Lou,love the old trucks. I grew up around trucks and remember my dad speaking about the Chevrolet Maple Leaf. This is what this truck was known as in Canada. I was told my grandfather (my dads father) had one of these in Jamaica in the '40's. I worked on a '49 Chevy pick up years ago and this truck brought back memories 😀🙏👍.
Paul, Happy to read you "love the old trucks" :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of your Dad sharing about the "Maple Lead". Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
What a great Car Story! Very nice and unique truck. The early post-war cars and trucks are quite something - including this one. Bravo gentlemen! Thanks Lou!
Hi Jeff, Happy to read you enjoy the story on this truck :-) Not something I would usually post, however I agree, the story and condition were worthy of an exception. My pleasure sharing this one with you, and I appreciate your support. You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful truck Lou. my grandpa had a towing and wrecker service from 1941 until about 1975. He had trucks like these except all his were Fords, I know he had a 47, 53, 55, 60, and 65 Ford wreckers. I have the roof light that came off of the 55 one looks just like the one one this truck. Still works too. Have a great day Lou.
Hi PlymouthDuster225, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this truck. Glad to read this car brings back memories of your Grandpa's trucks :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Walt, Happy to read "A stunning looking truck". Well clearly it's "My Car Story"....however if you type into RUclips search "My Car Story with Lou Truck" I think you might find a few more that have sneaked in :-) Lou
Bonita historia! Jaja. ¡Excelente video, y saludos!
Very cool ! My uncle and father both owned local filling station/garages. Remember them using tow trucks from around this era even though at the time they were considered old trucks then. Being family owned they purchased old used trucks they could afford. Would like to see more old restored trucks , panel trucks and sedan delivery.
With my 1946 Chevy potato barrel truck I could really identify with your "46 Cbevy tow truck. Both your truck and my truck were fixed to demonstrate the same function as they did when they were new. Here in Northern Maine potatoes were harvested using barrels, The flat body on my Chevy could hold about 40 barrels full of potatoes so that they could be carried from the field to storage, I bring the truck to parades so that the old timers can enjoy it. I'm 5 years older than the truck.
Hi Richard, Happy to read you have a fun truck too. Make sure to watch the commercials and try not to skip them before the video as that is how I get paid so I can keep sharing with you. Thank you, Lou
Hi Rudolph, Happy to read you like pick up trucks, and since the RUclips Channel is named "My Car Story" you're probably not going to see many.......however if you type into RUclips search "My Car Story with Lou truck" I think a few sneaked in :-) Check them out, and enjoy, Lou
@@loucostabile I've seen them, but as Christopher Walken said, "I got a fever. And the only thing that will cure it is more cowbell." In my case, more pickups!
Nice to see a truck on the channel. It'd be cool to see some more. Especially some of the 50's and 60's pickups, they have so much chrome and design flair they rival passenger cars of only a few years before they were made.
Hi Joseph G, Well this "truck" slipped in to "My Car Story" :-) Lou P.S. if you type into RUclips search "My Car Story with Lou truck" you'll see a few more that slipped in.
Hi, Lou! I must say this is one tow truck that would exercise anybody's jaw! Such an awesome restoration by Jeff and Chuck to get it to look like THAT and pay tribute to Jeff's grandfather! Now I know who to call if I ever break down anywhere near Flint, Michigan! LOL! Many thanks to you Chuck, Dan and Jeff for this pilot episode of "My Tow Truck Story"! Hey, do you know if Chuck Woolery is related to the game show host of the same name? He, BTW, hosted "Love Connection", and was the original host of "Wheel of Fortune". The original hostess and "letter turner" was Susan Stafford.
Nice story. At age 61 from N.H. I remember the old 'MACK' trucks, thanks to you. Chrome valve covers on a tow truck. Well, corrosion is a problem. Back in the day there weren't any flatbeds, and the car designs were easily towed damage free. C-YA
Lou, several years ago, my dad, and I, restored a 1917 Chevy tow truck/wrecker. It was a great fun project to do together but it was not fun to drive/handle.
This has to be one of your best posts so far. It isn't every day that one sees a "Draggin' Wagon" wrecker truck restored to pristine condition. This is a beautiful example of a classic tow truck from back in the day! Excellent find! I just wish that it was filmed outdoors rather than the stuffy indoor venue that you shot this video.
There used to be a pair of 49 or 50 GMC wreckers here that had originally belonged to the Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealership and they were in use by the dealer from new until he sold the dealership in the early 90’s. Both trucks were sold off and the bigger one stayed in service until it was wrecked and the other smaller one was in service for several years before it was bought by a guy who was trying to open a car museum about 70 miles away but he never opened it. I don’t know what happened to it after that. Both trucks looked like new and even the original white with black fenders and trim paint still shined.
That my friend is a thing of beauty!!! I love the truck and the story of this beautiful truck!!! The whole thing is remarkable and the little details like the rear light brackets made from J hooks, the lettering, the pin striping, what a great truck and the fact that it has family history is just the cherry on top of it all. Very cool truck, very cool video.
What a great moment.... Wow brought tears from watching all the happiness
