This was my favourite costume in the opera. I love the idea behind all the women's clothing in this production. It was so interesting to see the contrast between Donna Anna and Donna Elvira's costumes. The written word vs the ink stain. Very stunning
Jesus, it must cost millions of dollars to put on a single ballet, with all the skilled artisans involved.
I think they’re under contract usually? So they get paid a set amount rather than paid for each individual production.
this is opera not ballet?
Skilled ???? You call THAT skill ?
Morgan Olfursson They have to design and create the dress. You think any unskilled mook can do that?
It costs a small fortune for whatever production. Costumes are costumes and whether it's Nixon in China or a traditional sleeping beauty it'll the costs are huge.
This is awesome! Can I just say, the dye is wonderful but the draping and pleats in the skirt of that gown is just as stunning! Doing something that simple is SO hard because it has to be perfect!
I was so nervous when she touched the dress in the very end with her gloves still on. They had black dye on the fingers.
same
Dried
I was thinking the exact same
MonoTrom MC?
Sparkle Gamer exactly :)
What a stunning design and what skilled and dedicated hands to bring it to life!
This is amazing to see behind the scenes all the skill and know how.
very interesting... I really love her glasses.
I can't believe she grabbed the dress with the glove covered in ink. I know it was dry, but still...
Really interesting! Thanks for sharing.

how do i get this job....
Natalia Del Pozo know people that know people and make these people know you.
Biology, chemistry, art and design I suppose... idk what else
Textiles art
I wish I had that dress ...
I feel the need to ask if the dyes are mixed in chamber pots. Which is amazing.
that was my immediate thought as well...
They needed the right color of brown
Lisa T For proper dyeing non-reactive containers are preferred, and better if they can boiled on the stove. The porcelain coating on the chamber will not chemically react with the dye. (Unlike us crafters who grab whatever plastic bucket or thrift shop pot and cross your fingers.)
Just lovely !!
That studio 🤤
Il faut maintenire les metiers pour cree des robe
I need to dye my wedding dress black what product should I buy?
What would I have to do to work for the art direction or production design for The Royal Opera House?
Maria Jose yessss me too I'm still studying but whenever I see this stuff I'm so tempted to just finish school and TRY to think of how to get that job.
I know right? I'm so in love with this, what are you studying? I study Graphic Design
WOW! This dress is gorgeous. How do you make the dress sit up on the waist side?
The bodice has a pointed front, which goes lower than the waist. This makes it look as though the skirt is going up at the sides.
1:09 Those look like old-fashioned chamber pots -- kept under the bed for overnight needs.
Lovely!
What kind of ink did she use?? Where can I get them??
No mask with dye mixing?
Amazing
歌劇場の衣裳部に染色の専門スタッフまでいるのか。
日本のオペラやバレエでは考えられない。歌舞伎ならあるのかな。日本の衣裳は色が悪い。ヨーロッパの人の色彩感覚は優れている。
Looks like something they wear in horror movies.

WHY THE F.... DOES SHE TOUCH THE DRESS WITH HER GLOVES ON IN THE END , THE GLOVES STILL HAVE INK ON IT !!!!!
GIRL COME ON !
The big huge problem w/ opera today is that the emphasis isn't on great singing.
So many people in the profession don't even know what a great voice is or what great singing is.
When I go to the MET I rarely hear great singing. Memorably bad productions, but no memorable singing.
I don't like that look.
