Fun Fact: This song is the biggest selling single in Jamaica, something Snow admits is ridiculous after taking down Bob Marley. As a fellow Torontonian, we rocked Snow HARD back in the day lol.
His manager couldn’t get clearance to perform in the United States because of his prior felony conviction, otherwise he would’ve blown up much bigger here.
Snow grew up in a Jamaican area of Toronto, Canada. Toronto is a huge melting pot of world cultures. This song spent 7 weeks at # 1 on the U.S. Hot 100 in 1992.
I wouldn't call it a melting pot, Melting pots are more like in the US where people are expected to kinda assimilate to local customs and culture. Toronto is more like a Mosaic where we like people to keep their culture and customs and just learn to appreciate each others backgrounds and shit. So glad I grew up in Toronto and got to meet so many different people and learn about their culture. Also gives use lots of very good food and music like this from around the world. :P
This song came out back in 1992 or 1993 when I was 19. I had just bought a brand new '93 Ford Mustang and took it directly to a local home/car audio dealer and dropped an upgraded sound system in it (new speakers, amp and bass tube) and I remember driving around town blaring this song. Man, we thought we were so cool trying to impress the girls (never did)...lol....still a cool song almost 30 years later.
This came out in 1992 and I was 20 years old! It was on my local radio stations night top 8 playlist for weeks! I don’t remember what time of year but I’m sure of the year!
Snow was accused of a crime involving a stabbing. It turned out it was innocent and never charged. Ironically, the first time he saw his video on MTV, he was in prison. Canadian Jamaican reggae... I bumped this tune bag in the day!

He grew up in a jamaican neighborhood in toronto thus the jamaican accent. Also while in jail for the "stabbing" this song came out, and word is he was picked up from jail in a limo when they decided he didn't commit said crime and this song was top ten on billboards chart. even though he looks like a goofy white guy, the neighborhood he came from was very rough. Just saying i would not "Inform" on him...lol
It was 2 counts, not just the one. He did 8 months for it and was actually still in jail when the song came out. It's said that was when he first saw the video for it.
His pal and himself were chased by two groups of 4-5 men. When they both escaped they met while Snow's mate was covered with blood because it was himself who stabbed two guys in self-defence. The police and the judge just replaced charges because they hated the whole Snow's family , all with criminal records. So he didn't say it wasn't him but later on trial his friend told the truth and he was free to go. His mate was in prison accused of breaking a jaw to the guy that was done by Snow. He took everything on himself. Later , the same judge gave him a two year sentence for that broken jaw no matter his friend accepted guilt . Snow negotiated with the judge because he already spent 8 months for nothing and he decided to lower sentence from two to one year and Snow spent that time in prison later.

He's from Toronto, and he's speaking in Patois. He grew up in the projects in Scarborough. Unfortunately, he showed up about the same time as Vanilla Ice, and was labelled a fake. He's genuine. 'Licky boom boom down' is Jamaican slang for 'I'm going to shoot you'. Snow was in prison for attempted murder when this song was released. The first time he saw the video was from his jail cell.
30 years of listening to this song and still not been able understand the lyrics without looking it up. This song was way to advanced for its times. One of the best songs while I was growing up.

Snow was from my neighborhood back in the day. Scarborough. Brap brap 5-0 is the police for anyone who doesn’t know And lickey boom boom down means when the cops would take us in and go the body cavity search in Scarborough/Toronto. Snow grew up in the projects and was raised by a black family. I believe his parents died when he was young. Snow was charged with double homicide but was never proven in court. Toronto was badass back in the day. Street gangs everywhere. Still is. But now it’s cleaned up big time.
He says that people think he was born in Jamaica, but he said, and I quote, "I'm from the one Toronto" i.e. he was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, additionally, I can almost sing this

I suggest now to watch Him Carrey's parody called Imposter. He performed it back in the 90s on In Living Color. Keep in mind this is from a comedy show that touches several jokes or jabs about current events at the time...so maybe put a disclaimer before you start if you watch on this channel lol.

Snow is Canadian (as am I) and I remember when this song came out. It was a HUGE hit. He grew up in Toronto and those in his neighbourhood were all from the islands (specifically Jamaica) so it's in his blood. The song is about “Informer” basically as an insult against those who he claimed “snitched on” him, which led to him doing an eight-month bid in the maximum-security Toronto East Detention Center. Owing to this, the hook of the track is based on Snow physically threatening the “informer” who got him locked down. He's singing a combination of English and Jamaican Patois (creole).
Totallyyyyyyy different vibe but I would love to see you guys react to Amanda Gorman's inauguration poem from yesterday. Ya'll are thoughtful reactors and I'd love to see your reaction.
Well, I can definitely say, that what he was wearin, was the "in-style" of that year. I grew up in the 80's & early 90's. So, I remember when this came out and until he was on some show, they didn't even know he was White. So, they ridiculed the Hell out of him. Even to the point, where the SNL comedy people, did a parody to it, with Jim Carey playin Snow...
Check out "Lonely Monday Morning" guys if you like these old skoo jamz check out M.C Shan - Left me lonely and M.C Shy D - I dont want to treat you wrong... Snow's Informer album was his best but he made a few of them 7 I believe, could be wrong tho

90’s rocked !
My senior yr of high school! Great music growing up during that time!❤🎶Lady w Red Dress💃
Hahahahahahhah
In grade 10 I swore to God himself id never get sick of this song. Lol maybe that explains the struggle in my late teens hahaha.
Honestly tho what a hilarious song to react to. Hilarious ive know this fuckin song forever. Hahahahahhah
Old school love it forgot about this song!!!
I don't remember when he appeared but this guy is the bomb right now
He is real OG. Accused on double murder, best selling reggae single, white boy from Toronto.
best album title ever - 12 inches of Snow
Epic songs from that album 😊
Snow is recently Featured in Daddy’s Yanky’s “ Con Calma” song 🎵, love that part❤️🔥
I become 16 again as soon as I hear this.
straight fire in 2024, Mr. Snow
Another great Canadian
He's from Toronto, and he's speaking in Patois. He grew up in the projects in Scarborough. Unfortunately, he showed up about the same time as Vanilla Ice, and was labelled a fake. He's genuine.
'Licky boom boom down' is Jamaican slang for 'I'm going to shoot you'. Snow was in prison for attempted murder when this song was released. The first time he saw the video was from his jail cell.
30 years of listening to this song and still not been able understand the lyrics without looking it up. This song was way to advanced for its times. One of the best songs while I was growing up.
💯
Funny thing about this song for me is that the first time I heard it, I thought it was some Indian dude rapping in Hindi 🤣Great song.
Full tema ... 😘 desde Colombia
Please do "Short change hero" by The Heavy. Their song has over 5 million views, the first minute and a half is intro music but then the song starts, it's awesome!!! Love your reactions
Not sure how true it is but I heard that Snow was actually in prison for attempted murder when this video was filmed.
Snow looks like your average accountant but he's a real OG.
Jamaican threats....you're gonna what me down?
In living color did a parady of this called Imposter ☺
Torontonian here, check out whitey don, hes another white reggae artist from Toronto, he worked with snow a few times also phife dawg from tribe called quest, also check out albarosie, an italian that moved to kingston jamaica and does reggae
She had a dope reaction to that line lol
Well 2 times of attempted murder sentence says something about this guy considering he looks like a accountant :D
Snow was from my neighborhood back in the day. Scarborough. Brap brap
5-0 is the police for anyone who doesn’t know
And lickey boom boom down means when the cops would take us in and go the body cavity search in Scarborough/Toronto.
Snow grew up in the projects and was raised by a black family. I believe his parents died when he was young.
Snow was charged with double homicide but was never proven in court.
Toronto was badass back in the day. Street gangs everywhere.
Still is. But now it’s cleaned up big time.
Toronto’s worse now
You have to watch Snow: Lonely Monday Morning song. That’s my favorite!
I love how he has black women as the centre ❤️ we need more of this
He says that people think he was born in Jamaica, but he said, and I quote, "I'm from the one Toronto" i.e. he was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, additionally, I can almost sing this
"People think I come from Jamaica but me born and raised in Etobicoke" "Me born in da 1 Toronto".
Good stuff😀 Whats your connection? Married? You two seem to be people of faith. Thanks for sharing
I was 3 when this came out
And my older siblings never what he was saying,,we just liked the rap flow and beat
If you want a fun Trip down Canadian one off like this try Maestro Fresh Wes - Drop the Needle or let your backbone slide, RaggaDeath- One Life or Dance with the Devil
Snow's album was named "12 Inches of Snow". Best album name since the Rolling Stone's 'Sticky Fingers'.
I suggest now to watch Him Carrey's parody called Imposter. He performed it back in the 90s on In Living Color. Keep in mind this is from a comedy show that touches several jokes or jabs about current events at the time...so maybe put a disclaimer before you start if you watch on this channel lol.
Yeah, this is back in my day. #90sforsure #90s
So I’ve been watching quite a few reactions to Toronto talents, so I’d like to recommend you react to another Toronto hit “back in the day”. Maestro Fresh Wes - Let your Backbone Slide ruclips.net/video/CsPS0lN-ulY/видео.html
Yup another T-Dot legend!!
This is a great song and from back in the day real talk
Pretty good is bs folks lol Who else can sing like that it’s totally nuttz and as far as the outfit goes that’s 90’s treads and that’s not even a factor it’s just a blazing song that goes and goes from front to back …
Good job Snow , Dj Prince , And Mc Shan … thanks … GOD BLESS !!!
He's singing a combination of English and Jamaican Patois (creole).
lickit boom boom down; lickit (sound of a gun cocking) boom, boom, down.
Totallyyyyyyy different vibe but I would love to see you guys react to Amanda Gorman's inauguration poem from yesterday. Ya'll are thoughtful reactors and I'd love to see your reaction.
I believe he wrote most of this album while in prison...lol.... Looks like he'll finish the song and then do your taxes...😂😂
Wow, now this brings me back to my high school years
Hahahaha yall are great!!!!
His outfit is very nineties lol very Boy George, very MC Hammer lol
Favourite couple fosure
As a Canadian, really confused when y'all think " lick your boom boom down" means something other then retaliation?
This is the original snitches gets stitches song.
I am diggin Shawn's ankh tat, much spec cause that comes from my faith
Still a masterpiece
You can clearly say she heard more then he does. What a surprise :D
