I love when Thrud is fighting alongside Kratos and Atreus she would say something to the effect of “ thats so cool”, “oh thats amazing”, and screaming “Yeah”! Excitingly while she watches Kratos fight. And if you spot her while your fighting and see the way she looks at Kratos she looks at him in awe and of wanting to learn from him. I spy something in the future where she is a main supporting character and had up to that point trained under Kratos.

It is hinted that Kratos could become the new leader of the Pantheon as the one who brought peace to the Aesir and Vanir. As a new God of Peace, he just might end up being the one in charge of the Valkyries in the future. Thrud being loyal and in awe of the power of the future All-Father just furthers the point that the "never imagined path" was always a possibility, as long as Kratos was willing to break his own cycle.

I also liked how if you use the shapeshifting ability with Atreus near her, she actually reacts to it. I actively tried to NOT use it when I was in Asgard. Mainly as a personal roleplaying detail of "well Atreus is going to keep his shapeshifting ability a secret from his enemy." And then I accidentally triggered the ability with Thrud in....I think it was Helheim, and she blurts out "YOU CAN TURN INTO A WOLF!?" in this incredulous, excited tone. It was fun.

Meaning he was not yet worthy of being an heir to the name. Sure, he got his name, but it wasn't necessarily used. When the child was worth the name, he was called υἱός-huios. It's less that they hijacked what the series was about and more that they realized that pure rage and violence wasn't getting people to come in and buy the games at a certain point. People got tired of the story being endless edgy rage and violence for violence's sake. If there had to be violence, they wanted it to be a cause that felt worthy and personal. Kratos, bluntly, needed to grow.
The Norse saga is the story of a man who only ever had ONE problem-resolution tool (overwhelming violence) having to confront a life where that tool didn't get him outcomes that would make him satisfied. Problems against which violence didn't work. It's the story of Kratos finally ceasing to be what Ares had made him, and instead allowing himself to become who Atreus needed him to be.
If the series moves forward with Atreus as the new primary protagonist (which wouldn't shock me), I think we may see an opposite journey. Atreus may well have to become something like what his father had been. In fact, I think it would be fascinating to see him move through the lands of Greece to take stock of the survivors of the fall of Olympus, or catching up with various minor-deity refugees of the lands his father humbled, forcing him to recognize how that destruction too is a part of his inheritance.

You could just as easily assume that Sindri needed Atreus alive to get revenge on Odin. He was also probably just as happy to kill any Aesir at that point.

Hence why he hate the "fat dobber" so much.

I love how in this game when Kratos compliments you on a job well done it really feels like you earned it from him. Like that one type of father when you get things done for him, he says nothing it's fine. But when he compliments on it, then you did a really outstanding job that time xD my own pa was like that.

It is a breath of fresh air to see women not belittling men all the time. Last of Us and even Uncharted had moments of women overpowering men and being unapologetic. Imagine how dumb would it be to have Freya having Kratos in a killing blow but refused, you just overpowered Kratos, the guy who killed tons Gods with all his might. Or Thrud crippling Atreus. Killing Joel and Nadine overpowering Drake with sometimes Sam on her fucking own is the worst I've ever seen.

I think the lack of "feminism" has to do with the inspiration from the original myths. Lots of powerful women who didn't just act like men.

I dont understand why people hate on Kratos' growth as a character so much. I mean really.. the source of his anger is LOOONG dead, so it makes sense for him to move on, not dwell on something that brought him nothing but misery. The way they are taking his character is much deeper, and complex.. idk about everyone else, but as much as I loved the old GoW games, Kratos was too .. one dimensional. He has grown from the angry demigod into a relatable character. He feels sadness, happiness, pride, loneliness and regret for what his actions in Greece caused, however much those gods deserved his wrath, it was an empty victory for him. He does not wish to do the same thing again...

I loved the subversion of Sif initially seeming as though she was going to fall into the uptight mom trope that’s there to serve as a plot moving antagonist but actually being dimensional with understandable consistent reasoning.
