Addressing Punk's criticisms wasn't damage control but acknowledging the fact everything he said about Tony and Aew is true. The only move was never address it and put on a show. But the man in charge is highly insecure and he can't take any criticisms.

One of the main reasons I really would like AEW to air that footage live on TV is because it will make them look more of a joke to WBD. It will further prove to them that AEW, and by proxy its owner, doesn't understand or value business, and doesn't understand that every single minute of TV expensive. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if WBD gives a very low ball tv deal offer to AEW following this week

In my opinion Pro Wrestling is about making the fans think what they see on their TV is real. It isn’t about letting them see what is really real.
You don’t want to know the big guy couldn’t fight out of a wet paper bag, or the fall through the table didn’t cause an injury but when the guy stubbed his toe put him out for 3 months, or the face and heel are dating.
When you show you’re hurt by words long term then you make people think the shot with the chair was fake.

Felt like Adam Copeland trying to convince himself that he didn’t make an awful career choice.
Edge says he's having more fun than ever. CM Punk once said that he was having the best year of his career before all this happened.
Recently I saw a clip from The Rikki Lake Show, which was a trashy daytime talk show like Jerry Springer but hosted by actress Rikki Lake. This woman guest on the show I guess became more attractive or something and invited a guy who rejected her to rub it in his face that she was hot now and he was never going to get a chance with her again. And Rikki Lake asks the guy if he feels like he’s missed his chance and the guy, looking completely unfazed by all of this, just says, “No, I don’t care. I have a fiancée.” And this woman who wanted to confront him and rub it in his face is just standing there realizing that she put in all this effort to get back at this guy and he does not care at all. He moved on ages ago and is living his best life.
That’s what all of this feels like. CM Punk is like, “F that place,” and Tony Kahn is like, “I’ll show him! Edge! Get out there!” I thought Edge joined AEW to just have fun. Now he’s getting dragged into Tony’s drama and having to make embarrassing public speeches that ideally make no sense to the greater audience because hopefully they don’t know what all of this is about.
Adam wasn't even there long enough to say he enjoys it there. Where was Jericho for this?

I am weird and like small coincidences, but I found the mic feedback to be absolutely incredible 😂 - like that could have happened at anytime during the promo, but happened when he was about to say BS, instead of what it really was, one persons feedback and perspective. Which then forced him into calling it feedback, which he obviously wasnt going to do, and is much less negative. It just was too perfect 😂

At this point their job isn't focused on making their product to be better, but their focus is mainly to make Tony "feel good" about whatever they're doing. They'll argue against any and every criticism, to protect Tony's feelings. And as long as Tony is happy, AEW will continue to do their thing. And the talent will get their share of all that Papa Khan money

Man wtf happened? I never got into AEW but years back, maybe 2020ish, AEW was the cool one that everyone was switching to, and now WWE is WAY more cool again

Basically Edge became another yes man to Tony Khan. Everyone just wants to be nice and sweet to Tony instead of giving him a reality check and when someone does, they get fired or he shuts them down. He’s a child
Seems like he was trying to convince himself a little. He’s probably seeing all of the Mania hype and thinking “How the hell did I end up in this empty arena?” He got to feud with his best friend, which bombed, so now what? He keeps saying he’ll end his career in AEW, but I’ll guarantee that he’ll have one last WWE run.
