- The first day of the first lunar month is Chinese New Year.
China was founded on agriculture. After the hard work of spring, summer and autumn, winter is a time to rest and celebrate the New Year more joyfully.
There are some legends surrounding Chinese New Year. "Nian" is a monster who is afraid of red and noise. People write Spring Festival couplets on red paper and stick them on the door and set off firecrackers to scare away the monster.
People say that using copper coins can suppress monsters. Nowadays, elders use red envelopes as lucky money to give to younger ones, wishing them safety throughout the year.
Let's practice how to say these customs in Chinese.
From Lesson 1 to Lesson 30, we practiced hundreds of Chinese sentences. Starting from Lesson 31, we practice paragraphs.
There are about ten sentences in a paragraph, and through connectives and context, it can better express the speaker's tone.
A sentence has a subject, verb, and object. To simplify a paragraph, some repeated words must be deleted.
The writing skills of a paragraph are more complicated than that of a sentence and require constant practice to master it.
This is why I chose paragraphs as my teaching material.
All the words in the sentence have appeared in the previous lessons. If you think the sentence is too difficult, you can study the previous lessons first.
Don't forget to take the quiz to see how many questions you can get right?
