Picked up a few yesterday on the back of your review. Really happy I did - the coffee flavour in this is far more rich enjoyable and authentic than the Guinness Cold Brew.
Black with beige, medium foam that falls slowly. Coffee dominates, quite sour, green. Sweet notes of vanilla and caramel. Light chocolate and pralines. Lightly roasted for a coffee stout. Low carbonation, sweetness in the upper regions. Nice! :) Cheers!
Had one for the first time last night and loved it . Wanted to see what you thought of this . Was £1.69 a year on , so hopefully they have kept the recipe the same and the price has gone up just right . 👍🏻😊
Simon would you say there is anything artificial added to get the flavour. I've tried this and it's great but just wondering with the IPAs you say there is added some kind of concentrate added. Great review btw. 👍
I've recently been on the hunt for my favourite stout and i think this might be the one. On the nose i get coffee and burnt caramel and the taste just made me smile. I almost did that "yes" fist pump you did, because i was so pleasantly surprised that it didn't taste like one of them designer dessert stouts that have a unique flavor but taste nothing like a traditional stout. This is smooth, rich, full bodied and bitter... It's absolutely brilliant 🤟
The New Inn may have a nice beer garden agreed, but on previous visits we found the landlady would be better suited to running a prison...hopefully she's gone now though?
Just drinking this beer now having picked one up from Aldi on Friday. I'm not enjoying it that much and thought I'd see if you'd reviewed it (which of course you had). Everyone else seems to love it, not sure why I'm not taking to it. Tastes like an espresso martini, which I guess isn't a bad thing, but not what I expected!
Think it is still the same price in the Aldi, I am shocked to tell you the truth! I had gave up on craft beer for the last 6 months I needed a break until today, I saw a watermelon IPA (collab with 7 bros) thought smashing Al get that n saw this stout for after. The stout by far out of both of these beers was the best qaulity
Stouts might be the only passable thing theyve produced for a while. They ruined their great lager Rheinbacher and their knockoff copies have been poor.
Just bought my latest bottles I loved but it's just changed to a piss thin fizzy poor immatation of what it was. They have downgraged the ingredients. Not the beer it was. Such a shame!
if you want Aldi to have turned a corner, don't touch the new "tropicale" unless I had a skunked can, something is very wrong.. tastes like rotting grass, like those nasty home bargains "ales"..
I usually avoid all Aldi beers, the most recent I tried was an imitation of Leffe, almost the same price and it was terrible.... after that I said no more beer from Aldi.............. but after this 10/10 review I might give this a try...I like all stouts so hopefully this will be good
Si you didnt mention it was brewed by Hall and Woodhouse!!! Is that concert by any chance the Red Hot Chili Peppers??? I was spose to be going to that but I am partically deaf at the moment
Is this the same as the Guiness coffee stout? Guinness Guru said that tasted like someone just dropped some Americano coffee in a regular Guinness. Says it tasted exactly how you'd think. He didn't like it.
The issue with the Guinness Guru is, he has quite openly admitted he doesn't like Stouts that lean towards coffee, chocolate etc. So i'd be taking anything he says on the subject with a pinch of salt.
@@JackBWakeham well I just found a can of sour strawberry pavlova beer. Not coffee Guinness, but weird enough for me to try. I have never had anything like this before and I'm expecting something I don't like. Luckily I managed to get a reduced can for £1.80....they originally wanted £3.50, but no way I'm paying that for something I'm not sure I'd enjoy. It's experimental more than anything.
If you really like stout, then you'll hate this sweet concoction of caramel and artificial flavourings. Why this sickly muck gets good reviews I can't fathom. There's nothing like a good, honest coffee stout that's just a decent, dry stout with good coffee added to the wort before brewing. And this is certainly nothing like a good, honest coffee stout!

Totally agree. Coffee is superb.
I've been buying this for a few weeks now and love it. I hate coffee (I like the smell but not the taste) but this is just lovely!
It's been said before - they can contract brew half decent stouts but their IPAs and pales are only fit for cleaning toilets with :(
Trying one now , bloody hell it's awesome, as well as the coffee there is a lovely sweet caramel note.
Just having one of these now, my first time trying it. It really is bloody good, especially at the low cost!
tried it yesterday, bought 4 more bottles today. might have to keep buying. its fantastic this drink
Just to confirm, this is still fantastic in 2023 😋👌
And 2024
And 2025 🎉
And 2026😊
The change of recipe in 2027 was a surprise though!!!
The honesty in your reviews is always appreciated mate
Picked up one of these on the weekend and was blown away by it. So went hunting for a review and found yours. Spot on,
Done same today. Loving it. I'm glad this isn't some watered down drink like many stouts are. It's full on bodied and superb price point.
Which Pilsner do you buy in Aldi?

It’s a 10 out of 10 from me too. It’s an outstanding beer. 👍😀🍺
Managed get hold of this again after it dissappeared off the shelves. Have to say it's an excellent stout for the money

Just tried this. Blimey, decent beer alert. Not bad at all. A bit sweet, but that's not uncommon these days. Cheers.
Tried 1 for something different😮 it’s beautiful Had to get more and more.. what a winner
2024, it’s still amazing
It's okay, smells a lot nicer than it tastes. A bit metallic on the back end. Taking account of the price it's about 7/10 for me....

not on the Aldi website...but in the shop ...picked up a couple for mini Friday..
The best coffee stout on the market for a 500ml bottle £1.69 10 out of 10 😊
Only just managed to find this in my local aldi and its really nice
Still going strong. Bought 6 tonight 👌
My go-to supermarket beer now. Really nice stuff! How about a review on a pint of daaaaaak!! If they still brew it in Cardiff....
Fantastic Dessert Stout. Well reviewed mate.
The New Inn may have a nice beer garden agreed, but on previous visits we found the landlady would be better suited to running a prison...hopefully she's gone now though?
great lacing on the glass si cheers mate
i take it its not bottle conditioned given the way you are shaking it,

Perfect timing my other half has just said that she needs to go to Aldi. I feel that this will be perfect for my tastes. Cheers
Is it better than Guinness coffee brew??
bit late but tried it today, superb beer
Not often you give a 10/10. Think I'll be trying this one.
If its badger then it could be similar to their recent milk maid stout
Better tbh
@@melissagreen508 I'd like to give it a try however they don't stock it in our aldi damn it
Couldn’t agree more, superb go to beer! 🍻
I had this about a month ago it was delicious
Need to get myself a bottle, Right up my street! STC
I try it and one best coffee stout

This beer very nice well done Aldi
Right, I’m off to Aldi then
This beer is soooooo good.
Stouts might be the only passable thing theyve produced for a while. They ruined their great lager Rheinbacher and their knockoff copies have been poor.
delicious, more of a coffee hit than the guiness one
Get the Kent ale from Aldi

No brew by bager brewery
@@louisbeerreviews8964 hall and woodhouse IS badger....

Who cares what that wee scroat has to say

Yeah, maybe he's set in his ways. It's something I'd try if I could sample it or maybe buy a single can, just to see.
@@FPSPRINCESS From what I've heard if you like Coffee and you like Guinness you'll be in luck 😀

Far too fizzy, have they changed recipe since review?
Tastes the same as ever to me. Just give it a more aggressive pour to knock some carbonation out of it if that is what you want to do.
Yeah buddy

I have fond memories of Aldis great Coffee Stout or Porter( ok memories not so great🤷♂️) a few years ago(99p for 330ml).
