  • The Sport Wing was one of the finished plans by Sherman Gillespie in 1957, in the bunch of plans that I got from him. The video is from the maiden day, June 29, 2024, in Lakeville California.
I converted the wire wing saddle shown on the original plan, to a spruce built-up construction which, I'm hoping is going to be more builder-friendly.
While adjusting the incidences, I opted to only pack the LE of the wing, hoping to keep the amount of down-thrust in check and to maintain the looks of the tail feathers. At the end of the day, I had a 7/16" shim under the LE of the wing, and still needed some down thrust.
The flights on the video are with a 4x 1/8" 10g motor. I believe 6x 3/32" will be a perfect fit, next time I'm out flying the model. There are a couple final and minor additions/modifications I'd like to make before the plan is made available on Oakland Cloud Dusters web site and on OuterZone.
