Im only on grade 5/6 and I am only very young. Looking at this, it seems I have to put much more blood and sweat into my dancing now! I hope for your exam you got a Distinction, and keep on dancing! I feel you have a very great future in Ballet! :)
It's very hard to imagine upon what you base these opinions. They are all lovely, & Mayes is certainly among the best. Do you prefer lower extensions? I sometimes wish dancers would not extend their legs so very high, just because they can, but even so, I find Mayes' controlled, beautiful extensions wonderful. Her landing of the fouetté sauté into 1st arabesque, just after 1:50, is excellent, & in the penché just after that, her leg is higher than anyone's, which, again, may not be to your taste
Excellent legs, but her port de bras is nowhere near as smooth as a dancer's with truly Russian training. Especially her hands kinda kill the lines of her otherwise gorgeous movements. Too bad, but with time at Vaganova, she'll improve I think.
