Fantastic consultation though. Poor lass!!
It is!!! I spend a lot of time going over the situation that lead up to this in the upcoming video!
@@BobbyHairStudio I can’t wait to see it. I wouldn’t have dared touch it. Though I completely agree and would have offered very similar options as yours. But I don’t think I would have dared touch it. I would have pleaded with her to go dark!! Interested to see this one. Full respect ✊🏻
There really are no words.....😮
Oh wow!! I'd probably just do a really fine highlight through the whole head while doing maybe a 6.5a glaze on those crazy roots to darken and blend them.
That way it can just slowly lighten up a bit over time and when you go to re highlight you can see where the bleached out hair starts.
Y am sow sorry for the girl 😢
I'm not surprised. Where i live the hair dressers dye everyone's hair the same color, they don't know how to do any other shades, and they generally have no idea what they are doing.
I'm more inclined to believe that the client tried to do their own hair at home. Great correction explaination.
It is a scary thing to think about. I never judge clients for trying things at home. But this was done at a salon! In the full video I go through the situation!
I really don't like people calling the client a liar. There are some terrible stylists in the world. This woman also has no reason to lie. If someone did this to your hair, would you be OK with a person calling you a liar and saying you did it to yourself? It would infuriate me. I would rather believe the client.
Wow what a fantastic consultation . - hairstylist 13 years
Thank you! It's so important to set realistic expectations before starting any big change.
She looked like she was Leia and you were obi-wan (her only hope) at the beginning of this.
LMAO THIS IS TOO CUTE 😂😂😂
That happened to me, I went to someone who had never done a foil before which I was unaware of. It was terrible, then she tried to fix it and made it worse. She ended up paying to have my hair fixed. I called in sick to work it was that bad.
Aww this poor woman. She's reacting like i would, i barely understand what you're saying but please just do what you think is best to fix it without going almost black 😭
"Ruined", and yet her hair looks healthy, despite the funky color. Not even my best hair day at any point in my life will look as good as her "ruined hair."
I’m so happy I got to see your face. 😎
I would like to see the out come to this video if there’s any 😭. Please keep me updated. Surprise me pls. Thank you and happy new year 🥳
Oh my gawd. WHAT THE F?!? I’m not a stylist but if I was, I’d be damned if anyone left my chair with this. That’s just my work ethic.
i've done similar things to myself on accident and just ended up shaving my head, she kept her head up and tried
Vim porque a IA dublou o vídeo e meu inglês é iniciante 😂 adorei! Só fiquei curiosa pra ver o resultado 😅 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
This client is so beautiful. How horrible of a color job she got. I can't imagine paying arm and leg for that mess🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Definitely there are talented haidressers and the ones that will mess up your hair color or your hair cut...I have been to both.....
❤❤
Is there another video to show the process and how it came out?
I know she doesn’t want a pixie cut but that could solve it until it grew out… Would using a color remover in foils work for the black hair band?
Intense!
I live in germany. Most of the hair dressers here would say to the girl: not possible.. we need to go dark!!! But u can make it work.😊
Hairdresser did this to me growing out for the last 2years as I'm older growing take longer
I am horrified for her because wow😮that’s shocking
Omg, i would cry and get colour chocolate brown and get a very short haircut. And then eat big bowl of ice cream. 😅
I'm a bit surprised that her former hairdresser let her leave with her hair looking so blotchy.
You very good... just wish the sound quality was better...
I love hearing your process of thought during all of this. Wow. I’m glad you had to make this decision and not me… I’d be like..:: “let’s shave it” 😂😂😂 jk jk
How much did it cost to color correct?
Straight like wavy?!
Colour remover medium brown semi and mask then cut like a wool cut curl it can't look worse than that! Highlights in a couple months
Why color remover? There's no artificial color besides the toner?
She says in the consultation that the previous service which left her hair in this state was hilites / lowlights. So colour remover wouldn’t be an option here. It’s not like there’s loads of built up permanent colour or vibrant colours.
Have your viewers voiced their interest in seeing more content of client consultations? Because I'm one of them 😊
I've gotten a comment here or there! But I just haven't really thought much of it in the moment of filming because I'm usually just so excited to get going! Haha
I take notes when watching your videos to learn and would 100% do the same with consultation videos. Thank you for sharing ❤
By what I was taught in beauty school that the hair is made of keratin. Yes that stylist did it wrong.Wow
Do you normally take such thin sections on a regular tints
The client looks like Christina Milian the singer
She's so beautiful hey?
@ that is true. And you did a great job color correcting it. ❤️
