    Thank you for all these precious informations! Though, little question ( this is humour of course), it’s not ok to buy a goat randomly from a hoard, but it’s ok to buy a dog in a pet store? I would go with your advises for goats the same way as for my dogs…I would buy them from a breeder. (Unless they are rescued fpdogs or goats 😊). It is a very dense and informative video, thank you so much!

    I have lots of goats although we have never had a vet see our goats, it’s been 5-6 years of owning them and maybe we’re just lucky but none of them have seemed to got sick.

    • @GoatDaddys
      @GoatDaddys  Год назад +1

      That’s great to hear Lexi! So glad it’s been easy going with your goats so far.
      Goats’ health is often dependent upon your geographic location, in addition to many other factors. We’re located in the hot and humid state of South Carolina where parasites thrive. It’s all about locations!
      Regardless of the current health of your livestock, we always recommend at least having a vet in case of emergencies.
      Best of luck on your goat journey, you seem to be off to a great start!

    • @lastharvest4044
      @lastharvest4044 Год назад

      It's all about environment. As long as they're not exposed to anything toxic, have plenty of medicine to browse, rotate pastures, and have a nice dry place to go when it's wet all is well.

    Hi, at what age is it safe to let the newborn baby goat who are bottle fed and no mom allowed to go outside in the 3 sided barn to play during the day? We have 10 day old kids and they have been inside -- bottle fed 3 times per day.

  • @cedargrovefarmgoats
    @cedargrovefarmgoats Год назад

    Hi new to channel. Lots of great info thanks. Question just curious why do you bottle feed? Is it because your doing something with the mommas milk?

    • @GoatDaddys
      @GoatDaddys  Год назад +3

      Hey there, great question! We bottle feed for a few different reasons. 1. It makes the babies super social. 2. Goats(especially our breed of goats) often make awful mothers and are prone to neglecting babies. Bottle feeding ensures everyone is getting the proper amount of milk. 3. As you mentioned, we are a grade a goat dairy so we sell the goat milk to the public.
      Hope this answers your question, thanks for watching!

    What about those homesteaders who want milk, so they breed their goats and get babies and sell them. I'd like advice on breeds and physical qualities and temperament tests we can do ourselves to look for in choosing baby goats to bring home.

    I have 47” page wire fence, with one electric wire at the top (for predators and to prevent goats from jumping over) and two wires at the bottom (to prevent anything going under, and keeps the goats from putting their heads through the fence and from rubbing up against it... which they LOVE to do.. but it stretches it out).
    The goats (babies included) avoid the fence altogether, which makes keeping them safe and contained easy 🤍

    • @GoatDaddys
      @GoatDaddys  10 месяцев назад

      Great idea! I’ve heard lots of success stories with an electric set up like that, and it extends the life of the fence significantly.
