As a Christian, it annoys me a lot when people talk about the “wives, submit to your husbands” passage and OMIT that it goes both ways. Husbands are told in that same passage to submit to their wives and love and cherish them. If you look into it a little deeper it also makes a lot of sense - men typically look for respect, so wives should respect him. Women typically look for affection so husbands should show that affection and love as a sign of respect to her. I wish people would stop cherry-picking this portion because it does tell men to love and respect his wife too.

Have you heard of a bedroom before? The actual reason men have a private den is because they usually let their wives control the rest of the house.
I don’t know about caves, but I know some women will use sheds. You can also try a small greenhouse that fits in the yard. That way it’s warm and you have a peaceful place to read your books. My mom got one and she has her plants, her books and a tea warmer.

I’m very religious, yet I am fully aware that divorce is sometimes VERY necessary. I have been encouraging and supporting a friend through her divorce, meanwhile some of her relatives are on her husband’s side because they think divorce is wrong. Very frustrating.

My mom has forced herself to stay in a marriage with a man who has cheated on her multiple times, beat her and would leave raising the children all to her while he tries to be their friend. One time, he quit his job because he 'just wanted to be at home', sold their perfectly good car and then bought a broken car; pumping all their savings into fixing it up, only for it to be sold as scraps. I bet Pearl Necklace would tell her it's all her fault and that she has to fulfill her duties...

As someone from the last country in the world where divorce is illegal (the Philippines): it's horrible. Families get torn apart anyways but your properties and finances get muddied in each other cause you're legally still together. It's also more shameful to try to have a new life and a second family cause they're considered illegitimate. For people who also just can't leave their spouse because they're not financially capable enough, they get stuck either in an abusive or neglected or confrontational situation.
In our country, religion won't save your marriage. It'll only shame you for not sticking with it.

Coming from an Estonian, my now Filipino husband and his former spouse had to journey to the United States solely to initiate the process of legal dissolution of their marriage, before he had the opportunity to propose to me. And I’m glad his family was open to an interfaith marriage “Christian-Pagan” wedding, it really lifted the weight.

As a 50-year-old Mississippi mama, all I will say is bless her heart. I kinda feel like she's the reason that phrase exists.
I was a “real wife” for 20 years (married at 18). I dealt with affair after affair and emotional abuse (ended up both ways). Now I’m 42 and currently in a now 5-year relationship with my partner that is much healthier. I never had issues holding a relationship but I’m still an absolute train wreck. It doesn’t mean much to hold long-term relationships.
My husband has a "gameroom" and I have my "office". He has his cool stuff down there, I even got him a cool arcade. I have my office, he got me my PC. Half the time my son is on it and I'm playing on my Xbox. I think we all need rooms for downtime. Even if it's watching a show in bed.

@@Mayhemsmom thanks to the youthquake in the 60's. But luckily some still carried the religious (catholic or christian) values and teach them to their kids. Pearls parents are religious and in a religious household it is not weird to have allot of kids, even nowadays. The culture of the world before the sixties was havily dependant on religious values. After the youthquake most people simply wanted to break free from all the rules and do whatever they want and so the religion based society has declined to the point where churches are now mostly empty.

She has said women should be able to cook and clean: she can’t. There was an episode of Wife School she was on and she looked like a deer in headlights.
Same thing with Myron from Fresh and Fit being on a sugar baby website while he encourages men to stay away from gold diggers.
Overall the sooner men realize that these people practice none of what they preach, the better.

As a 41 yo single mom who’s been married I can attest to the fact that I’m happier single, being single has made me figure out life on a whole other more awesome level. I can change my own oil, I can fix or put together just about anything I became so much better, I attracted the wrong kinda guys my whole life, now I focus my attention only on God, myself and my kids. If my future holds another relationship, cool, but I’m certainly not looking for one that’s for damn sure! I feel like I leveled up as an adult when I gave up relationships lol. My parents have been married for almost 30 years, and my dad's "mancave" is any room with my mom in it. In other words, he never feels the need to "escape" from my mom, and in fact would spend every moment with her. They are together all day, every day, because he genuinely doesn't want it any other way, and my mom feels the same. Yet they don't ever feel enslaved, but instead are living their best lives together and actually feel more freedom because of that. They are like 2 peas in a pod and have been best friends for life, they feel connected to each other in a way that no one else can make them feel. He's always said that if my mom were to die, he would probably die as well, because his heart couldn't handle life without her. They have true love. I feel like so many of these podcasts about marriage and whatnot forget that love, though admittedly on the rare side, is a real thing and it isn't something you can control for.
From my personal experience the algorithm served me up Pearl right after my separation and she feed into my depression. She said a few basic truths with a side of crazy. But the longer to watch her you realize she just rage baits to get donations and she's really really dumb. She preys on men when they are at their lowest.

I think the whole "man cave" thing is more about having your own private space that you can get some alone time in and decorate how you want/have your personal items in. Just cause you're married and/or have kids doesn't mean that need for a little personal space goes away. If anything it becomes all the more important. At least in the Catholic faith the Bible doesn’t say you can’t get divorced but if you do you can’t get married again until your ex spouse dies or you get an annulment. Also if I’m not mistaken you can get an annulment if your spouse abuses you because they’re breaking their vows.

The Bible does say you should divorce if either is unfaithful. It also says that the wife and husband are to submit to each other and if anything you do as a person is not done or said out of love it is like a loud clashing cymbal in someone’s ear.
