Back in the day, I watched the original series, and asked Gran for this for Christmas. It was a die cast metal. Had a winch and I think radioactive waste cans, and a parachute, which came off. The feet were springy. I think the belly opened to store the cans I would have been great to also get a USS Enterprise, but I had to pick one or the other, and Space 1999 had more appeal to me back then. I had no idea until now there's such a following, & the ship model would be reproduced all these years later!
I would say the Dinky would stand up better as something to play with, these are better just for display, certainly at the price they are (out of bounds for my children!)
I got mine from the Gerry Anderson web site shop.gerryanderson.com , I preordered it so they may have sold out now but they have some other versions due out.
Beautiful ship. The Eagle is a very smart design.

It brings to me good memories when I watched the TV show. Greetings from Brasil, São Paulo.
Hi from York in the UK, Many thanks for your comment. I too watched the TV show, 1999 seemed so far in the future then 😀
1:59 centerfold drawing has no tubes at all connecting the engine parts.
It looks amazing, I never see this stuff for sale in the top end hobby stores and this worries me
Thanks for your comment. I got this one online, ordered as soon as it was announced.
Have got both the Dinky die-casts from the 70s, (Well-battered!) and I was wondering how does the quality compare with this new model, made in China?
