    Apologies in advance for not knowing much at all about Aikido. Just wondering what's stopping Uke from simply letting go? Or perhaps if he does let go, is that then considered mission accomplished?

    • @AIKIDOSILVERDALE
      @AIKIDOSILVERDALE  4 года назад

      Nothing. It's a drill/kata. If someone grabs you like this they would probably strike with the other hand. This movement either breaks the grip or at least destabilises the uke. Might be worth you googling "kihon" technique.

      A very skilled sensei would be able to lock the grip and make it difficult to let go. Unfortunately, very few people have this skill. CMIIW

      Again, it depends upon the situation

    • @azharsukma280589
      @azharsukma280589 4 года назад

      Yes, as you said, this is a drill intended to learn the principles of aikido. In real life situation I think it is very rare to have opponents trying to grip.

      @@azharsukma280589 Not just aikido - did you watch the video?? I have taught kids all my life and this kind of grab happens everyday in school somewhere.

    What name was given to Takeda that referenced?

    • @AIKIDOSILVERDALE
      @AIKIDOSILVERDALE  4 года назад +1

      It was an Australian reference so I'm assuming Shihan Yoshinobu Takeda?
