  • One of my favorite card tricks because it can be done with no set-up, a borrowed deck, shuffled and handled by the spectator the whole time. Super amazing...but super easy. One the the greatest.

    I absolutely love this effect. Here’s how I do it- an envelope with a prediction inside it is in full view the entire time. Inside is a DF card. The 2 top cards of the deck match the DF card in the envelope. False shuffle leaving 2 force cards on top. Hand deck to spectator and have them start dealing face down. As soon as first 2 (force) are dealt to the table tell them they don’t have to deal one at a time. They can take from bottom, or from the middle, take clumps or reverse cards, etc- dealing them all to the table. They stop dealing whenever they want. They can deal the entire deck if they want to. When they stop dealing, the rest of the cards (if there are any) are discarded. Now the spectator picks up the cards he/she dealt and deal them again face down alternating one at a time until there are no more cards- now making 2 piles of cards. Spectator chooses the top card of either pile. (No force). Magician says “you could have chose the top card of the other pile”, turns the top card over and says “that would have been (for example) the 2 of clubs. But you chose THIS pile and turns the card over. It’s (example) the jack of diamonds” magician fairly opens the envelope and slides out just ONE card. It’s the jack of diamonds! Perfect match! Before the effect I write the word “prediction” on only one side of the envelope and keep it face down the entire time. I do this because if the card is chosen and it matches the bottom side of the DF card, I need to turn over the envelope which may look “fishy”. But now I can turn it over and point out I have the word “prediction” on it- thus justifying me turning over the envelope.

      Love it! Yes, I love using a DF in an envelope for several other effects as well - having those 2 "outs" eliminates the need for a magician's choice in this case. Great idea. I also use that method for a trick I call "X marks the Spot". You should make a video!

      I agree. It`s better than point to one pile. In my opinion, it would be even better to say: ``We only need one packet of this. Which one should I take away?`` This is the magician choice that I have used for many years. It works perfectly. I've always gotten away with this kind of wording. I often use it when there are 2 outs. For example, 2 envelopes with different predictions inside 🍀

    Very nice trick. Although to me personally, I feel like the last step of reversing the cards while 'counting' them is not necessary and even takes away a little bit from the effect. It feels like just turning over the top card and showing it is the selected card is a little more powerful than turning over the packet? Still, very nice trick, thanks for sharing it.

    • @trapdoormagic
      @trapdoormagic  Месяц назад +4

      Yes, I see your point. I have thought that as well. But I like the idea of counting them out one more time to "see how many they chose" because subconsciously they look like they are being mixed again. There are actually a lot of different options at that point, so its good to be creative. Great input. Thanks!

    Fantastic 🎉 i really love this ❤❤❤ subsribed 🎉 well i just wondering is Bicycle deck the only brand available. In my country there are a bunch of playing card brands - blackjack, Jaws, Swallow, just to name a few. Average price of each pack is just USD 0.50 hahaha 😅 thanks to the low exchange rate 😫

    • @trapdoormagic
      @trapdoormagic  Месяц назад +1

      In the US, Bicycle is just one of the brands manufactured by USPCC (United States Playing Card Company). They have been an industry favorite for 100 years because they are well made and great to handle. But there are many other good card makers as well. A lot of magicians like Phoenix brand playing cards.

    In the last step, wouldn't it be just as effective to not reverse the order and then say "...but wouldn't it be magic if it were the top card?" or is there some psychological advantage to having it be the bottom card?

    • @trapdoormagic
      @trapdoormagic  27 дней назад +1

      That is a great question. And you are correct...that would be just as amazing. For some reason I feel like counting the cards at the end makes them look more randomized...but I could be wrong about that. You are not the only person to make that suggestion, so it's probably a good idea.

    • @TheloniousCube
      @TheloniousCube 27 дней назад

      @@trapdoormagic My thought is that in your version the audience knows that the bottom card's face can be seen, so it seems more suspect to them. Also, if you don't use a prediction, then they have no idea how you saw it. Just thoughts.

  • @magicjim1
    @magicjim1 Месяц назад +3

    @0:45 That is poor patter. Scripting is SO important in magic. Spreading the cards and saying that it "looks like they're all here" is silly. Unless Rain Man is performing, it raises suspicion to spread cards and say that it looks like they're all there. How could you tell so quickly? Clearly you spread them for some other reason.
    Consider saying that you want to make sure thee are no Jokers, or just say that they appear to be shuffled.

    • @dowaliby1
      @dowaliby1 Месяц назад +4

      I would suggest saying, "You shuffled thoroughly shuffled these cards yourself. They are obviously very well mixed and in a random order." Also, I would eliminate the magician doing a "shuffle" after the spectator shuffles. There's no reason for it and in fact might raise the spectators' suspicion that we "did something." Instead, I would probably say, "We'll leave the cards exactly as you shuffled them." In any event, a great trick and thank you for sharing it..

    The only problem I see with this trick is that he keeps saying that the mark is going to pick a card and they never do....he simply writes down a prediction card and then picks it out of the deck in front of them...not much of a trick really...

    • @trapdoormagic
      @trapdoormagic  16 дней назад

      Actually, they do select a card...in fact, the spectator handles the deck the whole time. The magician doesn't need to ever touch the cards. That's one of the reasons this classic effect has been a popular favorite for so many decades. And like most routines, the magic is in the presentation more than the mechanics. This trick has astounded audiences for a long time. Thanks for watching and offering feedback.

    • @trapdoormagic
      @trapdoormagic  Месяц назад +1

      Maybe. But the idea of writing down a prediction isn't really new. But I did it here for demonstration purposes and for the sake of the tutorial. This video is about how to know the spectator's card. You are free to use any revelation you want...and writing it down first is just easier for teaching purposes. Good observation, though. I appreciate your comment.
