But meanwhile, time is ticking, it's a young person's game and they may miss their chance to do the work they love, make it big, etc....and meanwhile, too, they're doing scutwork to survive, and we're back to their wanting to take care of their kids and having too little money to do it. Fighting the power may be right and necessary, but there's a reason it's not always done.
What I don’t get though- is don’t they still get paid literally thousands of pounds. Yet people with regular jobs can afford to send their kids to college? (Not all- I’m just saying) like not devaluing her opinion- I just mean I’m confused-
She's so involved in this issue because of her own fight during early seasons of GREYS. She was the title character and was being paid half of what her love interest was earning
You know why?? Because he had a bigger name. He was wanted so they paid him what he want. She could have negotiated. Maybe she did. I know these things happen because my brother use to be in movies for fun. Well they wanted him to be in a movie that was being filmed 6 hours from where we lived. My dad said no. They wanted my brother so bad they offered much more money and a principal part.

And then she proved all the male executives wrong, by being THE main character AND holding the show together AND it continuing to be a success “without a “male lead””. She’s all kinds of awesome. 💪❤️💪
@@jrr8828 the challenge was… when THEY became successful… HIS pay was increased disproportionately to hers. Yet THEY were the stars & SHE was the main character.
Prior to being “mcdreamy” he was a nerdy-looking b-grade actor at best. This show made him a star.

She was the main character in Grey’s anatomy. Dempsey was paid a lot more at first cuz he was better known. That was fair. But as the show became a hit because of HER, they didn’t want to pay her what she deserved and Dempsey didn’t help her get a better pay (she asked him to speak up, he refused. He was an ass.) The Friend’s cast got paid the same because they stood together for equal pay.
Friends are actually friends, they wated to bump Jennifer and David's salary, basically making Lisa, Matt, Cortney and Mattew supporting characters, which is bullshit, so they stood together. TBBT did something similar when John, Kaley and Jim got a raise but Simon and Kunal were getting written out, so they demanded a pay cut to keep them

Tbbt basically didn't chose to do that and they didn't have the confidence to stand up to the people racking in the money off they work. They offered to cut their pay so their coworkers stay on, which just gives weird vibes and is taking care of the rich people that pay them.

@ShotokanRed that’s what I was thinking too, then I got to thinking about Pompeo’s causes and I don’t think she was talking about herself. I think she was speaking on behalf of all the actors and writers that are striking. Not all actors/writers play the titular role on a show for 19 seasons, but they all want to be able to put their kids through college.

I don't think employees gererally expect to be paid fairly, because hardly any are. It's usually the lion's share of the money going to the people at the top, and everyone else getting only as much as those running things can get away with.

They don't know if they're going to have work the following years. And it's worse for women: female actors have a really hard time finding good roles as soon as they start showing signs of aging. 😢

They could have used Noah Centeino who's pretty famous among young Millennials and old gen z's and has an annual pay of $400,000.
