I love this coin very much as well. Decent piece of work to hollow it out. The ghost of George V disappeared and the ghost of Victoria entered.

Interesting to think these coins minted 17+ years apart would one day find each other

😮 I’m going with the espionage theme 🕵️ it needs to be double hallowed out as whatever goes inside it needs the space and weight. It also needs to be subtle enough to know which coin it is at the receiving end. Fantastic stuff 👏

At first I thought it may be some form of trench art from the first world war, lots of similar pieces like that. However on second glance could be anyone's guess! A very interesting coin, thanks for the video!

Nice. A possible apprentice engineering piece?. Instructor challenging his students to set up their lathes correctly. 1918 the war was still on and armaments factories were working full tilt.

I have a 1797 two pence which has been made into a box. Inside it's inscribed with the initials of two people and dated 15 February 1842. A love token?

You have to give credit to whoever did this, as it looks quite hard to do. It could have passed as a normal coin if not for that larger edge preventing both to fit snug together. Could have been used by spies towards the end of WW1 to pass info.

Being a retired toolmaker l know that would have taken some skill to do that. Holding the soft material of the coin in a vice or lathe chuck without damaging it would have been difficult.

I can tell they have been turned down on a lathe by an amateur, possibly used for contraband, snuff or used to hide another more valuable coin ... silver or sovereign. The stories these coins could tell us 👍🥋
