You are much too kind.....but I like it :-) Thanks for the awesome comments, so much better than getting a dislike lol! Keep on making awesome videos, I'll be here, waiting to watch them. Cheers, Bob
***** Yep dislikes suck, but at least you know it's not real, it's just some loser, I mean whats to dislike? On the bright side though as it seems only people with a lot of views and suscribers really seem to get dislikes. It's probably a youtube glitch like so much of the other glitches that go on all the time (-;
Jax Teller WA LOL, in my case, I'm lucky enough to have a troll from Hong Kong that is kind enough to watch the videos and leave a dislike on the way out. I'd like to give him a spanking lol. You can find out where your dislikes originate in RUclips analytics. I wish he'd just stop watching lol.
I hate to make assumptions but I assume they did. As you say, this was a long time ago and if I remember correctly, it was a known issue. Thanks for dusting this old video off and watching! Happy flying to you!
WOW! What an awesome flight! I can see several similarities between this plane and the 3D plane that I'm building. If my plane flies half as good as this plane, I'll be a happy dude. Great video, Bob! Thanks for sharing, as always!
I'm really looking forward to seeing your new plane in the air Derek. You have some very interesting projects going on in your workshop and it's fun to see what's going on. Many thanks for watching and take care! Cheers, Bob
Bob the wife and I have been discussing what plane I get for my birthday it's not until July. Well the final verdict is the AJ 56 Laser 230z Well Next month I start ordering the parts motor servos going down the list on the site. If I don,t turn into a pile of balsa and electronics I will put it on you tube. Thanks for the link Cheers my friend :)
That's awesome, what a great birthday present. I think it's a fine choice and I'm sure you will get many hours of flying enjoyment out of it. Since you have lots of time I would subscribe to the thread for this plane on RC Groups to benefit from what others have experienced. It's nice to let others do the testing of the equipment you will be ordering for the plane. This will help you end up with the optimum setup and avoid making expensive mistakes. Here's a link to the thread: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2346522 A friend of mine has the 73" and 93" versions of this plane and loves them. I have no doubt the 56" will be awesome too! Cheers buddy, Bob
Great work as always Bob. As you said, the competition colour scheme really shows up well. They also offer a classic colour scheme which also looks great, but the competition scheme focuses on visibility. I will be trying a 21 x 10 Xoar PJN prop to see if I can get more watts. I will also play around with settings and different firmware versions for the ESC. Currently I am getting around 1750W, which is not enough for a 10 lb, 6 oz plane. Not happy with Castle ESCs, my next plane, an AJ Laser 92 will have a Jeti ESC.
I think you should get the 93" in the classic scheme so you'll have one of each! As you say, it would be nice to get the ESC sorted out and let the motor realize its potential. Nice flying Malcolm!
Wow, what a sweetheart of a plane and flight! So smooth and controlled, excellent piloting by Andrew! Looks like you also had a perfect day to fly and film and what an awesome job of both. The plane looked awesome in that sky, great job with the camerawork and video as always Bob! I really wanted to give you a AA rating but something compels me to a DD... it as if a subliminal message planted... weird! BIG thumbs up! Cheers!
Hey Fred, thanks for watching buddy. Actually, it is Andrew who designs and sells the planes and it is Malcolm from our club who owns this one and is flying it in the video (on the one nice day we've had in the last two weeks). The DD rating is probably deserved lol. I couldn't help myself. Where were you when I needed you to be there to say no? I think you may be the only one to have watched the video to the end in order to get the benefit of the DD subliminal message lmao. Maybe you and the person that disliked the video ;-) Take care and be well. Cheers, Bob
If you go with what Andrew recommends as well as follow the thread on RC Groups, you're going to end up at the right place :-) www.aj-aircraft.com/56-Laser-230z_p_8.html
are you happy with 6 s Power? I didn't want to go with 8 s route as I have tons of 6 cell lipos I haven't bought the plane yet still debating between its smaller brother. what is your all up weight? awesome flying by the way
The owner of the plane in the video had to make the same decision. He has lots of 6s lipos too and that's was made him go with the 6s setup. For his style of flying, he is very happy with his 6s setup. Andrew Jesky prefers the 8s setup. If your flying style is more about slow and smooth, 6s works great. There is adequate power to climb out of a hover. If you fly with a high energy style, you might like the 8s setup better. Malcolm said that he thinks the all up weight is 10 lbs 6 oz. Thanks for watching.
I had another six flights today on the Laser 73". The more I fly it the more I like it. I changed the prop from a 20x10 to a 21x10 and also made some recommended changes to the configuration in the ESC - most significantly changing the timing from mid to low. The end result is that the watts went up about 10%, from a bit over 1700W to around 1900W. This was very significant and makes the plane much nicer to fly. But I should be getting more watts, probably something closer to 2200W to 2300W. Next I plan to update the firmware in the ESC from v3.27 (which was recommended to me) to the latest firmware. Castle claims the latest firmware corrects this lack of power problem with 28 pole motors such as the Hacker A60-6XS I am using. Based on my experience with my Bigfoot, the latest firmware didn't improve anything in my Edge HV ESC. But I have nothing else to try other than going to a Jeti ESC.
It certainly looked like an improvement Malcolm. It would be great to get all the power that you should with that setup. Even though it flies great, the way it is now is kind of like driving a V8 on 6 cylinders.
That was amazing. The AJ slick is my personal favorite plane. I love the way this one flys. I take it you didn't like his set up bob? "Piece O crap" lol.
LOL! Actually, that was a quote from the owner Malcolm. He hasn't had much luck with the Castle Creations ESC's for the bigger 28 pole Hacker motors. CC has been working on a firmware update since last forever to address this problem but nothing so far. The Jeti ESCs work awesome with the big Hackers but Malcolm's Scottish heritage prevented him from dropping the much larger dollars to get one. We like the AJ Slicks too Chris. Malcolm has an 89" and a 104" AJ Slick and I have the smaller 59" and 71" versions. Thanks for watching and I approve of your taste in planes lol. Cheers, Bob
You are a fantastic cameraman Bob, this was just amazing to watch, such beautiful shots of an awesome looking plane. Loved it!
You are much too kind.....but I like it :-)
