Hi spencer I didn’t no you was on this coin sight that would be handy for me if you ever decided to collect coins as you can learn so much quicker than I have, speak soon about it ,
Another splendid video - clear and concise, as usual. There is an 1895 pattern penny (F777), an example of which sold at auction the other day for a hammer price of £10,000, that has the same 2mm gap between the 'P' and the trident but has an arc of dots from the shield to the sea on the right and a cross above Britannia. I wonder if the Royal Mint removed the dots and the cross and used that die to mint the first 1895 circulating pennies before changing to the 1mm version. The other distinguishing features of the 2mm variety also appear to be on the pattern penny. There was also a 1919KN in EF condition that sold at auction last month for a hammer price of £700.
Hi my father in law has got all of these coins and more coins from Victoria to England and America and Canada and Jamaica coins and New Zealand coins he is selling is collection now
i collected coins as a kid, and my grandparents gave me a huge amount (nan born in 1899 grandad 1894). I had all the coins, like threpence, silver sixpences, crowns, guineas all of them. And around 60 of these penny coins of different ages. some very old back in the 1800's, i remember some so smoothe you could just about tell it was a penny. That amazed me as a child because i understood despite being young that for them to be that smoothe they must have been through millions of pockets and hands. My dad had the huge £5 notes etc... Anyway, they simply went missing when i went looking for them years later, and as it happens many years ago now. Always wondered whatever happened to them all.
I done my first penny hunt recently, from a lot of 7kg purchased at my local auction house. I was quite successful in my view, only five dates missing, from Queen Victoria . I will need to check them again for the variations, it may be something amongst the lot. Thanks for the video 👍
When I was an apprentice joiner I was replacing my Grandfather’s floor in his living room, the house was built in the 1700’s. I found a penny in the dirt dated 1776, still got it in a drawer somewhere.
How do you come by these pennies i collected a lot when I was younger but unfortunately glued them to a sheet of cardboard, and would love to get my hands on a box like yours as some of mine I can't get the glue off. Thank you so much. Good luck in filling your collections.
I am certain that I have none of these as I don’t own any pre decimal pennies😂 However, that does not stop me enjoying & learning in each upload. Whilst you have a solid supplier for your current pre decimal penny hunts, I’d be surprised if you was to find any pre George V ones in XF condition . Perhaps an upgrade in a supplier may help, but of course that could bring extra cost
Hi Ian. I like the fact that my supplier doesn't know the origin of the pennies I buy from them. (An old arcade is my guess) So I never know what I could find. I'm not sure what you mean by an upgrade in supplier?
Late to the party here....found some pennies at the local car boot last weekend and after watching this i've found that I have a 1919 KN and H as well as a 1918 KN..
Hi great video, I would like to find out regarding the 1911 Penny that has the dent in the neck and the i in britt goes straight into the dot, I have have a 1933 Half Penny that is exactly the same, would it also be a rare error coin or not, have you seen or heard of it?
When searching my pennies i came across a 1932 with a dot . Don't know if they all had dots in 1932 as i carnt find any other 1932 pennies. If anyone as one could you see if yours as a dot. Please
I have a casche of Victorian well worn pennies that were recovered during a WW1` dig ,they are black due to them being being in a leather bag and next to a can of oil ,what would they be worth ?
I do use one but it's not good enough for such detail. Have look for a stronger one. Thanks for the reply and keep making learning so enjoyable and interesting 😀👍
Excellent video. Very interesting. I have in my possession a 1901 One Penny which I found whilst gardening twenty odd years ago at a previous address where I used to live
I've had the mintage figures for years. I can't remembers where I got them from. They're on Numista now. Here's the link to the page: en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces578.html
True story: My father who was born in 1901, had a UK penny he thought was unusual because he'd not seen the date on other pennies - 1933. Unfortunately, in the late 1950's, one of my sisters climbed up into the cupboard where it was kept in a box, and spent it on sweets. 😪
The old £ S D had so much character, individuality, intriguing shape and centuries of history. We lost so much when forced into decimal system.
And the history in pennies in everyone’s pocket with all the kings and two queens
Love how descriptive you are in your videos thank you

Get 1000 pennies and only look at 6 in each video you mean? That's over 166 penny videos. I know you would like that Dave
