On this hunt we did not have have any Livingston Gundogs. They are a great member of our kennel club program, and our camera man Zach has a Livingston Gundog from Livingston Gundogs Atlantic. Joe's lab is from Blazing Gundogs. Copper is from Red Tide Retrievers. And I'm not sure where Cash or Zeke is from!
All of the birds went home in coolers. Everyone in our group always eats everything we shoot so nothing goes to waste. New York also has these large limits like this in early season due to an overpopulation of resident geese, so there is also a great conservation reason beyond just food for the hunters.
@alpha Dog Nutrition: fair enough and I understand perspectives on both sides of such a discussion. I guessed over-population might have had something to do with the answer. I write as an Englishman in NY, more familiar with Game shooting in the UK or Wildfowling. There would be an outcry of protests there, is such videos appeared showing such numbers shot daily. In my youth, I wouldn't have battered an eyelid at that shooting but now, older & wiser, I cringe a little at hearing the volley of shots towards incoming skeins.
