At some point I realized that Sephora offered 100 point mini mascaras often enough that my skincare habit could fuel my makeup “purchases” 😅 I haven’t bought mascara in a few years! Using the mini sizes feels more sanitary as well, and I feel like I’m not wasting product when I throw it out within the actual recommended timeframe… While I do have preferences, using a mascara primer makes essentially any mascara work for me! Plus keeping some spoolies on hand to remove clumps is helpful.
please do an updated version of “if i could only keep one,” and maybe a video of iconic HLP products!! like elf active lip and cheek, kevyn aucoin neo highlighter, make up for ever concealer, ~m a y b e~ tom ford wild ginger although i’m pretty sure we all know it’s expired 💀. i love your channel so much it’s definitely a safe haven for me 💖💖
I have a lot of trouble with mascara transfer, even with waterproof, so I LOVE the Thrive one as a second coat mascara. I put a layer of waterproof to hold the curl and then this overtop once that dries. It gives me great volume and length and it never, ever transfers. But I agree that it's not super great on its own. For my specific issues, though, it's worth it to me. I've tried every powder and primer under the sun and this mascara is the best and easiest option for me.
SAME SAME! I use the Cover Girl Super Sizer Waterproof as "primer" basically, and then another coat, then the L'Oreal Double Extend (tubing mascara) over that. (the Thrive does actually flake slightly on me, sadly, but not the L'Oreal.). Bullet-proof.
I... don't know why... but i thought Roller lash was a nod to like the rollerskating era... not... curling rollers. omg... I feel so... dumb lol Also CoverGirl Exhibitionist in waterproof is a GREAT waterproof mascara!
I know you've had the marble background for a few videos now, but I just wanted to let you know that I love it! ❤ Keep being you, because I love watching all of your videos
I am only interested in mascaras that give me massive, black, tangled, bedhead lashes (splonky? sploinky?) and my search for the perfect one has been lengthy and exhaustive. I was so excited to ~finally~ find THE BEST mascara this spring....and now I think it's been discontinued. It is the Isa Dora Insane Volume Lash Styler (with the ugliest packaging - and most jacked-up looking brush I have ever worked with - but it is perfection. This mascara gave me Inky black, thick, tangly lashes - and clumped at the base where I want it to, and lengthened into perfectly irregular, spiky points). I wanted to recommend it to you but I can't get a hold of it anywhere....
I always keep and clean off my favourite mascara wands because I find using them as a lash comb with other sup par mascaras makes me like them more. If the formula is just bad it doesn't work as well, but I find that a lot of the time it's the actual brush that does (or doesn't do) most of the leg work.
So funny how people have different experiences! I LOVE the Thrive mascara. Makes my lashes look great and lasts all day in the operating room where I work . I also think it comes off so easy .
Wanted to add I used the code for $5 off so THANK YOU🥰 I got that on top of the labor day sale and hoping against hope this could be my perfect every day sheer natural polish as my skin tone is similar to yours and I’ve had noo luck finding one I like so far. Appreciate you Hannah, so v much💓
The Essence Lash Princess in the green tube has a small brush and gives me the same results as Punk up the Volume. But mascaras work differently on everyone, so do with that what you will.
I hate tubing mascaras due to the tubes going everywhere too! My favourite mascara is still the too faced damn girl, love that for volume! And I tend to use a basic one for length and separation on the first coat and then too faced for the second two coats. I tried the lash freak because Sam liked it but yeh, not easy to apply evenly
I actually cleaned my Lash Freak mascara wand to stop the clumpiness on the brush. I like the effect and the wand shape works nicely, but my biggest issue is that product glumps on it and once it hits that glumpy point it clumps my eyelashes. I don't think I'd repurchase overall because I shouldn't have to wash a wand!
I have similar mascara preferences and I was also super surprised by roller lash. I generally go for the voluminized, gunky look but I had a trail size of roller lash and really liked it. I also dont really judge a mascara by the wand because I like mascaras with many different wand types.
Hi, I'm new, but I enjoyed your video. I thought I was bad when I had three different ones, but hey, I feel better!! I'm using one of Boots No 7 right now& a wet & wild mascara, I usually use or have been getting one from Amazon, the Honest Beauty, I love it, but my second tube was dried out!!! I'm not happy about it and I won't buy it again. I truly love Chanel, it my favorite one, and I love Makeup Forever Smoky Aqua Lash, MAC quit making Zoom lash, that was my go too, and they changed Lancome Defencils. Girl, I been around a mascara wand!!!❤️🤪
I don't love it but I must have oily lids or something because I *must* use a waterproof topped with a tubing mascara or else!! (Or else I get flaking, smearing and smudging by noon). It's worth the debris to avoid looking like a raccoon. lol.
I ended up layering 3 mascaras today, and brushing with clean spoolie some, before I was happy with my lashes today. Seriously, enjoy all mascara content
I do not like the Thrive mascara either, for all the same reasons you mentioned. Yet I held onto it, because every person who reviews it's RAVES about it. I didn't know if maybe I was doing something wrong, so I kept it. But after time I realized I just never used it, so I finally decluttered it. I don't miss it!
Doucce's mascara description reads like a bad translation, even though it's a US-based brand, but maybe English isn't the first language of the owner or the person who came up with that description?
I own so much unnecessary makeup but I’ve used only one single mascara for at least the past eight years or so- Heroine Make Volume and Curl. Ticks every box. I’ve never felt the need to search for another.
I know you mentioned it before, but where did this gorgeous makeup bag from? It is all I ever wanted in a bag and more! 🥰 and since my makeup bag is on it's last leg, I need to look for a replacement. 😅
Just a little reminder that ideally we throw mascaras out after 3 months and at the very most keep them for 6 months. That is the medical advice anyways.
Clicked because I feel personally offended as the Flower beauty is one of my fave mascaras! I find it gives my lash a volumous fluttery separated look, complete opposite of how you described it. I also love their other mascara for a more statement look. The thrive mascara didnt work for me, lashes were flat as a board and clumpy and MEHHH.
It's so interesting how different our experiences can be with a makeup product. The flower beauty mascara is my current go-to when I want to do the most (NGL I also love that it's called Warrior Princess and has that 90s riot girl zine aesthetic), while roller lash has historically often been my go-to for fluttery lashes that look pretty but aren't dramatic. When Hannah first got Roller Lash I assumed she'd hate it based on her preferences!
I am really picky about mascara. I like the Milk Kush for volume, but it flakes and smudges so badly, so I top it with Glossier Lash Slick to seperate and keep it all in place!
I have three issues with mascara: clumping, dryness and transfer. Almost every mascara does well initially where clumping is concerned, but drying out my eyes and transfer can be detected immediately, I used to use a Jordana mascara made in Italy that for $3 or $4 worked as well as Lancome, but when I moved to a state that had no CVS’s, kinda gave up on that. I mostly use Essence, but the Roller Lash and Bad Gal Bing are what I buy when feeling splurgy.
I have the exact same problem with transfer. Started when my eyes got saggy. I have tried dozens of mascaras with no luck, until...i was watching a YT video with a lady who had the same problem and raved about rhis Korean brand that is totally transfer proof. I was curious so I bought it and...OH MY GOSH!!!, this stuff is AMAZING!! Its called "KISS ME Heroine Make Volume and Curl Super Waterproof " Weird name, but I am so happy to have found this little miracle! My lashes love it!
Totally agree regarding the thrive mascara. I personally love the tubing mascara, and I just use some water on a makeup eraser to gently pull the mascara off :) I do love that mascara personally but I am pretty natural / fairy style Note I have the travel size tho so it could be different from the full size
Your thoughts on the thrive and waterproof mascaras made me curious if you’ve ever tried dying your lashes. I love doing mine as it gives me definition at the beach without worrying about a waterproof mascara and looks really natural when I’m doing the least. Many brow dyes which you already do also work for lashes
@@Calberta most important is to start slow and only do what your comfortable with. First, watch a few eyelash tinting videos on RUclips and then just do one eye at a time and don’t worry about the product getting too close to the roots or getting things perfect the first time. Just do a little and see how you react to the dye. Also keep tons of q tips nearby while you’re learning.
I really like the Merit gimmick, but whenever I look at buying something I realize that I have something in my kit already that I love and that works well (and that costs a lot less!) Have you tried anything from them other than the mascara?
I used Thrive for years I just hate that eventually it does feather , but it has spoiled me to Tubing mascaras because of the clean way it comes off. When it starts feathering heavily I find it maybe is older than it is. I also find I really like the Clinique version of tubing mascara. I just can’t do the raccoon eye anymore.
I've started to have more mascara less days, and I'm starting to use my liquid liners as replacements for mascara (meaning I skip mascara when I wear liquid liner). Right now the mascara I want to use up but just refuses to die is my Fenty mascara sample in Ivy League (the green one).
I keep the Thrive tube mascara only for my lower lashes. I find that it doesn't flake as most others do when on my lower lashes. It lasts forever because I use so little every day.
This gal is a bit envious that you can wear a number of mascaras. I’m always amazed at collections of mascaras due to all my sensitivities. Deal breakers abound. Castor oil, cones, talc, SLS, bismuth, and I know there are more that I haven’t figured out yet. I have crappy lashes. They are thin, sparse, short, and as I’ve aged they’ve worsened. If I could find non-irritating mascara, my options would be shorter bristles, slightly dryer formula, and **not** black.
that merit mascara was so dissapointingly gawd awful. didnt hold curl, was clumpy and flaked like no other. SMH. I was so excited for merit and it was such a big fail across the board for me SMH
I'm so lame with mascara, I just buy whatever is cheap and there in front of my face at the drug store first. I feel like it's all kind of the same for me. I did recently start just coating the outside edges so I look like I have bigger eyes
Unpopular opinion: I don’t think expensive mascaras are worth it. I spend money on things that will affect my skin. But mascara and lipsticks can be great and inexpensive. I used to work at Sephora and was given quite a few expensive mascaras. Sure, it feels fun to have them. And, if you’re boujie and can afford it, fine. But everyone working within a budget (most of us), should not feel like they are missing out. If only drugstore products had testers out like Sephora, I could find a practical dupe for any high end mascara. Thank god for liberal return policies.

Same! The travel sizes are perfect for trying out formulas but also for being able to grab as little perks.

I’m so relieved that I’m not the only one who hates the tubing mascara debris! No mascara I’ve tried is worth that unpleasantness for me.
I've been using the EM Cosmetics mascara for a while, and the wash off is the worst part about it.

The Lancome mascara is not your only waterproof mascara!
The roller lash mascara is also waterproof

IMO the maybelline lash sensational is a drugstore dupe for roller lash if you ever feel like replacing it! I love both those mascaras
