I'm with you. I'm no drum nerd at all, but I could watch Gavin play all day long. He's so damn creative and so precise. He's easily become my favorite drummer ever.
Of course, Steven and the rest of the gang are phenomenal too. It's crazy how well they execute these complex songs live. They never disappoint.
Gavin is easily in the same company as John Bonham, Neil Peart and Keith Moon.
But like the rest of P/T, S/W he doesn’t get the popular recognition he deserves but I think among true musical craftsmen he’s very well known.
Richards intro is mesmerising and underscores his value to the band

Watching all the other guys, in awe of Steven during that guitar solo is one of the greatest 2-3 minutes of music i've seen in a while...... You guys had the same reaction, you just looked at each other and smiled. :)
Great! I think What Happens Now would be a good follow up to this. The songs remind me of each other but with more Gavin magic in What Happens Now.
Another thing I’ve always loved about their music are the song endings. Many of their songs, not all but many end with a nice 30 sec to a minute or two cool down so you can start breathing again.
Dark matter here is a good example, Buying new soul, Lightbulb sun. Home Invasion, yeah after 10 minutes of pure epicness ends with a sweet piano interlude and then a banjo. Yeah, a F’ing banjo 🤷 and it’s magnificent.
We need more reactions to PT and Steven Wilson!! I have somehow been the only guy in school who knew about PT and Steve

I've been a movie soundtrack guy for a lot of years, but PT really owns it.

About time to bring Steven back again. Maybe check out some of his solo work, maybe ‘Detonation’ live at the royal Albert hall or ‘ Luminol’ live Not porcupine tree but he put together an amazing back up band
