Oh man, it’s so sweet watching this video, cause you know that this car was his dream, not hers. No woman would go for a 997 NA 911 😅 But, she got the camera, and is ready to go. That’s a “ride or die” you got there bro!
Great video thank you for capturing it in such a straightforward way. You’ve given me confidence that I try it myself!I do wonder what’s up in my radiators!
Good Job Next time you might go to a HVAC shop and get some condenser coil cleaner and soak your rads with it . Let it sit and flush with water in the reverse direction of air flow . Thant will clear the mud and road slop that has built up furring time.
Thanks for the vid! Just pulled my front bumper to clean the radiators and install grill mesh ($3 from HD and some time with tin snips and a hammer). I’m really digging the car - it’s new to me and my first Porsche. 2005 997 2CS. Really enjoy your vids! 👍
@@KRTLyfe I had a time lining up the screws in the bottom (underneath) the bumper after I had made the attachments up top with the spring clips. In hindsight, I should not have put in the spring clips before getting all of the screws in.
Mike PECHOUSEK......thank you sooooo much man…how weird, was working on side light, wire disappeared underneath and behind panel, wasn’t same as other side…and your removal of plastic wheel quard helped me find/fix wire/light in an instant. And we actually had a torx lying around (1 of like 5 or six by total chance) and it fit....go figure. You made my day👍👍. Like your style👍
mirekmtl thank you we make these videos to do our part to help people solve problems and save time! I used to get all my information from the online forums back in the day. They are great resources but when you can see what I’m doing I feel like it helps people like my self a little better! Thank you for the kind words, watching and commenting
@@KRTLyfe could you remove the bumper without taking the side marker lights out once you have disconnected the lighting wiring loom or do the side markers connect to a different loom? Thanks
Thanks for the tips! I have never dug into mine on my 06 S but it’s time to do some horn work and this is a step toward that as well. Considering also putting in grills to reduce the leaf entry. Ever thought about adding those?
I actually thought about adding grills, I have seen a few people do it. I never got around to it myself. While you have that bumper off that would be the perfect time tho! Thank you for watching commenting and subscribing.
@@KRTLyfe I finally got around to putting things back together. I did end up adding grills. I used a metal material for my grills, which keep their shape and thus need few zip ties to keep it in position (I only had to use 3 on each side). I went ahead and made a template from the piece(s) that are physically pressing onto the bumper cover. I made one template and merely turned it over to use it for the other side. I used tin snips to shape it.
@@KRTLyfe in yr video u clean the back of the radiator but didnt remove it , for sure i would need to remove the radiator to get to the fan is this the proper way of replacing the fan ? please advise i appreciate your help
Excellent video, thank you for doing this for all of the 996/997 DIY owners out there. Have you replaced the fans behind the radiators? How difficult is that job to do?
We are glad you found this video helpful! That means a lot to us. I have changed the fans before on my 996. It is a very similar process in fact I think I made a vlog about it. Let me find it.
@@KRTLyfe Thank you for taking the time. Unfortunately this VLOG doesn't show replacing the fan/s. I pulled my bumper off and cleaned my radiators. When you did replace the fan/s do you remember what brand you replaced it with?
@@edthayres9175 Hey at 7 minutes I show how to take the Fan off. I didn’t do a deep dive into it but that along with the the rest of the information in that VLOG should give you a good deal /understanding on how its done. When I did my fans I went aftermarket and I had 3 aftermarket fans fail which is why I did the Fan resistor mod. You can skip all this headache more than likely by going with the OEM Porsche fans.
well produced movie camera girl no shakes must never drink lol i read it wrong i have a 987 bit different but very well done cj from Wales uk .you must sleep at night now trump as gone lol
That zip tie idea is brilliant.
Thank you!
I really appreciate all of your DIY videos. Brought my car to a shop to install Eibach lowering springs and got charged $1700
I've changed both ballast resistors (HVAC & oil cooler) on my 993. Moses smell the roses. Good job I've a lot of patience and small hands.
Zip tie is brilliant to get those clips out, thanks for the tip as I’ll be doing this soon!
Glad it helped!
Any idea how to put those fixing clips back in when reassembling the bumper? Do you simply slide them in?

Great video. I've also used condensed canned air from the back to clear out the clogged fins.
That's a great idea!
I've done the same but after removing the front bumper I found that I can only get so much cleaned out with the bumper on.
Nice job! Getting ready to tackle this job soon!
You can do it! Good luck!

Great camera work..too. Excellent.
Do you work in a shop? How’d you learn “the little things” with these cars?
I been wrenching since I was about 12. I started on Go karts and then cars.

Yes, our possibly fabricating my own.

Did you notice any temperature difference after cleaning the radiators? Great video.
Not on my 997 but it made a big difference on my 996. The 996 radiators were almost 70 percent blocked tho.
And the zip tie was very intuitive
Thank you again !
KEEP iT Up bro Good Work (Y)

if i need to replace the fan do i still need to remove the bumper?
On my 996 I did it with and with out the bumper on. IMHO it’s easier to just take the bumper off.

Replace those orange side indicators with clear ones from Suncoast. They are dirt cheap.

How difficult was it to put the clips back in?
I might try it this weekend.
Putting them back wasn’t bad getting them out was the hard part.
This honestly didn't look too bad to do. Great tutorial man.
